How to talk about actions that started in the past and continue in the present, and how to tell your life experiences, what you have done or haven’t done in Spanish. At the end of the video you’ll be able to know how to use the present perfect, how to form past participle of the verbs in Spanish and how to say I have been in Spanish and how to ask Have you ever in Spanish.

    You are an excellent Spanish teacher. I've admired how you usually are able to use simple, clear Spanish to teach Spanish (instead of using English to teach Spanish). I was disappointed by the excessive English in this video. Things that could have been easily explained in Spanish were explained via English. This is a error that most TH-cam Spanish teachers make. Please don't join their ranks!

      Larissa Iris ja,ja,ja. Yo nunca me he emborrachado, ni siquiera en mi boda. Sí es verdad que bebí, pero lo controlé, hubiese sido una pena emborrarme y luego no recordar nada de ese grandioso día.
      Gracias ☺️

    I just went back to this video again because I was researching the word "todavia" and remembered you said it can trigger the present perfect tence.
    I loved this video even more this time than the last time I watched it. It has all these little tidbits of useful information that I had not picked up on before because back then I was just trying to learn the basic concept.
    Now with a few more months of learning I find I can come back to this topic and learn more about the details like that "todavida" means "still".
    Me encanta el vidio todavia! Not sure if that last sentence is correct. I was trying to say I still love the video.

      That’s the good thing about videos, you can go back and look for more specific points. I’m happy you keep learning and improving.
      Your example is correct 👍🏻👍🏻

    One small technical note. Sometimes I like to pause the video to give me a chance to think. Some times the english line on the bottom of the screen gets covered up when I hit pause on my cell android cell phone using chrome, by the progress bar. The easy fix is to just move the text you show on the screen up a little in some cases. An example.time stamp where this problem shows up is at 3:09 in your video.
    I really like your video alot and will watch a few more times before I make comment on the actual content. Great job.

      Sí, todas esas oraciones significan lo mismo. And I’ll add one more: Vivo aquí desde hace 3 años.
      Btw, el uso del verbo “llevar” tiene múltiples significados, estoy preparando un video sobre ese verbo en particular. Wait for it ☺️☺️

    Question: how many tenses are there in Indicative mood. I count five simple tenses. These are present, preterate, imperfect, future and conditional which makes five simple tenses in the indicative. Then on top of that apparently the indicative mode has five compound tenses each formed with a different congugation of the helper verb haber, however some of these compound tenses like the "past anterior" are almost never used.
    And we just learned the first of these five compound tenses, the "present perfect"!
    Do I have this right?

    • @SpeakSpanishWithPaula
      @SpeakSpanishWithPaula  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Baugher You’re right! In the indicative we have:
      Present: simple present and present perfect.
      Past: preterite, imperfect and past perfect (pluperfect). The preterite perfect (pasado anterior) is not used anymore, just in literature.
      Future: informal future (IR + a...), future simple and future perfect.
      Conditional: simple conditional and conditional perfect.
      A lot to study, right? Keep it up 👍🏻 👏🏻😉

    great video but if we want to ask how have you been doing something how do we say it

    • @SpeakSpanishWithPaula
      @SpeakSpanishWithPaula  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hola Abd.
      “Been” would be the verb “estar” in the past participle, so, “estado”. And then we conjugate the verb we need in the gerund form.
      For instance, if you want to say: I have been studying a lot lately, you would say:
      He estado estudiando mucho últimamente.
      Sometimes, depending on the context we wouldn’t use this structure but rather, we’d use a verb like “llevar”.
      I’ll try to make a video to point out the differences.
      Gracias ☺️

    Paula, when you conjugate a verb, do you need the pronouns? For example, Yo he vivido en Estados Unidos desde que naci….. Or can I drop “Yo” and just say He vivido en Estados Unidos desde que naci….. And yes, I have gotten drunk before. When I was young. I don’t do that anymore :-)

    • @ProfeLJ
      @ProfeLJ ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you never need the personal pronouns; they are only for emphasis or clarity (él ha hecho...)
