@@theresamcmullen4841 All food is real because any substance that can be digested is real food, by definition. Truths my ass!!! You are so poorly educated you don't know the difference between you're and your!! "While I appreciate Vandana Shiva’s passion for the environment and crop diversity, most of her claims have been readily debunked. Her campaigns are subsidized by millions of dollars of contributions by organic food companies to spread lies about conventional agriculture to push an agenda. In my opinion, it is admirable if someone chooses to be an organic farmer-there are many ways to address food security issues as long as we promote cooperation and coexistence-but there is something wrong with lying to people for profit, such as her debunked claims that GMOs are vandanashiva1-1provoking Indian farmers to commit suicide. [Read GLP GMO FAQ addressing Shiva’s accusation]. She doesn’t back up her claims with reputable evidence and what she claims about conventional agriculture isn’t backed by science. Needless to say, a huge percentage of what came out of Shiva’s mouth was myths and misrepresentations. She spent a lot of time tearing into Norman Borlaug, the scientist and ‘father of the Green Revolution-he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal before his death-and is credited with saving hundreds of millions of lives, and accused farmers of being “the last caretakers of the land.” Seriously? Who does that? Shiva is no friend to modern farmers or technology. Her misinformation was appalling and needless to say I was not impressed.
It was painful to sit through her nonsense, and the whole time I was wondering if she has ever even ridden in a combine or ever been to a large scale farm a day in her life. While she railed against “industrial, chemically intensive agriculture,” I wish she knew that farmers today are using less toxic chemicals than ever before. When complaining about soil and water quality, I wish she would connect with us and learn that farmers enroll in conservation programs and are the ultimate stewards of the land. Organic and conventional farms have a lot in common: both types of farms may or may not use chemicals, both types can do conservation methods like soil testing, crop rotation, cover crops, etc. This is not the agenda she had though. Apparently only organic farmers are concerned about sustainability, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Shiva also shared the myth that GMOs kill bees, all while completely ignoring the fact that GMOs eliminate our need to spray insecticides, which helps beneficial insects. GMOs cause suicides, Monsanto is trying to poison everyone, monocultures! Patents! Seed saving! The list of myths goes on. The reality is that farmers have hundreds of seed companies to choose from, all different types of crops can have patents including organic, and today’s farmers don’t want to save seeds. My head was spinning with how disconnected she is to modern farming and how much she really doesn’t understand our industry, while she gets paid to talk about this with no formal training or educational background in agriculture. Say what, now? But there was hope! I was happy to know that there was a Q&A afterwards and I wasn’t going to sit back and let Shiva’s false accusations go without saying something. I encouraged everyone to connect with us as farmers. I took issue with her referring to pesticides as “poison,” as organic production uses pesticides too, and they are sometimes more toxic and more frequently used than the chemicals used by non-organic farmers. By her definition ALL food would be poison, but as any scientist would tell you, it’s the dose that makes the poison. I mentioned that when we spray the herbicide glyphosate (Monsanto’s Roundup) on our fields it is at a rate of 22 ounces per acre, which is less than 2 soda cans over an area of land the size of a football field. We only spray two days out of an entire year. Simply said, the food conventional farmers grow is not scary. It’s thanks to biotechnology that we are using less chemicals than ever before and no longer having to spray insecticides, which HELPS beneficial insects like bees, and does not hurt them as she misleadingly claimed. Our farm holds the award for “Iowa farmers of the year” in soil and water conservation because, as a result of modern technology including the use of genetically modified seeds, we use no till, cover crops and crop rotation. Biotechnology is doing great things for farmers and allows us to grow more food on less land while using less water, fuel, and inputs.
Shiva gave me the stink eye but didn’t say a word while I was speaking, other than “thanks.” I really didn’t know what to expect from the crowd, but surprisingly, I was applauded! After I left I was approached by a group of people who thanked me. They said “You did a great job. I applaud your bravery. We appreciate hearing multiple sides of a story. You are welcome here,” etc. It was great. I was also approached by a security guard who wanted me to be aware that he would be following me around a bit to ensure my safety in case anyone tried to cause trouble. He even walked me to my car so that was nice. Surprisingly, not a single hater. None. I want to share this story to encourage you all to stand up for the truth. For farmers, agronomists, scientists, etc speaking up HAS to be a part of our job description nowadays. We are the experts, we are the ones that have the most education and firsthand expertise on the topic. Don’t let misinformed activists tell our stories and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. A situation that looks intimidating could be the best opportunity to educate. If we all do our part to advocate for science and agriculture, we CAN make a difference." geneticliteracyproject.org/2016/11/21/iowa-farmer-challenges-activist-vandana-shiva-myth-filled-anti-gmo-lecture/

The Germination of Outrage: How Vandana Shiva Fabricates Conspiracy Theories Posted by RISKMONGER [a degreed biotech expert] on FEBRUARY 27, 2020 "Vandana Shiva has made a lucrative business out of spreading conspiracy theories about agricultural technologies, sustainable farming, capitalism and industry. Her popularity has grown as she positions herself as a modern-day Gandhi, a social justice warrior, an ecological feminist and an agroecologist. The problem is that most everything that comes out of her much amplified mouth is complete nonsense: pure fabrications easily and often refuted.
Which leads to the question: How does Vandana consistently get away with such ridiculous falsehoods and oral assaults on intelligent thought? How can she weave the absurd into a web of allegations willingly consumed by her followers? How does she relentlessly fabricate conspiracy theories and package them for consumption among the Western liberal elite? This article will look at one web of lies she is presently spinning as an analysis of the germination of outrage. Gone Vananas!
As Vandana points her finger at Western economic models and institutions, she has profited quite well from lucrative speaking fees and first-class luxury living. She uses the free speech made available to her on university campuses to condemn farmers for freely choosing the seeds they want to grow. As Vandana attacks industry for their lack of openness, she will never engage in open debate with an adversary. As long as Vandana controls the microphone, she can say what she wants, repeating it to her followers and making the outrageous a marketable outrage. Some of the claims she has repeatedly made, which would have destroyed the credibility of any mere mortal, include: *Shiva: Indian farmers are killing themselves in much larger numbers after being exposed to pesticides and GMOs. Fact: Indian farmer suicide rates are lower than the national average. *Shiva: 75% of all diseases are caused by a “Poison Cartel” of three chemical companies. Fact: This is too absurd to consider. We are living longer and healthier lives. *Shiva: The Green Revolution in the 1960s destroyed India’s way of life. Fact: Until the Green Revolution, India was plagued with famines and chronic malnutrition. This is not a story about how wrong Vandana Shiva is, how she hypocritically profits from her lies or how dangerous she is to global food security. There is enough critical information out there. This is a story about how Vandana’s lies germinate into conspiracy theories packaged for outrage consumption. With Shiva, the truth doesn’t matter. She simply ignores any fact-checking, corrections and personal criticisms. Her adoring audience wants to hear what Shiva has to say, without a care for whether it is true or not. Like Donald Trump, Shiva has a Teflon charisma that appeals specifically to her base and allows her to take them down a road of rage, righteousness and rhetoric. Facts don’t matter when zealots fabricate outrage." Full coverage at: risk-monger.com/2020/02/27/the-germination-of-outrage/

Amazing skills as a professional fraud. Nothing more. Posted by Aneesh Prasobhan on April 22, 5:30 PM Eastern time today in the video comments of a TH-cam video dishonestly praising the fraud Vandana Shiva: th-cam.com/video/gof7vdQI6OM/w-d-xo.html "Popeye Gordon Hmm. I see. I was wrong then. Apologies for my mistake. So she was wrong/lying about a lot of things then. I'll stop watching her videos. Thanks and good day." Yes there are a few gems I enlighten every day like Aneesh who also subscribed to my channel. Sort this thread for newest and scroll down to see my many scathing factual exposures of Shiva's fraud I have linked. Shiva is a professional flim-flam artist of the most despicable sort. She is funded by corrupt organic lobbyist money that is gleaned from the absurdly high prices of organic foods.

Raised in prosperity, this Indian Brahmin was formally trained as a philosopher, embracing and promoting a form of Quantum Theory that is now widely dismissed. She often falsely claims that she is a trained physicist, and those false ‘scientific’ credentials are often echoed by her supporters. The GLP has carried numerous articles about her history of misstatements and fabrications (here, here, here). She was the subject of a scathing critique, “Seeds of Doubt,” by Michael Specter of The New Yorker, which documented her history of misleading claims and what Specter maintained often verged on anti-science gibberish. She alternately promotes land redistribution, indigenous and peasant farmers’ rights, organic-only food production and ayurvedic health practices over conventional medicines, all of which she characterizes as an “earth democracy” movement necessary to restore “harmony,” people and nature. Shiva receives financial backing from high-profile activist groups such as the Center for Food Safety, which shares offices with her in Washington. Among her most controversial talking points is her false claim that there was no hunger in India prior to the Green Revolution. The truth is almost 180 degrees the opposite, as the Green Revolution, marked in part by the introduction of synthetic chemical fertilizers and pesticides enable massive increases in food production. A recent review of the evidence shows, “the production of cereal crops tripled during this period, with only a 30% increase in land area cultivated.” Shiva also blames the Green Revolution for increasing poverty, indebtedness and despair among farmers. Her notorious allegation that the introduction of insect-resistant GMO crops in India led many farmers to commit suicide has been evaluated and dismissed as inaccurate. Shiva is also a fierce opponent of so-called Golden Rice, a crop engineered to combat vitamin A deficiency in developing countries. In response to the scheduling of her two talks at Stanford and UC Santa Cruz, 39 scientists from around the world co-authored an open letter to both universities protesting the invitations. The signatories told the GLP that their aim is to alert the events’ organizers, participants and attendees to the numerous falsehoods in Shiva’s philosophy. @@csowm5je Nothing like CEOs who buy a jet for their corporations and declare the investments in their annual reports. She keeps her finances private, refusing to divulge any charities she supports. She has a free office in New York that is funded by organic lobbyists and other activist groups. Again, all financing is secret. She is notorious for demanding deluxe business class air fare be included on top of the $40,000 lecture fees. Even her Indian farm support group that was supposedly charitable turned out to be accepting foreign money and influence. She was investigated by the Indian government and they were pissed. "In June 2014, Indian and international media reported that Navdanya and Vandana Shiva were named in a leaked, classified report by India's Intelligence Bureau (IB), which was prepared for the Indian Prime Minister's Office.[47] The leaked IB report raises concerns over the foreign-funding of Indian NGOs whose campaigning activities, the report claims, are hampering India's growth and development. In its report, the IB said that Indian NGOs, including Navdanya, receive money from foreign donors under the 'charitable garb' of campaigning for human rights or women's equality, but instead use the money for nefarious purposes. "These foreign donors lead local NGOs to provide field reports which are used to build a record against India and serve as tools for the strategic foreign policy interests of the Western governments," the IB report states.[48] Investigative journalist Michael Specter, in an article in The New Yorker on 25 August 2014 entitled "Seeds of Doubt",[10] raised concerns over a number of Shiva's claims regarding GMOs and some of her campaigning methods. He wrote: "Shiva's absolutism about G.M.O.s can lead her in strange directions. In 1999, ten thousand people were killed and millions were left homeless when a cyclone hit India's eastern coastal state of Orissa. When the U.S. government dispatched grain and soy to help feed the desperate victims, Shiva held a news conference in New Delhi and said that the donation was proof that "the United States has been using the Orissa victims as guinea pigs" for genetically-engineered products, although she made no mention about that those same products are approved and consumed in the United States. She also wrote to the international relief agency Oxfam to say that she hoped it wasn't planning to send genetically modified foods to feed the starving survivors."[10] Cases of plagiarism have been pointed out against Vandana Shiva. Birendra Nayak has published on her plagiarism involving copying verbatim from a 1996 article in Voice Gopalpur in her 1998 book Stronger than Steel.[51] Several paragraphs of an article by S Faizi on the Plachimada/Coca-Cola issue published in The Statesman in 2015 were plagiarized by Vandana Shiva in an article she published a year later.[52]
Journalist Keith Kloor, in an article published in Discover on 23 October 2014 entitled "The Rich Allure of a Peasant Champion", revealed that Shiva charges US$40,000 per speaking lecture, plus a business-class air ticket from New Delhi. Change starts with the American people! It starts when they start caring about their own health and their kids' future. It begins when they start choosing organically produced grains and vegetables from local farmers. It begins when they choose to boycott corporate profit seeking fast industries. The food industry knows American people will wake up someday. That's why they have expanded their empires into different developing nations now. But still, I strongly believe the American spirit can change the world if it can be revived from the dead.

Siddharth Sriram 3 days ago Popeye Gordon I am an Indian. Thanks a ton for sharing the vid link exposing Vandana Shiva's pseudoscience bullshit. What I learnt from the video 1) She has a phd in philosophy & is not a physicist, but tries to give an impression that she is one. 2) Her understanding of genetics is wrong. She advocates the Soviet Union model of naturally dust resistant variety of crops/seeds. She argues they have the ability to adapt drastically to challenging environment in a short time. Soviet Union did this, they failed as result. The reason why they lost the cold war their economic downfall. 3) Vandana Shiva lures you in with some facts & also scientific facts & weaves them with her own unscientific & nostalgic opinions to advance her ideals. For instance, she is right about the Green Revolution causing an increase in pollution & causing a few other problems, the same with certain companies. The reality is that, it is not perfect, but Vandana Shiva paints that as the sole factor casing most of the problems on earth. 4) She is like mark Antony, a good speaker, & can rally people with her command over English & pseudo-science. 5) She gets paid a tremendous amount of money for giving such speeches.

@@JesseReza-g4l So you want me to say we must BE organic rather than GO organic? Unfortunately, most of present-day agriculture is NOT organic. Therefore, we need to to GO organic. Perhaps I should say we must reverse the non-organic trend in agriculture. No matter how you say it, it simply means no sprays and no artificial (bituminous) "fertilizers" (nitrogen exaggerators). Most of our health crises stem from the damage done by mainstream agriculture. It unfortunately is still a future goal for all of us to GO organic.

Respect to you Dr. Vandana. What you have been saying is very ture. Its the new way of owning the world by few. Nations should be awaken and keep their heritage of farming accordingly. Bless you again for alarming the world at large.
You were totally fooled. Shiva is a professional fraud - even her own government hates her and all farmers hate her lies. "In June 2014, Indian and international media reported that Navdanya and Vandana Shiva were named in a leaked, classified report by India's Intelligence Bureau (IB), which was prepared for the Indian Prime Minister's Office.[47]
The leaked IB report raises concerns over the foreign-funding of Indian NGOs whose campaigning activities, the report claims, are hampering India's growth and development. In its report, the IB said that Indian NGOs, including Navdanya, receive money from foreign donors under the 'charitable garb' of campaigning for human rights or women's equality, but instead use the money for nefarious purposes. "These foreign donors lead local NGOs to provide field reports which are used to build a record against India and serve as tools for the strategic foreign policy interests of the Western governments," the IB report states.[48]
Investigative journalist Michael Specter, in an article in The New Yorker on 25 August 2014 entitled "Seeds of Doubt",[10] raised concerns over a number of Shiva's claims regarding GMOs and some of her campaigning methods. She also wrote to the international relief agency Oxfam to say that she hoped it wasn't planning to send genetically modified foods to feed the starving survivors."[10]
Cases of plagiarism have been pointed out against Vandana Shiva.
Kloor wrote: "She is often heralded as a tireless 'defender of the poor,' someone who has courageously taken her stand among the peasant farmers of India. Let it be noted, however, that this champion of the downtrodden doesn't exactly live a peasant's lifestyle."[53] Wikipedia - Shiva

The Germination of Outrage: How Vandana Shiva Fabricates Conspiracy Theories
Posted by RISKMONGER [a degreed biotech expert] on FEBRUARY 27, 2020
"Vandana Shiva has made a lucrative business out of spreading conspiracy theories about agricultural technologies, sustainable farming, capitalism and industry.
Some of the claims she has repeatedly made, which would have destroyed the credibility of any mere mortal, include:
*Shiva: Indian farmers are killing themselves in much larger numbers after being exposed to pesticides and GMOs.
Simply amazing. I will connect with her NGO and bring the knowledge to Tunisia.
you hate the Tunisians that much?

She is unbelievably good... divine femine for a perfect time the mother earth needs her..such an eye opener
She also wrote to the international relief agency Oxfam to say that she hoped it wasn't planning to send genetically modified foods to feed the starving survivors."[10]
Cases of plagiarism have been pointed out against Vandana Shiva.

Posted by Aneesh Prasobhan on April 22, 5:30 PM Eastern time today in the video comments of a TH-cam video dishonestly praising the fraud Vandana Shiva: th-cam.com/video/gof7vdQI6OM/w-d-xo.html
"Popeye Gordon Hmm. I see. I was wrong then. Apologies for my mistake. So she was wrong/lying about a lot of things then. I'll stop watching her videos. Thanks and good day."
Yes there are a few gems I enlighten every day like Aneesh who also subscribed to my channel.
Shiva gave me the stink eye but didn’t say a word while I was speaking, other than “thanks.”
I really didn’t know what to expect from the crowd, but surprisingly, I was applauded!

Vandana Shiva - You are my new hero and role model. So much of eye opening info.
You are an ignorant lost person with no education. Shiva has attracted intense criticism from the scientific community for perpetuating long-debunked myths about agriculture, biotechnology and food safety.
"Shiva is scheduled to speak in late January at Stanford University and the University of California, Santa Cruz on “equitable and sustainable” farming methods. Her positions on a variety of issues have irked and at times outraged scientists who consider her a disseminator of misinformation who profits at the rate of $40,000 a lecture (or more) to spread propaganda critical of mainstream views of biotechnology.
For more than three decades, she has relentlessly campaigned against globalization, focusing on food and agriculture socio-economic issues and an opposition to GMOs, free trade and intellectual property rights.
But still, I strongly believe the American spirit can change the world if it can be revived from the dead.
It never needed reviving outside the world of TH-cam ignorance.
who in manhattan going to buy oranges, etc from "local farmers" who in arizona will be able to obtain "local" maple syrup-you are utterly delusional
This is very timely on this very sad day seven years later.

Bill Gates is losing sleep because of this lady, a true world leader. This one needs uploaded to the algorithm again and again and again, if you see this share it again, share it next week. Understand that we have been told that we will have shortages worldwide in less than 6 months, it is 2022 and we don't actually have much time left
Sri Lankan farmers and citizens who are on the verge of mass starvation are also losing sleep because of this lady.
Huge respect for great warrior

Madam Vandana ,
I have great regard for you and your approach on life and humanity at large.
2010 I started farming .
This cost me my liver kidney and my wife's LEFT EYE.
I learnt a lot after farming and trying to do all the right things and cost efficient thing like staying organic.
I had goats cows and a dog most of my animals are poisoned and trees destroyed and and yhpusands stolen .
The land syndicate grampanchyat and B.D.O. make money by selling our agricultural land to building developers.
I am concluding as it's a long story uploaded on angloindian world property owners group. Best wishes jhn

Ignorant semantics. The fact that so many upvoted you proves just how ignorant Shiva's suckers are.
@James Conway What an idiot!!! You failed to scan this thread so you have no idea I am the only one here with dozens of citation links of proof from unbiased reliable sources, THEN you play that idiotic shill card, screwing yourself up your own ass!! Playing the shill gambit is always a forfeit of the debate at hand. It is a pathetic form of cheating by trying to poison the well rather than countering with a cogent refutation that might prove your point or win a debate. I see lameoids pull this stupid blunder 10 times a day in the GMO debate. If you want to prove a fault in science, use the tools scientists use, peer reviewed studies and unbiased information sources. If you don't have solid evidence, consider what a fool you are being. Shill shill shill just makes you look like a blathering idiot and forfeits every time, the win goes to science truth. The shill gambit failed debating tactic is explained simply in the dictionary of your choice. This is especially ludicrous when you consider the GMO safety debate ended four years ago and no company for profit anywhere would spend a single penny paying a "shill" to promote something already attained in 2016 with release of that landmark NAS study.
@James Conway It is not possible to slander here under any circumstances. Your whiny butt hurt is noted. I have over 80 citation links of proof on this page that proves Shiva's fraud. Where is yours?
@James Conway Again this idiot says 'no evidence' when I have posted more evidence than any other person on this page. Actually more evidence than the combined posts of the other 595 comments here. Over 80 LINKED EXAMPLES OF EVIDENCE are here but all YOU can manage is that idiotic shill gambit. You lose again.
Many informed people are revolted by the malicious lie being spread by that professional fraud Vandana Shiva. There is no specific connection between GMOs and Indian farmer suicides. Popeye Gordon I am an Indian. 5) She gets paid a tremendous amount of money for giving such speeches.
and since we are organic, that future starts now here, where and whenever that is for each one. "in Grace and Gratitude"

Awesome female version of Alex Jones ... no proof, no studies in any related science you would need to have to claim this BS, only stories and personal narratives ...
A very eloquent spokesperson for Gaia!❤

Organic is the way out of this military industrial madness.
Unfortunately the politicians here in Vermont make organic and family farming very difficult.

Oops, you should have done your due diligence. On the first page of a google search for her lecture fees there are 15 hits from 14 different sources that cover her $40,000 fee travesty. This is only one source: "While this upper-caste Indian gets little right about science, she is clearly adept at extracting money from sponsors on the lecture circuit. According to her speakers’ agency, the Evil Twin Booking Agency (we are not making this up), Shiva’s usual fee for an American university appearance is $40,000 plus a business class round-trip ticket from New Delhi. Thus, we infer that Beloit, Wake Forest and Arizona State have probably paid Dr. Shiva close to $50,000 each for exposing their students to her mendacious, baseless attacks on modern agriculture and science." geneticliteracyproject.org/2014/07/17/anti-gmo-activist-vandana-shiva-earns-40000-per-speech-advocating-policies-that-harm-poor/
Stop making everyone God. That's the main problem of Indian. Anyone becomes little talented and famous people start treating as God. She is great women but not God.
Shiva
Shiva has attracted intense criticism from the scientific community for perpetuating long-debunked myths about agriculture, biotechnology and food safety.
"Shiva is scheduled to speak in late January at Stanford University and the University of California, Santa Cruz on “equitable and sustainable” farming methods. Her positions on a variety of issues have irked and at times outraged scientists who consider her a disseminator of misinformation who profits at the rate of $40,000 a lecture (or more) to spread propaganda critical of mainstream views of biotechnology.
For more than three decades, she has relentlessly campaigned against globalization, focusing on food and agriculture socio-economic issues and an opposition to GMOs, free trade and intellectual property rights.
The letter, reproduced below in full, blasts Shiva for her “use of anti-scientific rhetoric to support unethical positions.” Neither university has scheduled a scientist to present the evidence-based case for crop biotechnology." geneticliteracyproject.org/2020/01/14/39-biotech-experts-open-letter-protests-anti-gmo-activist-vandana-shivas-anti-science-talks-at-stanford-and-uc-santa-cruz/
Much love!
God Bless everyone who ever your God is but please listen to this woman I think this is what God wants for us to love each other and taking care of the land
Standing ovation!
No. We do not applaud frauds and liars.
Shiva gave me the stink eye but didn’t say a word while I was speaking, other than “thanks.”
I really didn’t know what to expect from the crowd, but surprisingly, I was applauded!
