All the number stuff is cool and all, but seeing Tom get so thrilled over doing this in one take is just adorable.
That last part really hit me. The fact that even if we do run out of URLs all they have to do is add one more character and that would be enough to do 64 times the amount of time it would take to fill the last amount of videos
same with passwords.
If a technology comes around, that can bruteforce my 12+ alphadecimal character password, well, I'll just add a character. Or, just for the fun, add two.
My master PW has 17 btw, so overkill, but I remember it.
@@skoniramont if you're using anything less than a 200 character password then you're not doing it right. I don't even think quantum computers would be capable of brute forcing a 200 character password in any reasonable amount of time. Not for a while anyway

It does help that you really knows how Base64, Hexadecimals, and other things important to this subject, so you can talk about it in normal way, in one take. It also helps you remembering the numbers of, or even making up the calculation of the TH-cam URL probability correctly as you speak.
It's also how live speakers in conferences presenting their materials. Knowing the material well can help you ramble about it in informative way with little breaks and mistakes in one go.

Just in case you ever thought about trying to put in a random 11 character URL to see what video you got, think again. With over 73 Quintillion possible combinations, and anywhere between 5 and 10 billion videos on TH-cam currently, this means that on average you could expect to find a random video attached to the random URL you came up with ONCE every 73 MILLION attempts (and that is if there are 10 billion videos on youtube, the generous side of the range).

It should be noted, you can do an incremental counter system, as long as you require a key to access it, which can be something as simple as the original title of the video. Many websites do this, where the url path will start with the ID number but have a slash after it that requires the title. So unlisted videos are safe, but you don't have to worry about ID collisions.
But is extremelly easy to just use UUID, which uses time to garantee uniqueness. Most DB's already has the algorithm or if not, you can just add into the DB or generate by code. Usually is an one line of code change.
