- as our old 450 is getting some work done to it, we were aloud the chance to try this brand new 2020 Komatsu WA380. Sweet loader, I talk all about it in the video.

We have a cat 980M, 7000 ish hours on it and have been little problems with it, but the operators hate it. Bad comfort and have some other problems with weak tilt on the bucket.
We also have a 220H Volvo. Operators like driving it, but much more problems. The Volvo loaders we have had after 10.000 hours it's nothing left of them. And it's rather easy work in a gravel pit.
If up to me we should try a Komatsu. Or Ljungby loader.
Honestly I was super impressed with this machine. Crazy to her about your cats. Normally they have awesome in cab comfort
Komatsu is by far the most comfortable loader I've ever run, good power and lots of leg room 😁
We’ve got a 380 and is liked alright by our operators. They love our Volvo L90’s. Our yard L90 has over 60,000 hours on it and runs like a champ every day!
I prefer how cat has the FNR switch on the inside and you use your thumb instead of your pinky I find it much more comfy that way. Also like cat, I prefer the first two joysticks your main ones and the third one being AUX.
and of course, Cat’s Joystick steering is hands down the best thing you’ve ever felt. It’s truly something you need to try just for the experience.
I agree I own a cat 930g and it’s older but surprisingly great technology cat is definitely in my opinion the most reliable engines and

Just buy it! Holy hell 36k hours! What a piece of machinery. Shows what happens when you actually put the TLC into your equipment day in and day out. Respect the beasts and the beasts respect you!

Don't want to be negative.. Buuuut a lot of the super neat things and hyped features you show on this machine where available on Volvo loaders 20 years ago.. Still 30000+ hours on a machine in daily production is impressive speaking to Komatsu reliability.
380 and 470 are my favorite loaders. Ran both for a couple years until I started running push pull scrapers
good stuff , videos are good quality dude... better and better everytime, high hour machines are a pain after awhile, costs big money to fix them up, costs big money for a new one, but we all love new stuff, not to mention warrenty. big thumbs up

Company I work for bought a w380 as part of a package deal and returned that loader a week later. It was horrible in the mud. U couldn't steer your self out of it. Steering would lock up so considering we install sewers in mud . It was useless. The cat 950m is an all around beast. Komatsu makes some awesome trim dozers. We have 6 of those.
Our new cat loaders have a button that opens the door from the ground so your not hanging off the ladder when it opens

I spent a year and a half running a 320 for a pipe crew before getting a Cat 938. The Komatsu was a nice enough loader but I've never been a huge fan of the cab. The doors don't swing flat against the machine so if you are roading the machine with the doors open and hit a wet spot the entire door gets covered in crap. The ergonomics of the controls were never as nice as other machines. There's far less room in the cab of a Komatsu than that of a Cat or a Case loader. The menu setup for the screen is clumsy being off to the side and independent of the screen. Overall the cab is just not put together well (in my opinion). My only other complaint is that the Komatsu felt like it needed more ass. I was able to lift trench boxes with the Cat that were standing the Komatsu on it's front tires. Finally, you might check to see if they are running a DPF alongside the SCR. If so, look at another machine. I know Case only runs an SCR and has managed to ditch the DPF. I'm not sure if Cat has managed to do the same. Nice video and good luck on whatever you guys decide to do! It's hard to beat playing in a new machine for a few days.

Now that it's a demo loader you can get a deal
if you are buying it and if it does not have an auto greaser on it . get an auto lube system on it and it will be the best investment you will make and keep the machine as tight as new for years.

Great vid! Hit up your Cat dealer and try a 962M with joytstick controls. Pretty convenient having the Komatsu dealer next-door but maybe a Cat demo will at least help lower the Komatsu price. I bet you'll like the Cat better too.
JD had those vinyl swinging fenders. Once they get age on them they don't line up to latch
He got 980 cats from the early 2000s that the fender swings out like that

The new loaders hydraulics are so quick. Does it come with a scale to weight the material, like a Payload measurment system?
No this one doesn’t. They start with scales at the 480 I believe but I’m sure with more money I could get installed

Alot of places out this way have them, we've got a few and JR Brisson outta vars have been great with service and such.

@@KenWhiteConstruction fair enough. don't you think that's a necessity on a new loader? i'd at least pref a joystick if i where to run a loader for that long, maybe that's just me though. we've always ran komatsu for the most part over the years, but when it comes to loaders nothing really compares to a volvo. ever tried them?

"Just buy a cat", they have auto open doors. Open a little door in the step and hit a switch and the door opens.
Ride control system on the Komatsu is waaay better than the cat of the same size also

Yeah I wasn’t very impressed with the ride of the cat, vision in the Komatsu while loading trucks was better also. Z bar was right in the way on the cat. In cab vision on the cat was better though. I put a couple hundred hours on each recently. Also didn’t dig the cat joystick either, rather my levers
Komatsu was better on fuel by 40-60l a day also

So assuming it would run around in price around $300,000 US dollars perhaps bit more.
Those back fenders can be a problem in the winter with ice and snow.

Why don't you use a joystick steering? Actually haven't seen those in a lot of loaders in US and Canada. Isn't it allowed? Super common in Norway.

Do you need to open the fender and door to fill it up with fuel? I might have put it next the the def or somewhere more assessable, just a thought.
the diesel fill point is just behind the fender so I don't think the fender should be too in the way maybe I've never seen one in person
