I don't like the fact that Friedman throws this idea out there - he's just thinking out loud - but then every Vancouver hockey writer/youtuber runs with it and talks about it as a trade that's coming. There is no basis to this and he said so himself. Now look at it objectively and you can see this is not realistic. It's not plausible and it had no basis to begin with so nobody with legitimate credentials should be discussing this as a possibility. Talking about it for fun is one thing, but that's not what everyone is doing.
Foote and Gonchar must guide and coach Soucy and Myers into reliable and smart defense. Often, this type of inconsistency comes from a player's confusion about their role. Maybe both Myers and Soucy should focus on just being hard to play against defensive defensemen due to their size and reach and pair each of them with a more offensive puck-moving defenseman, like Brannstrom. I would love to see Mattheson or Andersson added to the Canucks' defense core. The idea of bringing back Zadorov is insanity at 5 million per season.
I wouldn't call Soucy-Myers pairing great. If they were a 3rd pairing D, they could play sheltered minutes. If Boston would eat some of the contract to bring Z down to $4 mill, I could see a future with Hughes-Willander as1st pairing and Zadorov-Hronek as 2nd pairing.
Zadorov and Lindholm on last years contracts would be great for us. But those contracts look brutal. No interest unless they’re throwing in a sweetener
I doubt that Boston would retain any salary and Van would be stuck with term and value they didn't want. It would be both managements admitting mistakes. Feels like media is fishing for anything these days
No to Zadorov. Things will improve once players are back from injury. Canucks will have a clearer picture as to what is needed before trade deadline. Demko will make a huge difference with a solid back up in Lankinen. Once Myers and Soucy get going we will be good.
Soucy has been rough lately, him and Myers together have been hard to watch. If they were to trade anyone I would be less upset about soucy. In terms of bringing back zadorov I think it makes no sense.
Not paying 6x5 for a third line defenseman that didn't have amazing track record before the playoff breakout with the Canucks last season. Can't blame a man for securing the best contract available to him, but the last thing Canucks need is following the footsteps of Sweeney's reckless signings. 3x3 for Myers is already way too much
Big Z burned his bridge, despite mutual interest, Nikita Zadorov ultimately priced himself out of Vancouver's plans, so the only way he could be back is by taking a pay cut.
Man are you out to lunch Myers is not a fan favorite. He's a dumpster fire in his own zone and doesn't play the body enough for being a giant. Myers for Zadorov trade would be a steal but bad management
How about Big Z and Lindholm with say a million each salary retention, a 1st this year and a 2nd and 3rd the following year for Petty, Sucey and maybe Heinen.
It's pretty annoying, they bring up bains a lot and despite him being a local dude which is cool, he needs a lot more time in the oven. Lek clearly has more raw talent and they only gave him 2 games.
Cole was directly & indirectly responsible for letting in 4 to 5 goals in the playoffs! He dumped the puck on the same side 2 - 3 times & then gives up possession. We could've killed the Oilers & moved on but those stupid plays cost us. I remember yelling at the TV many times at Cole. Everyone on X thought Cole was on Edmonton payroll!
@@MrCryptler69 The guy played with a broken foot FFS. He's a warrior who'll eat pucks and play hurt without thinking twice and was key in stabilizing the D which was one of the reasons the PK was so good. Not sure if you were watching but Hughes didnt have a great playoffs either especially when the physicality and intensity ramped up. Got constantly pushed off the puck, manhandled down low and stifled offensively but no its on the 34 year old third pair PK defender playing with a broken foot. I have nothing but respect for Cole and there's a reason he's played in the league for so long.
I would wait it out for a Boston buyout and sign him to a 3yr 3mil contract. No team would want him especially with his age and contract. This is the only viable option to make it worth our while. Let Boston deal with this problem. We lost capital already getting him here and now we're set to lose more to reacquire him? I would loose a lot of faith in Allvin if he does such a trade and loose confidence in his abilities.
Love Big Z but realistically he’s gunna get winded if he’s tryna defend someone like McDavid or anyone like that . We need a defenseman that is like Big Z but that can actually skate and defend good !
This is just Elliott talking through his butt again. When you get Demko and Miller back you’ll see the team find itself again. This is all just Toronto sports writers daily diarrhea.
Just walk away from Z. I am always amused at the choices on defense for this era of the NHL. Z won't fix the defense with his career plus/minus of plus 11 over 663 games. The wisest choice may have been signing Ian Cole to the deal that Soucy has. Cole is playing 20 minutes a night in Utah and his defense is missed.
if boston wants to get rid of him bad enough they could retain 20% and send desharnais and hoggy the other way. 4 mill for the last 2 years of his deal wouldn't be the end of the world with the cap being 105-106 or more by then.
Myers is a fan favorite? Never heard that before

Canucks didn't want to pay that much before, why would they give up an asset for a contract they didn't want when he was free.
exactly, it makes zero sense.

wtf why would the Canucks take on that contract? Either Boston retains or he remains!
I thought we were over these kinds of moves as an organization
Big Z was half of the picture. Ian Cole was traded as well.
did cole get traded.I thought he left as unsigned ufa?
by the time the playoffs rolled around cole's game had dropped off considerably.
@@CashMacGregorgreat reg season , atrocious playoff performance
Cole Was UFA @okanoganleakdetector
Ian Cole was a ghost in the playoffs!

I also miss big Z. That hit tossing Evander Kane onto the bench will live on in my memory forever. 😂
Zadorov and Lindholm on last years contracts would be great for us.
But those contracts look brutal. No interest unless they’re throwing in a sweetener
Bring rain gear if you come to Vancouver, always wet over here in winter!
Last year I went to a few games, and I was yelling, "Myers your a liability." But the thing is that he's our liability
He would solve any Canucks defense issues providing they can trade prospects but not damage the prospect pool
Not really, he will bring toughness but he is not a top 4 Dman. There is a reason why Boston wants to trade him 😂
I doubt that Boston would retain any salary and Van would be stuck with term and value they didn't want. It would be both managements admitting mistakes. Feels like media is fishing for anything these days
The Bruins coach who just got fired commented on Zadorov stating he is a lousy defence man
Tucker Poolman has played games for the Canucks they were just so long ago and he didn't play many
No to Zadorov. Things will improve once players are back from injury. Canucks will have a clearer picture as to what is needed before trade deadline. Demko will make a huge difference with a solid back up in Lankinen. Once Myers and Soucy get going we will be good.
Young Sinatra cover goes hard

no.he would still be here, if he wanted to be here.Actions speak louder than words.
good luck in Boston
Zadorov worked well with the canucks, but they need a very good deal for him, and don't call him "big z" call him lil z
Yes get him back be well worth it

Bring back the tt line and a 3rd pair branstrom soucy line would work
Myers. Is. NOT. A. Fan. Favourite. Don't know where you got that from.
When he said Myers and Soucy were liked by fans it was a laugh riot
How about Big Z and Lindholm with say a million each salary retention, a 1st this year and a 2nd and 3rd the following year for Petty, Sucey and maybe Heinen.
Boston retains .5m and suddenly its a realistic trade
It was just a thought. I think it’s highly unlikely,
Why would they send down Lek, he's been playing better than half the team?........Sigh, Dummies!
It's pretty annoying, they bring up bains a lot and despite him being a local dude which is cool, he needs a lot more time in the oven. Lek clearly has more raw talent and they only gave him 2 games.
They miss Cole more than they do Z.
I don’t miss playoff Cole

I sure do not. Dude scored on his own team 2 times at least lol
Cole was horrible
It's NOT a trade rumor by Freidman. It was just a thought he had. Check the facts before blowing up the internet with trade rumor nonsense
I wanted Z to stay, but after he left for Boston, I wouldn’t want him back on the roster

Sure we'll take him with 40% retained 😂
Get back Zadorov! Or fire the GM!
Now it just gets weird.
Love Big Z but realistically he’s gunna get winded if he’s tryna defend someone like McDavid or anyone like that . We need a defenseman that is like Big Z but that can actually skate and defend good !
Dont want Z ...no thanks
NO Z. Nucks obviously dodged a bullet, y would u want to put your head back in the line of fire???
Zadorov back would be sweet
Z is sucking in Boston. No thanks.

I wouldn’t do Hoglander for Zadorov straight up
hell no big z showed he didnt want to be in van so let him stay in the dumpster fire
Why would they want a guy that doesn't want to be in Vancouver. Dumb
Zadorov for Juulsen and a 3rd in 2026
A big NO THANKS from me.
Dude how can we get Z on a one year rental? He’s under contract….. wow. Unsubscribed
Pure conjecture by Elliott! Relax, it is not going to happen!!
Zzzzzzzzz
meyers sucks!
If it happens Alvin get Kastalic to ...with Zadorov
