The crazy thing is that I’m almost 70. My wife and had always planned to travel like the two of you but life sometimes takes a different road. We ended up taking care both of our mothers and I still have my 92 year or mother with me. I lost the love of my life last April after being together for 50 years and for the last year have lived my travels through the two of you and the rest of the van life crew. I have to say the two of you are my favorite. The way you love each other and how how do everything together brings me back to when my wife and I were young. I’m amazed at all you have accomplished. So thank you for helping this old man get through the hardest time of his life.
Manuel C Garcia Jr .. I DO feel your pain and agree with you that we 'old fogies' can live vicariously through the younger generation thanks to the internet. You are earning your place in heaven for how you have chosen to care for your mother.🙏🕊
Manuel! Cheers to you for the life you have experienced! It is never to late. I’m 65, still working FT, but hope, prayers & planning will have me traveling in a van at 70 for retirement! See you on the road?!
Manuel, I am so so sorry for your deep loss! I'm happy to hear that these amazing women help you through your grief. They are VERY inspiring, for sure. May they continue to be a balm to your 💔. I'm sure your wife was an amazing person & that she watches over you.
Omg, you made me burst out laughing when you called yourself a millennial, as if that was 'dating' yourself.🤣 I'm a boomer who did this kind of 'travelling' (on weekends, vacations and moves across country) in my old, beat-up car(s), taking the back roads of America (and later, Europe) with my tiny dog(s), sleeping in the car wherever I could find a safe place (no Walmart parking lots in THOSE days) and PRAYING I would find a gas station soon (no GPS either). Flat maps on the hood of my car blowing in the wind, peeing on the roadside and sleeping in the back seat tucked up under a thin blanket with the dog(s) and freezing my ass off. Gawd, how I loved those days! Times have changed and this is why I honestly live vicariously through the two of you now.💕 May the force ever be with you ladies and keep you safe from breakdowns. Much love, respect and greetings from The Netherlands (where I ended up at the end of the day).☮🕊
The biggest change in "van life" is most people are in it not entirely for the travel experience put for the full-time "cheap" living. We parked our fiver at the start of Co*id and bought land. We have talked to many friends and decided only to do short trips due to the number of people who have purchased campers. We live near state parks and they are FULL! Keep up the great work Ladies!
Being and interracial marriage, I’m so glad you mentioned that some people can’t conceal their relationship for safety. My husband and I have faced a few scary moments. I’m so sorry that you have too. It sucks that even today we still have to be worried about these things.
I totally understand what you girls are talking about.. because when I first came out.. my mother told me.. whatever you do.. please do not put any neon lights on yourself.. do not bring attention to yourself.. because I don't want to worry about someone harming you.. because of who you want to be..
This conversation answered so many of my questions and doubts! The thing that jumped out at me is your comparison of vanlife today vs. pre-covid. You are coming to the same conclusion in North America as I did in West Europe: it basically is dying from its popularity. Nice spots are full, locals are fed up with campers leaving trash and as a result, it's become a hectic, hunted lifestyle instead of the freedom it used to provide. It's no coincidence that you, Eamon&Bec, Max&Occy are all settling down at the same time. I'm doing the same, although I have neither the money nor the time to create a rural paradise, so I'll have to cope with city life and try to get out forest bathing often enough to remain mentally sane.
I'm 83 and I look at vans thinking about traveling again. We didn't do it so long, like we didn't do camping all that long. I was born in New York City and spent many decades in the Los Angles area, but I've longed for remote places in nature. I do cherish many memories of various places. Thanks kiddos I learn so much during this chat.
Love Following you guys. My husband and I have a cabin on an island in northern Ontario. It had been abandoned for 4 years before we bought it. The real estate agent didn’t even want to show it to us. Trees were growing up between the cracks in the deck, the doors weren’t locked so people were squatting there. BUT, the price was right and as we drove away the further away we got the more we loved it so we bought it! I have often said to Fred we should have filmed our journey of renovation cause we had a ton of adventures. Everything has to be brought in on our boat… lumber, couch, beds, table mattresses. No electricity; everything runs off of propane except our generator which we fire up to run our saws. And, always 2 Labradors that share this place with us. Right now we have Fletcher and Billie but before that there was Casey, Foster and Ruby. We are still working on this place 13 years after we bought it. P.S. get a pup😉
Having lived as an expat in central Mexico for ten years, your story of returning to your van with Coyotes sitting in it, is one of the scariest heard of and I've heard a lot of scary stories. Good podcast!
Love, love, love the podcast! I want to see any of your friends and family. Tyler & Todd, Max & Occy, Porter and more. I really want to hear how you two reacted to Max & Occy’s new property. I was literally in tears throughout the entire video. Just hearing you two visit with other good people will always make my day.
Like Manuel I am a 79 yo guy and I love your travels and how you work together. I appreciate being able to share the journey as I no longer can travel. Podcast is such a great thing. Thank you for being so real.
you 2 are lovely! vanwives appeals to lots of people your pack includes little old people like me 60 year old lady, and my 70 year old husband..love the pod cast😊
I defiantly understand the tag removal for privacy. I love the pod cast it was like we were sitting on the couch with you both having a conversation of how you two got started!! Great Job both of you !! 🐾 ❤
I went to Australia in 1990 (ya, a million years ago) after finishing university. We had to use pay phones to call home. It was THE BEST EXPERIENCE of my life (I am 58 now) and the people I met at the hostel and working are still friends. I can’t wait until I can go back to visit the friends I met - by travelling, talking, working and meeting. Internet was not a thing. Ouch, I am old. But I am so grateful.
I will literally drive your van from Canada to Arizona this summer, next stop Baja for body work! Just say the word and we can make it happen. Love the pod, love you both, and can't wait to keep tuning in. ❤
Many decades ago I worked for Goodyear and we had an amazing customer "George" who was a greek welder and not even 5 feet tall. He owned a 1964 Chevy II with 4" blocks on the pedals. Anyway George told me a just after he bought the car brand new he'd gone to Greece for a holiday and shipped the car over so he'd have something to drive. Once he was back, he said the bill to ship it there and back was more than buying the car new had been so he bought a second identical 1964 chevy II and then he shipped it over so he'd always have the same car to drive when he went on holiday. 🙂 Thank you for all the smiles, you two and the critters rock!
Love the podcast! Love the stories! Thanks ladies...My husband and I sold out in 2018 and have been in our RV ever since. Your stories are so relatable. We have no plan, but we're making it work! ~Lynette
Van life is cool. I did van life long before it was hip. I loved the freedom of having a bathroom whenever you needed one. I loved the freedom of traveling free. Sleeping free. Being free.
I feel like this is a lot of vanlifer's stories. When covid hit and everyone was called home. When covid hit, is when I decided to build an off-grid THOW (my retirement plan). Watching you two transition from van to homestead gave me hope that I could do it myself (literally building the damn thing from trailer up). It's slow going, but I will get there. Well, I have to get there. Rent in NS is out to lunch crazy now. Hard times in the Maritimes. ;-)
I love hearing all of your stories! So much good advice! I, too, had the crankshaft sensor go on my van last summer. I had driven from BC to Halifax, NS with no problems, and then there was. Thankfully, the mechanic that fixed it was super close to where I was staying! And yes, I have a 10 mm!
I think more young people and single people wanted the van life experience for many reasons, it really exploded, even here in South Africa. For many years, van life was more for the retired, yes. As a young couple, you're building your cabin now, and I'm selling my home of many years and planning my VW Kombi build for my retirement, including a roof rack for my surf board 🤣 I'm a seventies gal and always loved Kombi's. That's the cycle of life... my parents owned an RV and toured for many years in the nineties. You need a certain amount of pioneering spirit to take on these challenges. Great to listen to your life stories...
Love the podcast. I like just listening to you talk about anything and everything. I would like to see Max & Occy on here. Since he just bought land I'm sure you two could give lots of advice. Wish Occy could meet your girls.
Interesting....how van life seemed new at the time. I'm 73. 'Going back to the land' was the ''thing'' that we did....guess each generation has its own adventures. Love your podcast.
Love love love this new podcast. Been watching Vanwives for a while now. Enjoyed the videos of travel and cabin build. Now loving to sit on the couch with you two and her all the back stories.
I have never sat on TH-cam this long before but I enjoy every second of it; your podcast was very interesting and I definitely could relate. Back in the mid 70’s I lived in my converted Ford van and miss it so much but today I live in the suburbs in Illinois. I herd you say a few times that that you want to get out again and I really hope you do but time flies and it’s so easy to get wrapped up in the house life. See you next Wednesday.
Yawl are real good at not speaking over each other. Sound quality is on point. I think that 20 min a week isn't enough so this is perfect. I think more vanlifers should start pods.
Great conversation. You forget how much you have achieved since your first day at the cabin. You'll have to go back and watch the videos!! Editing great as well, this must be taking you a lot of time.
Love ❤ the new podcast! The story of the beginnings of your journey was fabulous and funny 😄. “Wandering aimlessly into our dream” Absolutely LOVED that quote Gonna go back and watch all the vlogs I’ve missed 😊
I had to work through 2020-2022 because I work for State Forestry doing initial attack on Wildland fires and they considered us “essential employees “ so we absolutely had to work. It was very strange because some ppl couldn’t attend safety meetings, which I didn’t mind. I’m glad I worked through that time because I’m that much closer to retirement.
Loving the podcast. You started to address how you found your cabin via drone shots. I’ve always wondered, was it just chance that you ended in Nova Scotia or was there some Tyler & Todd connection that led you to NS in particular?
I've been doin vanlife for about 3 years now. For me the #1 most important thing it has taught me is honestly about me.... I have grown so much, learned so much about myself and fr learned to fall in love w me. Now for me I'm alone in my travels which is what I want and because of being alone I have all that time to reflect on myself and I realized I adapted a lot of how I acted, maybe my opinions etc around others thoughts n feelings etc if that makes sense. I know it's possible to do this as a couple traveling as well but I think it's so important and means so much because it's not just traveling and seeing new places, meeting n making new friends, learning how to change ur own oil n poo in a hole 😂, it's so much more and so yea after watching this podcast n reflecting on my own vanlife journey I realize how much I've grown n learned to love who I've become and in the "real world" I think we become so involved in the hussle n bustle of everyday that we don't get the chance to experience that in the way vanlife allows. I hope this is understandable lol I know what I'm trying to say just not sure how to explain it. And that's a big part of what I'm trying to say...wo experiencing it, it's harder to understand. I definitely recommend giving it a try!! As I said I'm 3 yrs in and I have no plans on stopping yet!! Hope u enjoyed my short novel!!! 😂 ✌🏼💙🐾
I really enjoyed that. We are trying to implement more regular "digital detoxes" to keep that freedom you feel when disconnected. We did a three day one and during it our van broke down in the Romanian mountains so we were forced to communicate all by hand signals, (rural Romanians did not speak English) we were using paper maps only, It was amazing at the end of it to be able to say we managed to deal with it all with no phones or technology. We never would have had the experiences we had if we just called our insurance and got breakdown cover, I'm glad we had to do it old school (had to stick to it cuz we were doing a video on it 😂) You should defo do Eastern Europe, it's awesome, so untouched and free feeling.
When I decided to build out a van, I had no idea it was a “thing” until I started looking. Ended up buying new because all the salesmen were liars. Still slowly working on it. I’m 66 and my body doesn’t work like it used to. I’ll get there one day. Love your podcasts! You two are so inspirational!
Laura Travis .. Take it from this ol' Hippie, you're still a baby yet and have lots of road trips left in you, even if they're just to the local farmer's market.☮
You too are so loved and I just love it here I am sitting here watching you with my coffee and my cookies I just made with my cannabutter I'm loving it I'm so glad I'm awake I love you too kisses and hugs my friends my virtual friends good job on this Podcast so good😊, Like I always say keep it incognito always on the low never let them know your business that's your privacy and I guard that highly loyalty respect my friend
This was so enjoyable listening to you two, you are both so comfortable and natural talking to the camera. The more I watch you both, the more I love you has friends. Your dog looked so relaxed asleep on Jaz's leg. Love from Mike. ❤❤
It was your travel videos that got me hooked! The cabin videos are just icing on the cake ❤. I really appreciate how you share so much of your lives yet keep so much to yourselves! It’s a great balance from my perspective 🥰🥰🥰
Oh my God I just love the podcast I love seeing you guys twice in one week it's awesome and I love the stories the way you talk about it just makes me picture it and want to be there but I'm too old for that kind of travel now so I will live through what you have done so thanks girls very interesting very lovely stories and I love it all and I love you guys you are awesome
I have followed you for years, this podcast was so awesome. It feels good to get to know you on a more personal level and to understand how one thing led to another and where you are now. Thank you for sharing this.
Really REALLY enjoying these deep dives/story time podcasts. Y’all are absolutely right: you can’t get this in depth on the regular channel but it’s awesome as a long time fan to hear these longer chatty stories. Well done ladies! ❤
So happy to be here watching your podcast. About the van,, and wanting to get work done on it but I’m Mexico. I vote (again, previous videos comment) I vote Eamon, from Eamon and Bec. They are buying/ staying in Mexico right now. He could fly here and drive your van back! Or they both come in their van and he drives yours back. You all can do a collab and an episode, and I can live vicariously through all y’all’s adventures. Thanks for listening, love you all. I’ll continue listening now, just had to get that put ✌🏼
Love love love the podcast...seems more personable & so many fun stories...look forward to many more !!! Good Luck I know this willbe a huge hit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG u guys this was the BEST. I hope you two do not take this as me being a WEIRDO lol alright so I am low key weird 🤣🤣 this podcast made me feel so much closer to you. Like I really feel part of the pack now. And for someone like me that is speaking volumes. Thank you so much for being so open with us. The two of you together have this enormous ball of energy filled with calmness, loving, caring accepting vibes just all around you. I know how over the top this sounds but I am just being honest. There are not many people on this rock we lived on that I can say that about. You two are just beautiful humans. And of course the real queens of this family are the fur girls lol they are just so chill. You guys are great moms as well.
You gals are just truly amazing. What you've already done in your lives... just WOW. This was a great pod cast. It was fun learning about your start and early travels. I'd love to learn more about your solar specs. Like in great detail. I know most of you viewers wouldn't care for that but it seems like such a big system for your cabin.
OK, so it's 1pm UK time. I'm late. Have to say your cabin is sooooo much brighter now. "Flying by the seat of your pants" This was so good. I feel I'm getting to know you guys even more.
This episode made me want to rewatch all ur vids from the beginning!! So cool to get to know y'all better!! This is great! 1st n only podcast I watch!! ✌🏼💙🐾
I was a solo van lifer traveling the US and Canada. I now live on the coast of Oaxaca Mexico as a solo lesbian old woman. Learning how to be so independent traveling in my van gave me the confidence to make the move down here. We have so much in common!!!! I have been here 3 years and miss my van!!
Hi girls! I’m an OG. I’ve watched both your presentation and videography skills become some of the best on TH-cam! I love how you interact. I have a question - and let’s be real - what was your true feeling /reaction when you first saw the condition of the cabin? Love you girls!
I watched y’all in Mexico 🇲🇽 It was fun, but ….. I so much more enjoy the cabin life! I just love the wilderness soooo much. My dream. At 59 years old I keep telling myself not to lose hope. 😊
As an OG member of the pack, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to your van life story. I agree that watching YT videos of places far and wide is a key element of my entertainment diet. AND the community around creators is delightful. You gals “jibberjabber” so quickly during your pack chat that time just flies. I love the couch set up for your studio. Great start. I watched episode #1 but didn’t have time to comment. Loved the sweatshirt commentary and your palpable excitement at launching the podcast. Talk soon.
I suggest that you put a washing machine in your big 'shed ' put up some clothes lines or install a dryer. I love you pack. From the Sunshine Coast of BC 🇨🇦 ~ Jennifer 🎉❤
Omg I just love learning about how you started van life. And how you's are making a home base that is safe for yourselves and your 2 beautiful dog's (pack). And showing us all that if you keep to a dream it will become possible to do it. Also I love all of your videos that you do post as well.
I would love to hear about each of your personal stories, how you grew up, what made you who are today. I know that stuff is pretty personal but I’m sure your stories are relatable and can probably help someone that might be going through some of the things you have had to go through.

Not so much the "old" man Manuel 🤗 - Mick Jagger is 78 and still touring with the Rolling Stones 😎 and you are young at heart
Manuel! Cheers to you for the life you have experienced! It is never to late. I’m 65, still working FT, but hope, prayers & planning will have me traveling in a van at 70 for retirement! See you on the road?!

My name is Mark and I've been glued to all your episodes. I still remember that you were drywalling in your cabin
Like Manuel I am a 79 yo guy and I love your travels and how you work together. I appreciate being able to share the journey as I no longer can travel. Podcast is such a great thing. Thank you for being so real.
Thank you for coming along with us on each adventure 💛

two smart and amazing ladies! Learning so much from your podcast. :)
Love Jazz and Chrystal
I smiled my way through this. Now, my cheeks hurt. Loved this video.

12:05 Not sure if CA says this...flying by the seat of your pants is a saying here in USA.
I came in at the very beginning of cabin life so I missed van life altogether 😢 Oh well! Just another reason to binge Van wives!🐾❤️❤️🐾
Love love love this new podcast. Been watching Vanwives for a while now. Enjoyed the videos of travel and cabin build. Now loving to sit on the couch with you two and her all the back stories.

The good old days
❤❤❤❤❤❤ I love watching you guys and I love the podcast thank you for doing that
Watching this on my TV but got on my phone so I could tell you I'm loving this podcast thing. I love you both. Have a great day girls!!
Loll I agree about shrimp being sea insects!!... it's funny but she's right. Lobsters are really big insects then.
10 mil merch that’s what started everything that would be awesome!!!❤❤❤❤
Yawl are real good at not speaking over each other. Sound quality is on point. I think that 20 min a week isn't enough so this is perfect. I think more vanlifers should start pods.
We remember those early videos! You two are so much more natural on camera now! Congrats on the Pod! 💚🏳🌈
Great conversation. You forget how much you have achieved since your first day at the cabin. You'll have to go back and watch the videos!!
Editing great as well, this must be taking you a lot of time.
Another great job ladies, can't wait for the next one, but first there's next Sunday! See you soon!
Love ❤ the new podcast! The story of the beginnings of your journey was fabulous and funny 😄.
“Wandering aimlessly into our dream” Absolutely LOVED that quote
Gonna go back and watch all the vlogs I’ve missed 😊
✌🏼💙🐾
Melinda Marie .. There's nothing quite so humbling as learning to 'know thyself'. Enjoy your adventures.🌹
I am enjoying these conversations! You guys are so cool! ❤
Really enjoyed the pod cast ❤❤ looking forward to your next one !!!
Yeah, Rhonda the Honda is the best, though.
My (may she rest in peace) Saab 900 was Sabine. 💛
You still coming on sunday right
When I decided to build out a van, I had no idea it was a “thing” until I started looking.
@@LindaCasey oh, I absolutely do and I can’t wait!!

It was your travel videos that got me hooked! The cabin videos are just icing on the cake ❤. I really appreciate how you share so much of your lives yet keep so much to yourselves! It’s a great balance from my perspective 🥰🥰🥰

Well done ladies, I truly enjoyed your podcast! 😊
WOW o WOW Fantastic podcast. A year of words crammed into 48 minutes. :)
Flying by the seat of your pants lol
I am invested in this new series!! It really is like hanging out with you ❤ so much fun!
This is why we watch you! We love to hear you talk and your stories! I'm obsessed with your podcasts! ❤
Great job ladies. It is like just sitting around having a conversation with you. Thanks for sharing your life style.

I love the two episode debut! Thank you for that gift!
This is great girls! You’re going to be a huge success at this!!! Loving your story!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
OK, so it's 1pm UK time. I'm late.
Have to say your cabin is sooooo much brighter now.
"Flying by the seat of your pants"
This was so good. I feel I'm getting to know you guys even more.

Hi girls! Nós I Can be inspired on Wednesdays and Sundays! 🫶🙏🌷
I have an un-named Honda 🤔 Maybe she's a Ronda and I didn't even realise 😂 Listening whilst doing the washing up, UK
Love that you brought that knowledge with you. It really does teach you a lot xx
Hi girls. This was so good. Loved it. Lots of love from Sweden ❤
Hi girls!
NEVER EVER loose hope! Got for it. Now is the time. Tiny steps count. Live your dream❣
Talk soon.
Really enjoyed listening to you both , keep up the good work😊❤
Love this pod cast different side of the both you can’t wait for the next episode
I hope you two are always very happy in everything that you do😊
I suggest that you put a washing machine in your big 'shed ' put up some clothes lines or install a dryer. I love you pack. From the Sunshine Coast of BC 🇨🇦 ~ Jennifer 🎉❤
Either way U are awesome and loved yr tag name of vanwife❤
Congratulations Crystal & Jazmin on your exciting new journey pod cast, so very Happy for You Both ❤
I was a drywall finisher for 27 years and would have loved to help you 2
Literally watched you from the first video. Also, very glad you got Tal and Mads a start. My weekly viewing is now excellent!!
Patrick!!! Thank you for being here from the start means the world to have you 💛
Omg I just love learning about how you started van life.
You are so relaxing to listen and watch ❤
Loving the podcast and your Vanwives journey. Totally agree about disconnecting and being in the room. Love the size of your couch too.
Very cool guys...😉❤️
Loving this new format. Great job! Have a nice day everyone.
Speaking of homesteading, how are the greenhouse plants coming? Haven’t seen it in a while.
