The best time ever, I just sit here soaking in the nostalgia. What a time to be in my teens seeing bands like this. I can’t ever thank the boys enough. Crystal Palace this July will bring back all these memories but live once again. I can’t wait!!
This is such an happy song about the sad truth of all my relationships. We were hoping for some romance, all we found was more despair. Over and over again.
I love how Bloc Party has song after song which becomes my favourite! Helicopter to Banquet to Hunting For Witches to Flux to Uniform to Ares to Mercury to One More Chance to Talons to Your Visits Getting Shorter to Compliments to Song For Clay to SRXT To England To Rhododendron to Skeleton to Like Eating Glass to She's Hearing Voices to Signs to Sunday to So Here We Are to Positive Tension to The Prayer and it goes on + repeats itself! They said new material will be released by the end/summer!
The number of people that left that main stage after this set was unreal. Bloc Party should've been headlining that night, it's an outrage they've never headlined. This is their festival. Hopefully this hiatus won't last too long.
Love the live version. Have they played Flux live like the studio version? In the live version the lead is mainly played an octave lower and Kele doesn't go for the higher notes when singing... but still love it!
@juZby God no. This isn't Bloc Party's festival, because this is a MUSIC festival. There's no right or wrong in music, so when people say that a festival belongs it a band it's arrogant. Do people not understand that music is a form of expression? Bach is fantastic, but so is Aerosmith, but in a festival, music is music and everyone should love what they love. This isn't THEIR festival. This is the world's.
@blurayz3 You see Radiohead's influence all over Bloc Party. For example, look at the covers of OK Computer and A Weekend In The City and tell me there isn't an influence. Listen to the use of brass and samples on "Mercury" and tell me they aren't influenced "The National Anthem." And listen to the solo on "Hunting For Witches" and tell me it doesn't sound like Jonny Greenwood. It doesn't mean they aren't a good band, but it does prevent them from reaching the heights that Radiohead have.
@Lilflex2009 oh you fool! dont talk about people knowing their music. bloc party are on 'hiatus' and kele released a solo album this year. he was there.
Bloc Party has a ravey vibe that got the crowd jumping, but Radiohead has a more...hippy vibe? Definitely more atmospheric than energetic. Instead of jumping people just sat back and watched in awe.
@blurayz3 No I'm saying that saying a band that wears their influences on their sleeves and who do not make a serious effort to build upon them is less original than a band who try to push thing forward . Oasis, for example, have repeatedly told about their aspirations to be like The Beatles and you can hear it in their music and it's intentional. Same with The Killers and U2. You're right, we are all entitled to our opinions, but isn't the point of these comment arguments to argue your case?
Why are Bloc Party fans bashing Radiohead and vice-versa? They are two incredibly talented groups, certainly have their differences, but I would expect the educated fans of each to understand they both have loads of talent.
@MRjoshc328 - naa man... if they did the whole crowd would be sleeping by the time bloc party came on... no joke though... there were ppl sleeping... ont he grass... some standing during radiohead...
@mynamedoesntfitgah Because you are making the mistake of comparing The Bends to Intimacy However Kid A can be compared to Intimacy due to them both having heavy electronic elements (and plus they both were after guitar heavy albums) And trust me Kid A was light years ahead of Intimacy in terms of what you can do with electronic music
I don't even think Bloc Party would allow Radiohead to open for them, the same way Thom York wouldn't allow Radiohead to open for Pixies. Either way both great forward thinking bands!
@TheParanoidAndroid1 no, i dont want to argue my case at all, i dont see why people are arguing at all, i just dont agree that those bands are just rip-offs, and that Radiohead is the most forward thinking band in the world.Theyre a good band, ill give you that, but i wouldnt say theyrein a league of their own, not at all.
I'm a huge fan of Bloc Party but to be honest you are all idiots for arguing that Bloc Party are better, Radiohead are internationally renowned, there last album was number 1 here AND in America, a rare feat (especially for such a cult band) They have had three masterpieces (OK Computer (widely regarded as the best album of the nineties and sometimes even the best album ever quite frequently), Kid A (widely regarded as the best album of the 2000's) and In Rainbows)
While Bloc Party have had one brilliant album (Silent Alarm), one really good album (Weekend in the City) and an iffy album (Intimacy), they have not headlined Glastonbury TWICE, there albums have never been considered the best EVER, while they are AMAZING at what they do, they have never innovated music like Radiohead, and have never successfully totally changed their sound album after album like Radiohead, you people don't have a clue
@blurayz3 The Beatles I'll give you, but they were pretty much the first band that can be defined as a band as we know it, so you can't really count them. But Muse sound a lot like Radiohead at times, and also Rage Against the Machine. The Killers? You can't mean that, they sound like a bad U2 had a hideous baby with Bruce Springsteen. Oasis? The ones that literally rip off The Beatles all the time? And would admit it? Yeah their seriously original...
Around the time when Bloc Party and British indie rock overall was lit as fuck.
Ikr :(
The best time ever, I just sit here soaking in the nostalgia. What a time to be in my teens seeing bands like this. I can’t ever thank the boys enough. Crystal Palace this July will bring back all these memories but live once again. I can’t wait!!

Bloc Party and this song should not be commented negatively! Share peace brothers and see you guys in the crowd! I love you people!
Flux all the way!
Every time I hear these guys, I get massively amazed by the drummer, that guy plays with such energy. Long live BP

the lasers where mental that night! I was right near the front and what a way to warm up for radiohead....Quality night!

This is the best this song has ever sounded. The studio version truly misses the rhythm guitar off the final chorus. Beautifully ties it all together

This song sounds so much better live thanon the album why did they add all that editing. :/
tienes razón, deberían sacar un álbum con esta canción con este estilo
@Renegademaster15 Only flaw with that is that you have to go to Leeds.

@pasheeran Yeah, true. Tis coz reading is televised and leeds isn't.

@Swiftsnatch8000 Yeah definitely. You doing '11 as well? I am :)

@matthewT385 hahaa me too! :P is he saying Romance?
@Swiftsnatch8000 Well to be honest, being in asia sounds pretty sweet too.
@MrColtrainJones is that important to know?
@blurayz3 No I'm saying that saying a band that wears their influences on their sleeves and who do not make a serious effort to build upon them is less original than a band who try to push thing forward . Good lord, Kele is ripped xD
Why are Bloc Party fans bashing Radiohead and vice-versa? They are two incredibly talented groups, certainly have their differences, but I would expect the educated fans of each to understand they both have loads of talent.
@TheParanoidAndroid1 oh im sure Muse,The beatles, The killers, Oasis, those lot would have something to say about that
@Lilflex2009
Dunno, both have their moments.
@Chrisendolls what new player?
2018?
@MRjoshc328 - naa man... if they did the whole crowd would be sleeping by the time bloc party came on... no joke though... there were ppl sleeping... ont he grass... some standing during radiohead...
@mrskids This was even better at Leeds than Reading :)
@mrskids Trust me if you had been to Leeds over Reading you wouldn't consider it a flaw
@knighttastic Good so it's not only me!
@mynamedoesntfitgah Because you are making the mistake of comparing The Bends to Intimacy

Sometimes i wished i lived in the UK for festivals like these. Seriously, Bloc Party followed up by Radiohead? Cant ask for a much better line up.

@prpqmnj I know!! My brother said Bloc party are sell-outs. I punched him in the face.

2:45

i agree with what you said, but Radiohead dominated everything
kele out here looking like a fortnite character
