Not exactly. He has set up the rules for binding vows to be in 2 types. 1. Binding vows between two people. These are the same general concept of, I make a deal with someone else in exchange for something. Think Mahito offering to fix Mechamaru in exchange for information on jujutsu society. These binding vows are specifically have heavy consequences for breaking the rules of vow, though the consequences is mysterious. 2. Binding vows with oneself. These are usually self imposed conditions in exchange for strength. Nanami and his overtime is an easy example of this, he gives up having full power during the day for having extra strength “after hours”. Now the major thing about these is that the consequence for breaking these vows are basically none, you just lose what you gained. So if Nanami decided to go 100% on the clock he’d just lose the bonus from overtime.
@@juliansmith7752 BVs should have bigger consequences than “whatever you gained is lost” with self imposed vows. It makes it so there’s no real cost when you break it which I think feels very odd. Also we haven’t seen one example in the story of what happens when BVs made between two people is broken. This system just feels cheap and not explored enough
Sukuna didn’t get a buff with his BV. Sukuna figured out the buff through maho. Sukuna used the BV to get off the buffed slash without a spark so gojo couldn’t read it only able to do this once. After effects are now thy sukuna uses world ending slash he has to use chants, hand signs and point the direction of the attack. If sukuna missed or gojo survived the WES gojo would’ve won. This BV gave every other character an opportunity to anticipate the WES

You can exploit Binding Vows by setting conditions in order to use what you just binded. It just makes it harder to use on the fly. Others make Binding Vows and completely nerf themselves into oblivion. That being said, the fact that Sukuna used a Binding Vow to kill Gojo without him reacting and we had NO CLUE what the fuck happened, it was badly written. We only found out about Sukunas Binding Vow FAR down the line. That's my only issue with the fight. It's was basically an asspull.

knowing how the fight ends, when you read it back you can actually see plenty of signs that gojo was never winning
I kinda disagree. Yeah Gojo was struggling but he was always able to find a way to stand on even ground with Sukuna.
