Linda….how did you get the glass to stay in the frame without adding the back of the frame back on? Are the little clips strong enough to hold the glass in place without the added thickness of the backing?
Oh my goodness, thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. I made a couple of Christmas trees like this with resin, but I like to use it outside because of the fumes, so I was making them in the freezing cold lol. Going to definitely try with the modpodge! Thanks!
Rebecca, I too live in a cold region. I would like to know a little about your process. 1. After you poured the resin, where I’d you leave it to cure? 2. Do you know the temperature of the area you let your project cure? In cold weather I can pour my resin in my garage (65 degrees average) but I am concerned about bringing the item inside to cure. Anyway, any info woukd be appreciated. Thank you!
I love this! I'd love to see you do more of this type of thing made with Mod Podge for those of us who can't take the fumes of resin. I really am so glad I found your channel!!
Thank you! I know I do . So a lot of the art that I do with resin can easily be done with Mod Podge especially if it is done on canvas. The tinier the glass is the better the Mod Podge will hold it together.
Thanks I have many tree videos and a more recent mod podge one on canvas that turned out real nice.th-cam.com/video/o5R4mMuyg0k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Ea5WJnwpHdhMZ0ea
I guess I didn't notice that you hadn't done the modge podge on the glass, cuz that's all I've been doing. I think it turns out okay I did put some glass on one of mine like you did and it made it look a little bit more like snow or like winter. yours looks pretty.
Oh thats so funny, So then does the glass around the crushed glass dry clear ? Or did you use sparkles like I did? I would love to see what you made. lberman6079@gmail.com
This was very important for me. I only have the garage to work and the temperature in ithere during this time of year is not conducive for using resin. I thought I wouldn’t be able to make anything until next year. I can now use the Mod Podge then bring it inside to dry. I am so grateful you did this. What do you think of using Elmer’s Clear glue instead of the Mod Podge??
Regular Elmer glue will dry foggy. Clear Elmer glue dries clear but the glass becomes difficult to shape like with full strength Mod Podge it clumps together, and is hard to shape. I have used the clear Elmer's glue on the bottom to keep things from moving around then poured Mod Podge over. I am currently doing alot with those rhinestone crystals to hold the shape then I have put the clear Elmers glue over the glass to keep it from moving then putting mod Podge over But I believe the clear Elmers glue would hold it alone. Now Im not sure how evenly you could spread it on the rest of the canvas. Ill send you a pic of something I just made
Maybe I will release the video of it today so everyone can see. I bet alot of people cant use the resin in their house. Now I use Art resin , thats the brand name and there are not any dangerous fumes.
@@crazyglasslady Hmmm. I’m headed to town in the next few. Maybe I’ll stop by Wal-Mart. I see that they sell it. It’s closer than Jo-Ann’s. I can put everything together in my garage then bring it inside. Thank you!!!
@@crazyglasslady I have seen you use the clear for things many times. What I’m getting from your message is that the glue begins drying quickly and would be very difficult to work with ( ie. beads, correcting objects, etc) after pouring it on. Ok….bad idea! 🙉
@@RobertVeasquez Well the full strength glue or mod Podge just makes everything clump up but look at the new little gingerbread man I made and at the end I show the difference between the 1/2 strenght and full strength
Well Elmers glue does not dry clear. It would hold everything together but would not be the same as gloss Mod Podge. Clear Elmer's glue dries clear but it may peal up easily.
No. Mod Podge is a water-based polymer (plastic) glue which is waterproof once dry. Elmer's glue is washes off with water after it's dry and peels off glass easily.
Yes that was actually a wide bracelett I had picked up at a garage sale. It consisted of about 10 of them held together by elastic. i wish I had a picture because its probably hard to picture.
@@crazyglasslady I know exactly what you're talking about. I make bracelets but have never seen anything like that. I don't guess you have one to sell?
I can not remember what I used. You could prob just use a dot of e 6000 that dries clear In this video I did the entire tree with liquid nails and that did not show on the back. Need to wear a respierator or go out side with that. I think lexel is similar
I thought it was a little foggy but I recently have been experimenting with Mod Podge again full strength and i thought it dried fairly clear . I will try to do another video with it on glass
I am so sorry I left that part out. When the tree is dry I replace the glass and run a bead of caulk around the perimeter on the back where the glass meets the frame. You can also put the adhesive down 1st around the perimeter where the glass panel would go and then place the glass on top.I show it in many of my other videos , but forgot to put it in this one. Sorry.
@@crazyglasslady they make the squeeze plastic or glue. It comes in colors, and it also comes in clear, and if you brush that on the glass, when it dries, it looks like stain glass crackles
It works well with crushed glass and I have even used it on fire glass but anything heavier then that needs to b glued with something stronger. here is a fire glass tree.th-cam.com/video/o5R4mMuyg0k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6BUHj-5l9BPkisa9

How did you finish the back? Did you just glue the mat onto the frame? I love it!!! (Cynthia)
So the glass was glued in place where it originally sat and then it was done just as you see it.
