  • The annual Big Ten Media Days have finally arrived in Indianapolis as we prepare to kick off the college football and Big Ten football season. This is the most exciting time of year as hope reigns eternal for just about every Big Ten school. Commissioner Tony Petitti will address everyone in his State of the Conference and all eighteen coaches and select players will address the media.
    WELCOME ABOARD!
Plus the Big Ten welcomes newcomers like the USC Trojans, UCLA Bruins, Washington Huskies and Oregon Ducks to bring the Big Ten to eighteen teams. Which begs the question; how big will the Big Ten get? Everyone in college athletics is keeping a watchful eye on FSU and Clemson as they try to sue their way out of the ACC and their awful multi-year grant of rights multi media deal. Which ACC schools might depart the league and seek a new home in the more lucrative Big Ten Conference, for example?
    MANY MEDIA DAYS
With so many schools in the Big Ten, the conference's Media Days will stretch over many days this week. We will give you the run down and tell you what to expect from each coach as he faces the media.
    TWEETS
Finally, we close it out with Tuesday Tweets. As usual, there are several good ones to choose from and we share them with you. Let us see if yours made the list on Locked on Big 10 with Craig Shemon.

Hope I’m still alive and the end of the world - that everybody keeps predicting/talking about - doesn’t happen before our new football indoor training/practice facility is done and Northwestern’s new stadium is done! You just never know these crazy days… be grateful and thankful for each day in the meantime!

People have suggested we are in end times as long as humans have been able to communicate. Don’t believe them. The world might get crazy and things you don’t like will probably happen but the idea that it is the end of the world or the end of humanity is unlikely. If someone is telling you that and selling you a product to “prepare” they are trying to create and exploit your fear for profit. That person does not truly believe the end is nigh or they would give you the product for free. What’s the point of having cash at the end of the world?

The Lucas Oil Field venue is really great for the Big 10 Championship. I went in 2022 when Michigan and Purdue played and it was fantastic! I think it was a wise decision to leave it there for the foreseeable future. Petitti mishandled the situation with Jim Harbaugh in suspending him less than 24 hours before a key game. He has to go!

Craig, in my opinion it’s not just FSU and Clemson are the only marquee schools in the ACC. For me viewership is part of being a marquee. There’s Miami, North Carolina, Virginia, Louisville, Virginia Tech in terms of viewership. This are the sleeping giant schools. Unlike the PAC12, there’s only 5. Am I wrong or right?

All of this will come full circle. Mark my words these conferences will break up. Follow me here.
Why do you think 'we' had all these conferences in the first place? Regions and natural rivalries. For a lack of a better term...deregulation. Now all of a sudden the principal reason to undo all this...wait for it...$$$$$$$. TV money.
Well folks, if we have learned anything from history it's that people fight over money so you don't think in the future schools won't be fighting over money? Of course they will. Of course. Not too mention other reasons that will divide schools like ego's and past transgressions. All of a sudden A&M and Texas are going to be buddies?
You think USC once they regain prominence on the hierarchy are going to be buddies with OSU? One is on the west coast and the other in OHIO. I'll put it another way...these schools are going to need to cash and think some aren't going to try and force out the shares of schools like Purdue or Maryland or Rutgers who aren't carrying their own weight.
So my point is simple. Do you really think this is a long lasting marriage with 16-18 schools? In a best case scenario...I could see the top echelon breaking off and getting their own big pile of cash not to share. Like a super super super conference.
I'll give it 5-10 years max. Dead serious before these conferences blow up.

Court cases can take decades depending on how one party responds to a judgment. There is always the potential of going to a higher court until a case is brought before the United States Supreme Court. So, there is a very real possibility that the Big 10 and the Big 12 will be waiting a long time before obtaining any ACC schools. A lot of things can change between now and the closure of these court cases.

If Fox wants ND in the B1G, it will have to take Stanford and Call, too.

Check out the Noles Board meeting regarding future AAU research and Infrastructure funding. Sounds like the compass is pointing to the B1G. Definitely to one of the P2. anyone that says FSU wouldn't add value and wouldn't be wanted doesn't have a clue. Go Noles! 🍢

Give us 20 teams and split into a West and East Division. 9 game schedule for each division of 10. Simple easy done. Easiest if we stay boring and rip the ACC cord from Stanford and Cal, still easier if we take on Oregon State and Washington State. Are these the best schools, no. However, it feels like the most stable solution.

    • @bladeneo7420
      @bladeneo7420 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Why that would cause a whole host of problems. U would not have a clear winner in each division on a 9 game conference schedule with 10 teams per division. That means you wouldn't play one school every year in the same division. That makes no sense in division format. The only way you can do that is if you play 11 game conference schedule one cross division game play every one in your division and have one non-conference game

Here we go again. It’s the namesake of the legacy and history of the BIG conference. I just don’t understand why people can’t make that connection. The BIG Conference is one of the oldest and greatest conferences in all of college football. The last time there were 10 teams in the BIG was 34 years ago. Get over it.
