Bernard Cavazos is not the author of this song. He himself has said it is not his song and that his song "King's Fall" was different. Please stop mentioning Bernard Cavazos. Pathfinder has also been ruled out by Rek Anthony himself.
Nothing major but I am looking into 2 Pittsburgh PA garage bands. Sceptre and Reign. Sceptre has an abandoned demo allegedly called "Dungeon Master" or "Master of the Dungeon". Reign allegedly had a song either called "The king shall fall" or "Tonight the king falls". But asides from word of mouth the only proof my team found of these bands existence is a document both bands tried to sue each other in June 1987.
@@CharlesMarkward okay, very peculiar theory, but what if those two bands are behind The Fall of the King? In the story in the description, there were two tapes that this song was recorded onto; one in Chicago, and one in Cleveland. This upload is the Cleveland recording. I have never heard the Chicago recording yet. So what if the Chicago tape is a cover/remake of the Cleveland one, or vice versa? One of the band members of (let’s say for example) Sceptre heard their song being covered by Reign without their permission on the radio (vice versa could have also happened). That might be the reason that they sued each other. A short summary for who have been perplexed by my writing: The Cleveland tape is a cover and the Chicago tape is the original song (or vice versa). One of the two bands made this song, and the second of the two bands decided to cover this, which led to the first band suing the second band. Hope this helps in some way!
A lot hinges on if these bands actually had anything to do with this song. But your theory is pretty much on par with what my team is thinking. I stated it's not too unreasonable a Pittsburgh band would have music played in Cleveland since the 2 cities are only a few hours apart. But until I find something that connects either band to THIS song all I have are plausible theories. As for the court document, one band was seeking action against the other for stealing their music/songs and the other band was seeking legal action because they stole their looks/gimmick. But it doesn't say who is who, like is Reign saying Sceptre stole their music or is Sceptre claiming Reign stole their act etc.
Imagine being the lead guitarist, spending months upon months perfecting that solo, only for people to not even know what your band is or even the name of the song
My 2 oldest sisters (born in 1970 and 1972) actually remember this song being played by garage bands and local talents in the Coatesville PA area. However, they both swear on mom and dads ashes that the first time they heard this song, a local music festival in Exton PA, I was NOT born yet (I was born in 1984). Even back then nobody could say who it was or what the title was. In fact the one band from Downingtown PA used to refer to it as "The Dungeons and Dragons song". And by that i mean, according to my sisters the lead singers girlfriend (or his sister....they could never tell?) would be in the crowd and when they were ready to end their performance she would shout "Play the Dungeons and Dragons song". My sisters also remember the adults thinking this song was somehow a promotional thing for the PA Renaissance Fair. Unfortunately they cannot offer any clues to the identity of this band or songs title, their guess, back then and still today, was Manowar.
@@lostwavefinder587 I have seen that name tossed around a lot on forums and random chats (this being one of them). Most people way smarter and better with this music than myself seem to have the opinion that it is not Z'Rose. They range in reason from: the equipment sound professional and they were not, the dates don't add up, Z'Rose only did covers so even it is them in the recordings it's still not their song.....one individual (a supervisor at work who lived in Texas during this time frame) actually said "Z'Rose wouldn't have been sober enough to finish that song". I have only heard 1 Z'Rose recording, and unfortunately the person who recorded it (I think the date says 1989?) spends the majority of the 5 minute video talking during the performance so all i hear is them and not the singer. I have to emphasize about %99 of this info i'm presenting is NOT from me but people who know this genre of music way better than me....i'm more Symphonic metal and neo folk (Corvus Corax, Heilung, Faun etc.
@@CharlesMarkward probably this tape recording was an attempt from them to make something of their own, many bands have started this way, an example is the Brazilian power metal band Angra, they were first meant to be an Iron Maiden tribute but as things went by, they have decided to release things of their own...I couldn't find anything about this "Z'Rose" band in metal-archives, neither at Google with a simple research, but the data gathered until this moment make sense: the Z Rock radio is from Texas, the so called "Z'Rose" band is also from Texas, it was the 80's, so, without internet, this was the way bands used to promote their work...but your story adds some drifts from this sensible data available until now...they are/were from Texas, ok...but until then, they weren't any big group, which means they were probably 9 to 5 salarymen whose musician activity was on weekends and the money earned wasn't enough to keep up with, so, a trip from TX to PA is a long ranged one and expensive for their then standards, I can remember when I've read the Mick Wall's Metallica biography, in which they highlight how hard was for them to go all the way from CA to NY to record Kill em' All, well, unless someone sponsored the so called "Z'Rose from Texas" (like the Zazula couple to Metallica) to play in the events you've mentioned in PA...which means they were good and had potential (this "mysterious recording" doesn't let me lie), because it takes a lot for someone at the other eastern extreme of a big country like the USA to call someone all the way from TX to play in an event when probably there were good bands around and without the need of a sponsorship to travel and get some place to sleep and eat...
@@aSome1 There's some confusion, my sisters never said Z'Rose was playing the song in our hometown area. Local teenage to early college yrs bands were playing it. They recognized this song when I was on a family Zoom chat, i had this song on in the background (by accident actually lol) and my oldest sister (#1 born in '70) asked what i was listening to. I turned it up and she shook her head and asked the other sister (#2 born in '72) "Oh my gosh isn't that that stupid Manowar song Erik and his brother used to play all the time?". Erik was the name of her high school boyfriend. They remember hearing it first at an amateur music fest when my brother (born in '82) was still a baby. Mainly they remember mom fitting all of them in her old "Batmobile" station wagon. By the time i was born in '84 that station wagon was gone for at least several months. The band names they specifically remember playing this, and keep in mind these were "Garage bands" from the 80's were: Venomous Vomit, Razors in your Coffee (Erik's band), Ash to Ash, Cauldron Kings, Coven of Metal, Pridesville, South of Hell and Purgatory. They said there were a few more, but didn't remember....or care....to know their names. (Disclaimer: Several peoples associated with those mentioned bands have been contacted by me and several have replied.....the most common reply is "How the hell do you know us!?" lol) Also, i am not the one saying it's not them. People much better with much more access to metal archives/records are saying it's not them. BUT, everything you said makes perfect sense to me and I have no argument against any of it. It would make perfect sense if it was a possible pitch demo Z'Rose recorded and kept along for a few years before a station played it. My sisters are %98 certain it was a Manowar song, the only other band they mentioned as a possibility is a Greek band i can't find anything about called something like Sarassa??
@@CharlesMarkward Dude, it's not Manowar lol. You keep saying that. Manowar isn't some obscure band like you & your sister think. They're pretty much mainstream. If it were Manowar, the search for the artist would've taken minutes. It's been years of hundreds of people searching & inquiring into the band's identity. You just popped up like yesterday saying "my sister said it's Manowar" lol
Ok. I don't know if this will help anyone or not. But I'm a guitar player so I pick up on small things like this. The guitar part seems to have been recorded with a Rockman amplifier. It was a small compact amp meant for headphones or plugging directly into the soundboard. It had a very distinct sound that sounds like nothing else. You can hear it on songs like Hall Of The Mountain King by Savatage, Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins, as well as the Afterburner album by ZZtop. Some people would run an equalizer through it to beef it up. Now WHY is this important? The Rockman that has this sound was invented in 1982 and was produced until the early 90s. Which means Fall Of The King could only have been made no earlier than 1982. The reason this helps, is if you find an 80s metal band that had this strange guitar tone in their other songs, you might be on the right track
As far as i know, nobody used those amps. It sounds like Rockman distortion, from the headphones. The guitar sound, on Slayer South of Heaven, sounds like rockman distortion. Guessing they are not using, Rockman. They just use effects, probably on Marshalls.
@@lostwavefinder587 I'd assume this was recorded sometime around 1984-1987 and you have NO idea how many metal bands sprang up, recorded a demo or two, and collapsed when said demo got rejected by every label they sent it to. There are thousands of songs just like this that have been completely forgotten, this one was just lucky enough to have been found on a tape of a 30-year-old radio show in someone's attic. I'm willing to bet if somebody sifted through every record label's physical archive (assuming they don't regularly throw out the old demos) they'd eventually find the original recording of this.
So here's a potential lead for everyone: I was just playing this song for a friend who is obsessed with all metal music. She asked me "Where did you get that Talon song?" Talon was/is a German heavy metal band from the early 80's that released several demos and full on albums between '83-'89. Almost all of there songs were medieval themed, especially their 2 demos. Herr's the thing, they supposedly have 3 unnamed tracks from both demos, one allegedly called "King Slayer". I listened to a bunch of there songs and I have to say there are several songs where the singer sounds exactly like our mystery singer, but then the next song they sound nothing alike. There was one song called something like "Execution" that the opening guitar sounds like this songs opening only slower? I'm not saying it is Talon, but it is possibly something to look into or at least consider?
@@Thomas-ry8xqI am looking into it.......and by that I mean I'm listening to as many of their songs as I can to compare and pestering people way better with this music than myself lol. Several songs have parts, singing or music, that sound very similar to this, but there just snippets of similarities. I haven't found one that I can safely say "SOLVED, IT'S THEM!".
I *highly, highly, HIGHLY* doubt it will end up being a non-American band, the singer might be British or German but I am 100% certain the band themself is American
@@lostwavefinder587Not saying it is or isn't a European/NON USA band. I was just letting people know of a possible lead and seeing if anyone else knew Talon and could chime in Yay or Nay.

@@lostwavefinder587 Think of the Rhys D record... if Rhys had never came across it, we would've likely never have known the existence of "The Days Of Wine And Roses," "Hold Back The Night," "I Don't Mind Going Out," and "Sad Songs Go Straight To The Heart..." I suppose there isn't much use to be had moping around about these kinds of situations, though, and we should at least appreciate that we had gotten to see these instead.
So New Years Eve i did my thing at the bar with my own little "booth" i mentioned. Once again the majority of people thought it was ME self promoting lol. After "me" people thought it was the usual: Manowar, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Overkill. One person thought it was a band called "TSA" from Poland. I am actually old enough to remember TSA but i never heard them sing in English. The guy then showed me a video of their singer Marek Piekarczyk doing an interview in English from '87. His speaking voice, did sound very similar to our mystery singers singing voice, but I didn't think it was as dead on as he thought. TSA apparently does have a lost demo of 4 songs, all sword and sorcery related, but I cannot find anything about it except it was supposedly recorded between '78 and '80? Another person and his wife thought it could be a band called "Sauron" based on it's medieval fantasy vibes. Another couple suggested "Black Knight" for the same reasons. And then i encountered "Eviscerator" lady. WOW did she make an entrance!! (seriously, i looked for a camera crew to see if they were filming some sort of gothic horror or Satanic occult independent film with the entrance she made!!) lol This is everything she remembers about seeing Eviscerator: She saw them perform twice, once in '85 and again in '88. Both times they performed in what used to be a shoe factory (specifically the factory made boots for police and firemen) just outside of London's city limits. Both times they performed, the venue was so amateur that each band had to use each others equipment. So after each performance each band just left the equipment on stage for the next one to use. Eviscerator had 3 guitarists and the one guitarist seemed to be the "leader" instead of the vocalist. When that guitarist introduced each member, they all had the name Eviscerator before their stage name, so it was "Eviscerator Johny", "Eviscerator Matt" etc. The only name she remembers is the Leopold LeStat she mentioned before. I asked why and she stated his was the only name that didn't sound like something ripped off of Lord of the Rings or Dungeons and Dragons. She also remembers that when all the band members said their names, Leopold and another guitarist sounded like they had New York accents. This song was allegedly followed by another song describing "The evil one's" reign but the only lyrics she remembers from it is the chorus of "The evil ones reign has begun, across the sky rides the dragon", and "All the power, all the hate, the wicked one has sealed your fate". Once again she stated that Eviscerator claimed they wrote this song for the movie Heavy Metal, but she herself felt that was just a claim for attention. I found her account to be interesting....not saying it is completely true and accurate, but i don't think it was something she cooked up to play me. I believe she did in fact see a group who went by "Eviscerator" perform, I believe they may have played this song as well as the sequel she described and all the Nazareth and Lucifer's Friend (does anyone but me know that band? lol) covers she mentioned they did. My gut tells me Eviscerator may have been just another amateur band who used threw this song with their covers to get people interested. Are they the makers of this song and did they write it for Heavy Metal.....I can't say Yes or No? I will lean towards No, especially since she herself felt like they were just saying that for attention but I will not put a bet on either.
@@SLON-sh2jgI am %99.999 sure it is NOT TSA. Asides their singers English talking voice sounding similar to this songs singing voice there just isn't anything for me to think of them as a serious contender. Yes they supposedly have a lost demo, but that seems to be a recurring theme. As for a band playing like this is 1978, I think the bands Angelwitch and Witchfynde came out in '78. Not quite as fast or intense as this song but within the same boat. I do agree with you that TSA sounds like Rainbow lol
As a Polish guy, this is definitely not TSA, due to following reasons. 1. Marek Piekarczyk's singing voice is completely different from what we hear here 2. They did not write primarily in English. Their only releases in English, Spunk EP and Heavy Metal World LP were re-recorded versions of the songs already released in Polish, and none of the songs on these releases sounded like this. 3. This does not sound like TSA's style at all. This song sounds more Iron Maiden-ish, meanwhile TSA was always closer to AC/DC imo. 4. Even if we ignore the previous points, I don't think there would be any chance for a song from beyond the iron curtain to be played in a Texan radio station.
@@Gregorio_Amareno Dzien Dobry Pan. I don't know what happened but I made a post ruling out TSA several weeks ago? It was basically EVERYTHING you touched on, except I didn't take into consideration the Iron Curtain part. I agree that TSA sounds NOTHING like this song, unless you know anything about their alleged missing demo? I have also stated many times this song, to me, sounds like Bruce Dickinson.
I think it might be safe to say.......where ever this band, or studio project came from, it was from some remote place, in the middle of nowhere, where there was no kind of metal scene, and no demo tapes sold. they probably sent it to the radio station, and it was not hand delivered. They probably sent out a couple tapes, and then the band was traveling in a car, and drove of a cliff, and all died.
Probably just a very small local band. There are many cases just like this. This track however has high quality production and mixing, and that guitar solo-- 🤌🤌
I was contacted last night by one of my former professors (name withheld) from Immaculata University. She was going through old student research papers and found a students paper from 2014 that references this song! The student paper was "Lost Music: The unspoken sibling of Lost Films". The part about this song reads: "Or the infamous "Fall of a King", played in the south Jersey and Philadelphia area before finding its way to Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Atlanta, Huston, Dallas then finally Chicago in the mid 1980's. Itself Manowar or Iron Maiden like sound entranced listeners and broke radio station phone lines with people scrambling to get the answers "Who was that, and what is that name". That included in the students intro, i did not read the whole paper, I'm not even sure of she sent the whole thing or just that intro? My former professor thought of me because she remembered i was the ONLY student she had who wrote about Lost Films.
My former professor got in contact with the student who wrote this paper. She does NOT want her info given to me, but she did say she was ok with my former professor sending me the whole paper. She is also ok with corresponding through said former professor if I have any questions about her sources. The whole 39pg paper will be emailed to me sometime this week. Now the whole paper is NOT about this song, but this song under the name "Fall of a King" is included. Other songs included in the paper are "Like the wind", "Downtime in London", "Crisp breeze", "Unlock my heart" and "My frozen lips"......asides from "Like the wind" I have never heard of these other ones.

I remember three years ago listening to Liquid Metal on SiriusXM when they played this song and discussed it a bit. They were as stumped as everyone else and those guys are pretty knowledgeable when it comes to metal.
I don't know why the dude wouldn't come forward at this point. There's clearly some passionate people interested in his music. For most musicians, fame and interest is a good thing.
Well, Christopher Saint Booth of Everyone Knows That/Ulterior Motives fame said he had no idea until his son told him one day “Hey dad, you’re Internet famous.”
You know, you may not be far off. It’s probably very likely this mystery has been solved, but the original artist is denying it on purpose as a troll move just to keep the mystery alive.
In my last comments i mentioned a bar i went to was going to have a mini concert featuring bands that specialize in black metal and 80's tribute metal and i would play this song to see if any of the band peoples or concert goers would chime in. I did just that and got a few hits on the radar with a few of the band members. The one band, Inviaat, the singer says he remembers this song being played on a radio station in Philly PA for an entire summer because that station was trying to find the band. He does not remember the specific station but said it was near the Taylor University campus (my understanding is that there is several?) because the station thought it was the students from that university's music program. When i asked him when exactly that would have been he said Summer of 1983 because he was married on Halloween 1983 and was hoping the station would find the band so they could play at his wedding. A member from the local band "inductus Mortis" said he recalls that song being played "somewhere in the mid 80's" but does not remember if he heard it in Chicago or Cleveland because he bounced between them. I asked several bands, include the Venom tribute band Poisonous Whisper if anyone had ever heard of a band name Eviscerator from the 80's. Only one person thought he heard the name but it wasn't a band name it was a compilation album of NWOBHM from roughly '83-'84, but couldn't tell me anything other than that. As for the other concert goers, the #1 response i got from them was along the lines of "Dude you can sing, you should go pro!".....in other words they thought it was me promoting myself (I wish i could sing like that!!). the #2 response was people thought it was Manowar. After those 2 the guesses were the usual ones i have seen here and everywhere else this topic comes up: Blackmaine, Axis, Overkill, Overdrive, Black Sabath, Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Slayer, WitchAxe and 2 people even asked if it was an Ozzy Osbourne demo.
@@laserbae97 There is an Overkill song that I mentioned on here a while back that the beat is almost dead on with a slightly slower version of this songs beat.

Bobby Blitz and Bobby Gustafson from Overkill might know who this is, because that's Gustafsons exact guitar tone. This band is definitely from New Jersey.
The thing is, whoever this is will have more songs. Nobody would write one song, never perform it, record it, without writing others as well. Especially with this type of production. Even the metal exploitation "bands" like piledriver and exorcist had entire records(exorcist-nightmare theater, piledriver-stay ugly/metal inquisition). I almost guarantee whoever this artist is they at least have an ep or demo, something more than just this one song.
Holy crap for some reason my last post got cut in half and didn't include the following info, sorry! So the individual i spoke to and got the new possible lead is the former singer of the one band my sisters mentioned, Purgatory, (i do NOT have his permission to use his real name but his stage name was Tarantula). He confirmed he played this song "once or twice" but didn't know the lyrics so they just repeated several "blocks" over and over again. He heard it from a band in NJ and when he asked if he could use the song they replied along the lines of "It's not our song, we don't care" but gave no indication who it was or they even knew who it was? He suggested the band "Knightmare" because they were from Texas and he remembers all of their songs being medieval or medieval fantasy related. Supposedly they wore what looked like full on plate armor (he does not know if it was actual metal armor or something made to look like it). He saw them perform a handful of times because he spent summers in Texas on his grandfathers (mistakenly said uncle in my last post, sorry) ranch and would sneak off at night to "the metal scene" (i do not know if that was a club name or if he just meant that in general?). He began visiting his grandfathers ranch in 1980 and stopped when his grandfather retired in 1992. He gave an estimated timeline for "Knightmare" of 1981-1989. Interestingly, my supervisor at work lived in Texas during this timeline (roughly mid 70's to mid 90's from what i can gather?) and when I asked him about Knightmare he had no idea. But when i mentioned they dressed up like knights in armor he suddenly looked startled and said "That wasn't their name, their name was Battle Battalion or some s*** like that".
Where did someone find the full version???? This is my first time hearing it and not the chopped radio version that Ian Christe had uploaded. Definitely feels like this was taken from an orginal demo tape.

To be honest. That song got me into diving deeper into metal music. Id love to find out who is behind this masterpiece. Like, the riff, the solo, the voice of the frontman, the whole composition. Its incredible. It sounds just like some of Iron Maiden old stuff, but the vocalist is different, he doesn't sound like Bruce at all. Id do anything for knowing who made this.
There is a clip of Bruce Dickinson covering Tom Jones "Delilah" on a game show or talk show from the mid 80's. In that specific video myself and a lot of other people's think Bruce sounds like this singer. Some people say it's a %100 match. I say it is EXTREMELY close, but I can't give a definitive. I am NOT saying this song isBruce Dickinson or Iron Maiden, only stating that they sound very close.
Hell yes, when I first heard it I thought. Sounds unbelievably similar to Overkill's Bobby Blitz especially in the era of Overkill's first album "Feel the Fire" from 1985. I even thought it might actually be Blitz. But someone contacted "Bobby Gustafson" the former guitarist of the band since 1981 - 1990 and he assured that this song is NOT from Overkill.
@@benhard8832 could Bobby have been involved in other work at the time? I'd ask him to confirm yes or no that it's him singing. An unreleased track from Overkill's earliest lineup with Rob Pisarek, perhaps. Maybe a Bobby Blitz collab with Savatage I dunno...........so many theories.
I was contacted by "1983 guy" late last night. Here is what he remembers: he worked at a Keebler warehouse in Ben Salem PA, most of the times he heard this song was from a coworkers personal radio in the break room. He believes it was a Temple University station because of a jingle that would play "All of Philadelphia and all of you, this is Temple U" (he remembers the person doing the jingle sounded like James Earl Jones 😂) From what he remembers the radio hosts/dj's on that station or possibly another were offering a $100 reward to anyone who could identify it. He does not recall ever hearing people call the station on air guessing who it was, but he does remember the hosts saying it's not Judas Priest, Cirith Ungol, DragonSlayer or Iron Maiden. He did recall several hosts conversations asking if it was the students of Taylor University because they had all sorts of music related courses and would allow students to record on campus in semi professional studios. He was really hoping someone would crack this because he wanted to ask this band if they would play at his wedding, Halloween 1983 (his wife's maiden name was King and where they grew up "fall of a king" was a innuendo for.....you get it lol). His wife remembers hearing this song "maybe a handful of times" at the employee gym she would work out at (a VA hospital) but she does not recall if it was on the air or someone's personal radio. His guess, like numerous others, it's an abandoned Manowar piece. Manowar or the band "Heavy Load" because they were the only band he knew at that time with a sound as close to this (the beat does sound similar to "Angels in Leather" by Heavy Load). I think the Keebler factory he referenced is the old Nabisco factory (now I think it's a mall?)? I actually do remember a similar radio jingle on many Philly stations like "All of us and all of you, this is Temple U", but I'm fairly certain it was an advertisement for Temple not a station? I asked my sisters about Taylor University having a music program, yes they did and yes they would record demos from students as a Production lesson, however they do not know if they ever released the demos recorded there. As a long shot I asked him about the band that mystery lady told me about, "Eviscerator". He remembers the name, but he thought that was a stage name for a singer not a band or album. When I asked if he remembered what band he replied "I never knew, I just heard the name now and then".
One thing that I feel added to his credibility, I asked what percent he is certain it was THIS song and he said "high 80's, low 90's range". That's way better than the usual "I'm 100% and how dare you question me!" I usually get.
I don't think that's what he was implying, only the station was either Temple University's or another station that advertised for Temple (based on the jingle). I do not know if Temple had their own station in '83, so my guess is that it was just a genral Philly station that advertised for Temple........but since I am NOT familiar with Temple or it's history I can't give a Yay or Nay.
1983 guy just texted me as I was driving to work. Last night I asked him if he ever heard anyone say this song was possibly a promo for the PA Renaissance Faire, he gave a very clear NO, he never heard of that. So a few days ago I got in contact with someone who claimed to have had a tape with this song on it. He claimed it was one of those "found in a room during a renovation" deals. He also stated there were 4 other songs on the tape that sounded like this band. So I met him, I listened.....and although there were 5 songs something seemed off to me. Well my instincts and hesitancy to write about it paid off. The guy created it with an AI program!! My biggest issue, the one songs voice sounded very close to that "Song of Alice/Under the stars" original singer. So I almost got scammed, and almost made a ENORMOUS fool of myself to all of us. Too close!

I understand some bands may not exist anymore, but for the ones who are still around has anyone made contact with them? Also, has anyone listened to Overdrive's 1982 song "On the run", the opening guitar sounds identical to the opening guitar of this song just slightly slower. At least to me it does. Also, has anyone heard of a band called "Knightmare" from Texas roughly 1981-1989'ish? That name popped up when i was corresponding with a member of the one "garage band" my sisters mentioned. I did a quick search for Knightmare a few weeks ago and I got all excited i saw one band dressed up like monks or Druids, but that band only came out in 2017. I think it's safe to say the name has been used by many bands. Does the name "Battle Battalion" show up on any Metal "pedia" sites? That's what my supervisor claims this "dressed up in medieval armor" bands name was?
@@CharlesMarkwardI saw some bands with Battalion on the metal encyclopedia and discogs and none of them are our band. I don’t think we should go based on what a band wears as our lead.
'On The Run' actually has a similar melody to this mystery song, have you considered that perhaps it Overkill and they just got a new lead vocalist and this mystery song was recorded with their original lead singer? cause 'On The Run' has vibes of this mystery song. i'm sorry if i sound far fetched but i just had that thought and wanted to share it.
Might be a band called Z-Rose. I'm not quite sure on instrument sound, but the vocalist is pretty damn close to this. As close as Alvin Dean and Like The Wind.
A lot of people think it's them unfortunately they fell off the face of the earth (Alvin Dean style apparently) and we can't find any of the members to contact and confirm if this piece is theirs
2024 is Definitely The LostMedia and LostWave Year. We may soon find this absolute Banger Along With Like The Wind And Stop Making Me Cry And La Cancion De Alicia
The singer was definitely influenced by Dickinson in tone, cadence, and theme. Rhythm guitar was standard metal riffing but the solo sounded British, much unlike the shredding that was popular in the US at that time. EKT was found so I have hope for this one.
I've said many times that I personally feel this vocalist sounds extremely close to Bruce Dickinson. There is a clip of Bruce singing Tom Jones' "Delilah" on either a talk or game show, and his opening of that song is nearly identical to this Fall of the King vocals! Tone, tempo, cadence, pitch......it's really really on spot. I am NOT saying it is Bruce, I'm just saying whoever it is does a good job singing like him.
i absolutely freaking adore this damn song "the king has fallen, SEE HIM DIE!!!!!!!!" it is like a blend of absurd goofy and awesome and i love it somuch im glad this exists goodbye
Now this is seriosuly fasciniating! A really cool song. It has the vibes of the less-than popular bands of the NWoBHM like Holocaust, Dark Star, and Hollow Ground. I wish I knew where this was from. I'm sorry I can't help.
This song was actually played on an old Philly/NJ station on the segment "Della names your tune" in 2009. I was able to get in contact with "Della" (real name withheld by her request) who at first stated "I played thousands of unnamed songs bud, I probably played this one 100 times, sorry i wont be much help" . Then a few days later replied "I do recall this one, it was sent in from a local listener who had it labeled as Dungeon Master or maybe Dragon Master on a CD with a bunch of old early Manowar, JudaPriest, Iron Maiden, Megadead, Metallica and AngelWitch songs. He or she claimed their father had this song on a tape from his college days. Nobody knew what or who it was back in '09 or '10 and as far as I know nobody figured it out when I left the program in '15." Disclaimer: I know some of those bands are misspelled, I purposefully left it that way because that's how she sent it to me.
@@EducatedSquirrel I went down that road, you nailed it right on the head. There is no way to track down who that listener was. The only hint she had, in the form of the note attached to the CD was the person said they were from Radnor PA.
@@EducatedSquirrel I couldn't tell you because the other songs kind of bounce around in terms of year: there's a Judas Priest and an Angel Witch song both from 1980 but then there's a song from Megadeath (I believe Megadeath came out in '85?) and a Metallica song from '86?
I feel like this song needs to be found,i know this is in the power metal genre I’m not a huge power metal fan but this song is great,it does sound like Iron maiden and Judas Priest but we all know it’s not those bands,I think that if we look deeper into it and make sure to look carefully this song will be found! Hope it does get found as it is great!🤘
So a little bit ago i mentioned a band name "Knightmare" as a possibility for this song. Well the band was actually called "KnyghtBlyde" (Knight Blade) and i got in contact with the daughter of the vocalist last night. I played this song for her and after some confliction/hesitation she said it is NOT her dad. The biggest thing was all of her dads songs were based of Aruthurian lore and filled with references to Camelot, Arthur, Morgana, Lancelot, Excalibur etc. Since this song has none of that, its not them. She has no idea who this is.
Conquest or Conqueror? There were 3 bands with the name Conquest, one was a Metallica like band. Another was an early death metal band, growling vocals and all. And one was more like a funk/Fleetwood Mac like band. I mentioned Conqueror because they were from Texas, but they were actually pretty popular and had several tapes (their lead singer looked like Dolph Lundgren 😂)
I did a quick search "Conquest 80's metal band Texas" and found 3 results. Conquest from San Antonio, split in either '85 or '87. Conquest from Dallas, '86 - '90. Khan'quest (possibly same band as Khanquistador?), no location given but split up in '88 then reformed in 2000 then......nothing? I could not find anything about any of their songs or demos or releases or band members. But it's obvious I was thinking of the wrong Conquest bands 😂
I have actually been looking at this song for almost 3yrs. I've had some "good leads" and some "bad leads" and i've also had "WTF leads".......but at the end it is still unsolved. So far the biggest contenders, from people way better with this music than me (I'm more a symphonic or extreme metal person) have been: Manowar, Iron Maiden, OverDrive, Overkill, Onslaught of Destruction and Sonic Mahem. My sisters really believe it is possibly an unreleased or "pitch demo" of Manowar but they also said it might be a Greek band from the early 80's called Sarassa or something like that?
I have mentioned/asked several times so maybe you can help: Are Overdrive and Overkill the same band? Bunch of people say yes, a bunch of people say no, and a bunch more scratch their heads and ask "Who?"
@@CharlesMarkward I checked it out. Overkill(the well known one)from jersey and overdrive(the one from sweden)were two different bands around at roughly the same time.
@@justsomedudeyouknow8372 As weird as this may sound, thank you! Now hopefully i wont sound too much like an idiot to all the "metal heads" out there. I myself did not think this was Iron Maiden, bunch of people who know and live this branch of Metal say it. My branch of Metal is more Nightwish, Dark Sarah, Powerwolf, Rammstein, Behomoth etc.
@@CharlesMarkward I dont worry about what others think. The gate keeprs of metal are nerds. I personally never got into overkill. Wasn't my thing, even though i love most of the 80's glam/heavy metal/thrash/speed metal. I never got into the bands you mentioned. Also not my thing. But whatevs man. Enjoy what you enjoy.
As anyone ever found a song with a similar riff to the one in the intro of the song? Because I found one extremely similar in the song "Way Of The Hunter" by the band "Bloody Six". The vocalist of that band doesn´t sound similar, but maybe of one the band members might have later been involved in the making of "Fall of The King" in some other band. It is insanely similar, so I wonder if there is a connection (even if in the end that Rek Anthony guy happens to be the singer of "The Fall of the King").
have anybody here ever considered if it one of the many bands thrown out that it could possibly be one of them as one of their demos with a different singer before finding their current one which they stuck with? its a possibility you have to admit. and with this song, i'd say it comes from a tape of some kind and was restored or remixed to better quality cause at 2:00 to 2:04 the left channel fades out and in again which often happens on tapes.
This sounds a lot like the Norwegian band Artch. It’s not on either of their albums, but it might be a B-side or an unreleased track. Their singer Eirikur Hauksson (Eric Hawk) also sang in a couple of Icelandic bands before moving to Norway.
After finding a video on the missing song with just a 17 seconds sample “ulterior motives” aka “everyone knows that” I just been in a rabbit hole of other unknown songs that lead to dead ends it seems so far? (examples: like the wind, how long will it take, the grass is green, light the lanterns, ride this wave forever, dance for hours a day aka dance floor was his name , love just comes and goes, this one specific song from the channel kylie boggly in one of her Reddit mystery videos that sounds sorta like the smiths?) and NOW THIS ONE. All these songs are so good 😞 which makes these cases even more frustrating 💔
I was randomly recommended a video from a channel called "Heavy Metal Rarities," it was a song called Rider of the Night by Earthquake. I listened to it, and almost had a heart attack hearing the opening riff. That's just how dang similar it sounded to the opening riff here. Now this obviously not our band, and they are from Sweden as well. I'll give the link to it anyway, so anyone else who wants to hear it can do so. th-cam.com/video/rCeP2tBqj1Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0YryxwT44RtTyEJQ Also, it is evident that the lost song "Run For Your Life" has been solved. However, there appears to be no absolute evidence yet.
That does sound uncannily similar, however I do believe that this song is by an American band or at the very least Canadian due to the circumstances surrounding the recordings. Worth a shot though.
One of the names thrown about here and there on posts about this song is a Steven Linfield ("Lindi") who bounced between Chicago and NYC in the 1980's. His alleged involvement varries between being the DJ who allegedly played it on a NYC station, to being a Chicago stations record manager/clerk etc etc. I got in contact with him yesterday. He denies having ANYTHING to do with the airing of this song and does not know how or why his name came up. While he did work at 2 stations (NYC, then Chicago during the summer) he was an overnight watchman (security). However, he does recall this song being played on "some amateur hour crapshoot" in '86 in NYC a bunch of times. At that point in '86 he claims people were referencing it as "The King Song" or "The song of the King" (drawn out to match the singers "The Faaaalllll, the fall of the kiiiiiing") and it was already 2 or 3 years old at that time. He did explain that at least at the Chicago station there was an amateur drop-off slot that the dj's would pick through and play random "no namers" labeling them as "space filler". Because they would be played, literally just to fill space, they were NOT mandated to keep any records of them. Sometimes the dj's would just make up names to some of these. One of his main duties was to check the drop-off to make sure there were no bad things thrown in there instead of cassettes. Another dead end, but at least we rulled out one theory......silver lining??😂
Seems like they were a small band. The 80’s were filled with tons of bands that many have forgotten about. I know a few bands in the early 2000’s in the Bay Area that have not gotten big nor people in forums know about. These types of bands will forever be forgotten by time. It’s super sad especially with this song since it’s a great song. Maybe it was a one single that they made or didn’t distribute enough to be remembered.
@@Izeazzy I agree with EVERYTHING you said there lol. I can name a few garage bands, from my high school and college years that fits this description perfectly. Out of those I can only think of 1 that even made it far enough to record a 4 song demo, FrostFire (Nightwish/Dark Sarah wannabe). And most people in my area only knew FrostFire because they had a female drummer who was............keeping it G rated, let's say very appealing for her......talent lol
Have ya'll contacted the band Satan (UK)? I heard some songs from the album called "Court In The Act" and the singer and chugging sounds really similar.
2 very small updates gor everyone: 1) The Viking/Pagan/Goth/Black Metal themed bar just around the corner from me is having a New Years event tomorrow night. They actually agree to give me a "booth" where i can have a "guess this song" set up. And, it will be right next to where the bands play...I'm going to be between the "stage" and the food truck lol 2) The one radio station i submitted this song to will play it on their "X hour" on 1/8/24. It is not a hugely popular segment, maybe a few hundred listeners, but it's better than nothing. Here's to the New Year and hope this song and numerous others get solved!
There's a band called matrixx that has been giving me interest. They were only around for two years due to financial struggles in their stage. If you look up attaxe and fiinal notice they share two members of matrixx. Their drummer and guitarist sound very similar to the band from this song. It's pretty crazy too because they have a song called defy the king. They also had a label to produce their songs which is called Suma Recording Studios. This may be the reason why the audio sounds too good for a small band. I hope that this is the band! Too many good clues that I found
@@EducatedSquirrel I was going into a deep conversation with my neighbor last night. He's(maybe 50) from the Pittsburgh Area and listened to a ton of metal bands from the North and East coast. He recommended a few bands and I got some similarities. I live in the Bay Area so the scenes from there to here are totally different. The Bay Area back in the 80's was mostly thrash groups and this is for sure power/speed metal which is mostly Ohio and Illinois I started doing more research on groups from that part of the country and came across Matrixx. It was hours of research that took me and finally decided that it may be Matrixx. Also, I did find one more band that a member was a part of, and made me 90% confident that it has to be Matrixx. They don't have much info but the members have joined other bands which leads to more discoveries.

Now we know that it isn't Bernard Cavazos, who's the next lead?
@@sethjedidiah3903 there are no actual leads right now for this song unfortunately.

Unfortunately they cannot offer any clues to the identity of this band or songs title, their guess, back then and still today, was Manowar.
our biggest lead currently is a band called Z'Rose from Texas
(Disclaimer: Several peoples associated with those mentioned bands have been contacted by me and several have replied.....the most common reply is "How the hell do you know us!?" lol)
Also, i am not the one saying it's not them.

You just popped up like yesterday saying "my sister said it's Manowar" lol
Celebrity Number 6 and TMMS have been found. Now it's time for the metal community's work
This is very helpful information, thank you!
As far as i know, nobody used those amps. It sounds like Rockman distortion, from the headphones. The guitar sound, on Slayer South of Heaven, sounds like rockman distortion. Guessing they are not using, Rockman. They just use effects, probably on Marshalls.
the audio quality is too low to know for sure.

Out of all the lost songs, this is the one I want to be found the most. I love it.
this one I can't believe hasn't been found yet
@@lostwavefinder587 I'd assume this was recorded sometime around 1984-1987 and you have NO idea how many metal bands sprang up, recorded a demo or two, and collapsed when said demo got rejected by every label they sent it to. There are thousands of songs just like this that have been completely forgotten, this one was just lucky enough to have been found on a tape of a 30-year-old radio show in someone's attic. I'm willing to bet if somebody sifted through every record label's physical archive (assuming they don't regularly throw out the old demos) they'd eventually find the original recording of this.
I've listened to it tons of times. Total quintessential metal song!
This should be the new popular "everyone knows that" song, shocked it hasn't been found yet.
Correction, the song I think sounds familiar in the opening is called "Neutralized" not "Executioner"
Sounds like a great lead. I hope it gets looked into.

These songs were all unknown once, but they've since been solved
I will lean towards No, especially since she herself felt like they were just saying that for attention but I will not put a bet on either.
early TSA is basically Rainbow-alike stuff LMAO
not to mention, if any band can played this in 1978, I'd like to see it
@@SLON-sh2jgI am %99.999 sure it is NOT TSA.
1. Marek Piekarczyk's singing voice is completely different from what we hear here
I don't know how such a banger song fades into such obscurity like this, this fuckin ROCKS
no, it METALS

Sounds a lot like Overkill tbh but I know it isn't.

"wait dude, did we write our names on the cassette?"

There was a Knightmare from houston tx that had 3 demos.
This sounds so cool I really hope this is all true

There is a clip of Bruce Dickinson covering Tom Jones "Delilah" on a game show or talk show from the mid 80's. Man that singer sounds like Blitz from Overkill! His pronunciation of “Fire” is so close it has to be him.
This is METAL! I hope this gets solved soon
Thanks brooo so it was supposedly a temple uni band
I don't think that's what he was implying, only the station was either Temple University's or another station that advertised for Temple (based on the jingle). I do not know if Temple had their own station in '83, so my guess is that it was just a genral Philly station that advertised for Temple........but since I am NOT familiar with Temple or it's history I can't give a Yay or Nay.

The former member had an uncle who had a ranch in Texas he would spend Summer vacation at and remembers "Knightmare". He does not know if this song is them or not, but he remembers the guys dressed up in what looked like plate armor and all their songs were medieval/sword and sorcery fantasy themed.

Right now the best lead is Conquest - War for the King, a demo tape from an unspecified year, band is from Texas so the region and title checks out.
Conquest was ruled out. Someone who owns the tape was contacted and told us this isn't them.
Definitely not iron maiden or overkill.
Exciters Heavy Metal Maniac has a slightly similar opening riff, but it's a huge stretch.
Can't be the same band. This one has a more US Metal sound than that of Switzerland's Bloody six
have anybody here ever considered if it one of the many bands thrown out that it could possibly be one of them as one of their demos with a different singer before finding their current one which they stuck with? its a possibility you have to admit. and with this song, i'd say it comes from a tape of some kind and was restored or remixed to better quality cause at 2:00 to 2:04 the left channel fades out and in again which often happens on tapes.
This sounds like something my dad would listen to, he really likes metal
ask him
@@Blunderjam55I did, but he didn't know :(
This sounds a lot like the Norwegian band Artch. It’s not on either of their albums, but it might be a B-side or an unreleased track.
Their singer Eirikur Hauksson (Eric Hawk) also sang in a couple of Icelandic bands before moving to Norway.
I am wondering if adjusting the head on the deck used for playing back the tape could restore some of the treble, it often helped back in the days.
You'd have to ask Sled 1025, the OP with the tape this particular recording came from
man this song is so good
Remind me of early power metal like Helloween hope the artist is found some day
After finding a video on the missing song with just a 17 seconds sample “ulterior motives” aka “everyone knows that” I just been in a rabbit hole of other unknown songs that lead to dead ends it seems so far? (examples: like the wind, how long will it take, the grass is green, light the lanterns, ride this wave forever, dance for hours a day aka dance floor was his name , love just comes and goes, this one specific song from the channel kylie boggly in one of her Reddit mystery videos that sounds sorta like the smiths?) and NOW THIS ONE.
All these songs are so good 😞 which makes these cases even more frustrating 💔
How Long Will It Take has been solved
@@lostwavefinder587 Just saw!! Barely opened this app and I immediately got the original author of the song video on my recommendation!! :D
So were Ride This Wave Forever (Wavestation) and Dance for Hours a Day (Royal Treatment Plant - Funky).
Johnny/The Grass is Green was also solved. Piero Cotto - Johnny in the Middle of the Park
Sounds like Bobby Blitz / Overkill
definitely NJ/NY/New England, possibly even Connecticut tough guy vocals
I was randomly recommended a video from a channel called "Heavy Metal Rarities," it was a song called Rider of the Night by Earthquake. I listened to it, and almost had a heart attack hearing the opening riff. That's just how dang similar it sounded to the opening riff here.
Now this obviously not our band, and they are from Sweden as well. I'll give the link to it anyway, so anyone else who wants to hear it can do so.

Also, it is evident that the lost song "Run For Your Life" has been solved. However, there appears to be no absolute evidence yet.
That does sound uncannily similar, however I do believe that this song is by an American band or at the very least Canadian due to the circumstances surrounding the recordings. Worth a shot though.
It reminds a little of Helstar (which has a song named The King is Dead, oddly enough), but i dont think so.
I like how people basically figured out when where and what radio station this was on ( I think) but don’t know the band or anything
The people from the radio station don't know either!
The real king..... never Falls
LINDFIELD, not Linfield. Darn autocorrect on this phone.
I posted this on another forum and one listener suggested it might be a Judas Priest tribute band.
Judas Priest is one of the "top 5" people say this either may be or sounds like.
Have ya'll contacted the band Satan (UK)? I heard some songs from the album called "Court In The Act" and the singer and chugging sounds really similar.
2 very small updates gor everyone:
1) The Viking/Pagan/Goth/Black Metal themed bar just around the corner from me is having a New Years event tomorrow night. They actually agree to give me a "booth" where i can have a "guess this song" set up. And, it will be right next to where the bands play...I'm going to be between the "stage" and the food truck lol
2) The one radio station i submitted this song to will play it on their "X hour" on 1/8/24. It is not a hugely popular segment, maybe a few hundred listeners, but it's better than nothing.
Here's to the New Year and hope this song and numerous others get solved!
For everyone, I hate small keys on my phone lol
@@CharlesMarkward legend. thank you for this!
Any news?
@@ant2manbee931 I made a new post about the New Years party.
Too many good clues that I found
only thing is that we don't have any audios from matrixx.
Where did you find tge info about it?@@Izeazzy
