    Great video! Love the LVC 501, got one pair in back 2000.
    Bought a while back a never worn new pair on ebay for a good price. Great wide fit , perfect placed pockets, super comfortable & they fade beautiful. Only thing you need on top of that is a levis 507 jacket.
    Love the engineer cap, where did you buy it?

      Thanks I couldn’t agree more. I just bought a dead stock pair to replace my too big pair. The cap I made myself. I’m going to be getting back into sewing and will probably be making a few for sale in the future.

    Great review of the jeans! If you ever buy a new pair of LVC's maybe make a video detailing the transformation over time of the jeans? I have a a pair of the 1955s and since they are a lot newer they look nothing like the pair you have! Good to know what it may look like in time comes. I always see youtubers show the pair but never the fade process over time. Maybe you could make some really content with it!

      Thanks. I do have a pair of 44's on there that I have an old pair and a new pair. I'm currently working on my Conners 37 pair and have about 6 months no wash on them. I'll have a video coming up showing the updates. Great idea!

    Just picked up this same model today but from 2008, only washed once, and they are my favorite jeans so far. Did you follow the instructions on tag in terms of washing them for a temperature 40 degrees and hang dry or tumble dry on low? I ask because I would like to have your fades years from now 😊 Thank you for making this video it helped ID them and inspire!

      Great pick up on the LVC's! I honestly just washed them when I washed them. Probably cold water, but I don't remember. Never dryer, always hand to dry though. I'm glad the video helped! Wear em' with pride!

      Thank you on the info! Great to know you just hang dry them as I’m in Europe and would have to go to a laundromat for that type of luxury 😢 can’t wait for the journey thank you again!

    Who would have thought there is so much to a pair of Levi jeans. Is there money in these old jeans.

    • @derekdoeschannel
      @derekdoeschannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Some people spend a lot of time and energy studying these old jeans. And yes, there is a lot of money in these old jeans. A pair from the 1880's just sold for $87,000.

      @@derekdoeschannel bloody hell $87,000 for pair of old jeans.

    Salvage is trash..selvage is a seam. A proper sewn garment has finished selvages to keep it from fraying. That is the first thing you learn in a sewing class in high school after you took all your grade school sewing classes

      When it comes to vintage jeans, selvage is king.

    I love the 1955 501s I have three of em 2 made in Japan and 1 made in the USA . The weird thing is my USA ones don’t have a V stitch on the top button . Do you have any idea why this may be ?

    • @derekdoeschannel
      @derekdoeschannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      3 pairs is great! Are you sure the US pair is LVC and not their Made line? No clue why they’d leave that off?

    those 44's fit u perfect. i have the cone 1966 soaked once but have stored them away as cone is hard to get. and a brand new 1947 japanese fabric which i have yet to soak which i am planning to do on a hot sunny day to get maximum shrink after i hang dry on a sunny day. Did you soak them 44 or are you wearing them raw.

    • @derekdoeschannel
      @derekdoeschannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, yes I think they do too. Nice on the 66 and 47s. I gave the 44s a one soak.

    Showing off the selvedge seam is the 'whole point' for tryers like yourself.

    Those are vintage fades. And prefer fades like this vs high contrast which looks manufactured.

      @derekdoeschannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks I have never gotten those crazy fades, but I don’t wear them tight and it think that’s how they get them like that.

    I had a pair of he 55s in the 90s. Only available with a 40 inch leg at that time They did not shrink as much as I anticipated. I didn’t like the boxy cut at the time but would love them now.

    • @derekdoeschannel
      @derekdoeschannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those late 90's LVC were fantastic! Especially with the 40 inch leg. You could get a very healthy roll on those. I know what you mean about the boxy cut, sometimes you want that and sometimes you don't.

    • @russellpotts3069
      @russellpotts3069 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes for sure. I think you were spot on when you said they fit more like trousers. I like to buy them loose now so they don’t restrict movement also so much more comfortable in the summer. It would be really great to do a video on sizing to get the right fit Back in the 80s it was a popular sub culture to wear oversized second hand US imports. I actually stumbled across a original 50s pair that were going for £40 compared to the £18 for second hand salvage.

    • @derekdoeschannel
      @derekdoeschannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@russellpotts3069 I'll see what I can come up with on sizing. It's so different though from person to person. Too bad you don't still have that 50's pair!
