We add pine / fir branches to the corners of the cages and it seems to make the quail so happy. They have a little space to hide in and "surrender" or when they get startled instead of running in circles around the cage and upsetting EVERYONE. Plus it makes it smell nicer and they like to eat the needles.

My aggressive quail was loud and proud about it even before full maturity. He recruited a side kick. We have an aviary setup of sorts and it was incredible to see how they teamed up and literally dominated half the space. No other quail dared to enter that section. We released them to the woods. Much happier environment now for the remaining 18.

If they were coturnix, releasing them into the wild was a death sentence in and of itself. They are not native to this land, and that causes other problems.

@@VeysPlacetechnically they are native but not like out n about as they used to be, been farmed up, but yes ur right, would be a death sentence atleast today, but honestly I kinda felt this, some the birds I be dealing with trying to introduce new ones are just too much of an ass hole, so I don’t even care

Only a few years with Coturnix quail, but I've found that feeding chicken layer feed stops the aggression - but it also stops the quail from laying. I have not tried this yet, but I plan to isolate the males from the flock part of each day - with layer feed, and the hens with high protein feed.

Any bird that physically injures another quail goes to freezer camp - male or female. Very little tolerance for that as I have lost several other birds to bad behaviors. Seems to be some breed tendencies as well.

Quail aggression is too common for me. I started with six quail five weeks ago and the cage I built is one foot high by 6 feet long and 2 feet deep with a center barrier with two openings, three water bottles get changed daily, one long tube feeder, three inverted Frisby's with mash/pellet mixture 22% protein quail/pheasant feed, and three dusting boxes with sides and roof (one side open). One hen was killed overnight. A few days later another hen had all the skin and feathers pecked off her head overnight. Then one hen's eyes were pecked out. I closed the mid-cage barrier to use half of the cage as an isolation ward. There are so many TH-cam videos on quail aggression that I think it's a universal problem with them. Maybe too much inbreeding? But I read aggression is a problem in almost all breeds of captive quail. If it weren't for so many neighborhood cats roaming around at night, I'd let the rest go free in my fenced-in back yard. So, the option I chose is to stop keeping quail. The aggression is not something I can tolerate in pets. I'll continue to ground feed four wild quail that visit my front yard every morning and night and I'll keep my six chickens that never fight. Sad . . . I really liked the idea of having quail.

I have 3 males (hatch and born up togeather) they are about 8 weeks Old now, and now one is starting to jump and panik and attack the to other ones. They have food and water all the time, get Greens and seeds as supliment. They have about 1,6 spuarefoot spuarefood. I want to keep Them for future color groups (one is Rosetta, one is sparkley and one is Rosetta sparkley pharao) im currently trying to disorientat Them, but im having a instinct thought that it May accor becaurse they live in one Rabbits cage devided by corck, where the other Half of the Rabbits cage is occupied by a 1/3 ratio fawn group (2 Italien hens, a Machurian hen and a Machurian rooster) i have observe Them alot and it seems (no clue if im right) that the fighting amongs the male group comes out of frustration that they cant get to the hen’s.
So i Will try to make a temporary test, where i take 2 of the females an on of the males from the batchlor group and put Them togeather in a cat transporter, to see if it helps to get the “Steem” from the males out of Them.
My teori is pretty human i guess, all men get mudy if they dont get the bib taken out of Them once in a wile.😂 its pretty natural for animals to, due to breeding seeson to get aggressive in that time. I i feell alittle that im making pscykic torture by having Them so close to the females but they cant get to Them🫣😅
So now im going to test it with the quails. Becaurse i accturealy doe Think thats the problem here.
If it works i Will share the experiment on my Instagram. Coturnix_lua. 😊 if you or others have any sugestions for this “test” you are all welcome to write to it.
Im pretty new in quail so i dont know if anyone have experience in this test. Any sugestions are welcome. I just cant Seem to find somthing on male groups alone. Only this video and doe it great info ❤ its dont Seem ti be the problem im having. 🤷🏼‍♀️
