Thank you for this much-needed information. This is all still fairly new to me, can you answer a lot of pertinent questions. Thank you for all you do and for all the wonderful content you post on this channel. I love the inspiration.
Thanks Zack! You always provide great educational information. We’re quite concerned about y’all with the February 2023 chemical “issue” up there in Ohio. Praying that you, yours and your precious animals are all protected!!! God bless y’all.
??????Question???? When I get a bunch of eggs from you the first time. 170 every 3ish weeks or so. Then after the first bunch hatch I get another 170. Will all these be brothers and sisters? How can I get two different 170 eggs hatches from totally different perence from you??? Is this possible all from you??? These all will be jumbo wilds.... Thanks Zack.
I’ve got three jumbo coturnix that are six weeks and 18 mix from pearls, jumbo and Egyptian that almost right at 4 weeks. So far I believe the three older ones to be one male and two female. So far only one is for sure crowing and loudly. When can I add more females from the other group to be safe for all of them.
"As always, great videos. Thank you very much for the wonderful information. I have a question- clarification. (My English is not very good) When you say that we should change the males every nine months or the females every one and a half years, do you mean (approximately) 10 months until they reach adulthood plus 9 months, and similarly for females? Did I understand correctly?"
Hey Zack, I enjoyed the video as always. I understand the need to change out the birds on some kind of schedule. I am looking to run 2 groups. I plan on changing out roosters 6 months and hens annually. My question is, how do I select the best replacements. Thanks, Ken
Thank you for this very informative video. I am learning to raise quails for five months now. This morning, I discovered a female quail dying from having an egg stuck in its rear too long. It’s the first time I have this problem with the hen. Is there a way to save the female quail when this situation occurs? Is there a way to prevent the egg from getting stuck? Thanks.
The Hens and Roosters that you 'retire' from producing, are they okay to just process for meat at that point? I just ordered 50 hatching eggs from you guys the other day and am excited to get started on my quail!
Am I wrong by wanting to specialize in jumbo wild and jumbo white I only have the space for 9 cages and I think if I have to many breeds I won't have enough room
Zack, I have 6 cages with 4 cages of 5 hens and a roo, and two cages with 4 hens and a roo. In order for me to change out the roos and hens I would need to collect eggs from one cage for several days and hatch those eggs by themselves. I would have to do it for for each cage to get different roos and hens to start over again. Am I right?
What would happen if the celadons mate with jumbos , because I think that’s what happened. So I’m now seeing prolapse issues cause you have a big egg but a small passageway !
So when you say you need to keep two cages can I hatch the eggs together or do I need to know which quail came from which cage and keep putting them back together?
Once again I learned something from you. My first set of eggs from you will arrive in March and I've been preparing.
That’s great! Good luck!!!!

Thanks but it was very far away from us
Very nice, super informative video! Well done! Keep up the good work
Thanks a lot!
I am curiously considering adding quail to my tiny farmette. I really appreciate your informative videos.
Good luck and I am sure you will love them
Good information as usual. Was glad to hear about the male offspring switching which is what I typically do.
Good deal. You know what to do….
Subscribed and ordered my first quail eggs!
Thank you and good luck
Ha many cages!! Like for me I have to build a new small barn to fit 10 or more cages in! 🤔🤔
There you go
Fantastic info! It is something I have been wondering about introducing new blood recently.
Wonderful then good timing
Good information!!! You didn't ask for it, but I think a good way to improve videos is to show videos of quail and then narrate over them.
Thank you I just don’t have the patience to do that hahahaha
Thank you for this information!! My first batch are a year old and I've started to wonder when I need to retire them. Very helpful.
Glad it helped
Good information, thank you!!
Thanks for watching

That would not be a problem at all. We take care of that on our end

When they youngest are 6 weeks old

They reach maturity at 6-8 weeks so it would be total. So from day of hatch around 9 months for males

Look them over for the looks, weight them and then separate and check productivity

It could be just a one off or if it continues to happen then it would be a calcium deficiency

Yes that is what we do
@@MyshireFarm Thanks for the info!

If you are doing it as a side business then you would be missing out on an entire demographic but everyone is different
When replacing male and female Quail are they just disposed of or any use for?
You could butcher to eat, sell to falconer or reptile for feeders or dog food
Good info., Zack. What is maximum age for taking Quail for meat?
We recommend at 8 weeks old
When do you start selling adults on your website? In a pervious video you talked about celadons. Will you be selling celadon hatching eggs soon?
I am hoping 2 weeks from yesterday.
Great information! I know you don't like chickens but does this rule apply to them as well when breeding them?
I am not too sure as I am anti chicken hahahaha
@@MyshireFarm 🤣
hello, where do you get the blue paper towels you use?
Any automotive store
How deep do you build your brooder boxes

You could or put a divider in the incubator to separate
I'm just curious if you make your living with quail? Thanks for all the info!
Yes we do
What would happen if the celadons mate with jumbos , because I think that’s what happened. So I’m now seeing prolapse issues cause you have a big egg but a small passageway !
The celadons would just start adding weight eventually
What would the eggs color be if u mix them? Would they still be blue or just regular spotted eggs? Or a blend of both Blue and Spotted?
@@the_luminary Blue is a recessive gene. You just wouldn't have blue eggs unless they mated Blue with Blue.
I have 3 cages and they are all related, the breeder told me they are. I ordered eggs twice and then found out. Would this be a different problem?
I would maybe just get in a few males and then you would be set
@@MyshireFarm Thank you!
Speaking of new blood, are yall booked out on jumbo hatching eggs for the foreseeable future?
They will be back on the website mid January
@@MyshireFarm Nice! Thanks for replying!
Would it be even better to bring new blood in every year?
Not necessary at all but you can if you feel it is needed
What is hatching true mean?
For ex, if you breed wilds then 99% hatch wilds where as if you breed tuxedos you will have 50% tuxedo, 25% solid and 25% white
Do you feel there’s and advantage to crossbreeding
We cross breed a lot. Keep things fresh
So when you say you need to keep two cages can I hatch the eggs together or do I need to know which quail came from which cage and keep putting them back together?
You can hatch together
