When I saw Jethro Tull in the early 80's I was completely unaware of the opening act and like most shows your usually eager to get to the headliner.
Well, unknown to me before hand, the opening act was "SAGA" and they blew my mind. They were fantastic and I couldn't have seen them at a better time in their career. I'd have to look it up to be positive but I'm pretty certain it was the "Heads or Tales" tour. The album right after "Worlds Apart" which this song is on. Incidentally they to this day are still my 2 favorite SAGA albums. But wow, being a guitar player Ian Crichton got my attention immediately. He's technically amazing and sounds incredible. I'm still amazed he doesn't get a lot more attention than he does? But I became an instant fan of both Ian and SAGA . Michael Saddler is a charismatic energetic front man with a great voice and multi talented. He plays bass, keyboard and percussion and probably about anything else he desires I suppose? But SAGA is such a great band. It's great that they're still going strong too. They were going to stop a few years back and not sure what happened but happily they're still around. Great to see you on here doing this. Great song off a great album. Am I saying "great" too much? LoL 🤣 sorry it really is a relevant word for this GREAT BAND keep on rocking my friend ☮️

I grew up here in Alabama and was/am a HUGE Saga fan! I got the chance to see them open for Heart way back in the day and they were awesome! So glad to see someone giving them the respect they deserve! Thanks for this video!

This song blew my mind when I first listened to it in 1982. I was 14 then. The 80s was the best modern rock music in existence. Journey, Styx and Loverboy

I wanted to pass long how valuable this lesson is. I've been working on it for my own cover, but some parts were driving me absolutely nuts. Brilliantly written and technically mastered. Very thankful you took the time to break this down so well for everyone. Great job and thanks for sharing to all.

When I was 13 or 14 I bought their live album In Transit with Carful where you step, Don't be late, etc, I loved their music mixing synth and guitar and all the palm-muted parts (I had no idea what it was at the time as I didn't play guitar at all).

Great tune and lesson Kelly Dean! has a great heavy beat and solo that moves along. I love those great sustaining D and E chord strums after the solo too!

I always liked this song and wanted to learn to play it. I had the opportunity to see them live in Chattanooga when the song was still relatively new, and my eyes were glued to the guitar player.
Now I shall learn the song correctly.
Thank you for doing this song.

Great tutorial for this excellent classic song! This one helped a lot. Only thing I would add is that the first half of the third verse doesn't have the chugs. He holds out chords the first half of the third verse and then returns to the chugs for the second half of the verse.

Before they were called Saga they were known as pockets. Two keyboard players from what I remember, saw them many times at the gasworks in Toronto.

regarding the riff at 9 mins, it sounds as Ian is going all the way down to B flat, it just doesn't sound right stopping at C with double picks, but i'm not 100% sure

Oh interesting, I did not know that they were not as popular as over here (Ger) … there was no party back in the day (I am 55) without Saga being spinned or not being on the mix tape (cassette). Thanks for this reminder 😊
