In case no one has told you, that was a fishing kite that was flying above that sport fisher. They clip a live bait to the kite and use it to get ir away from the boat. Works well.
All the other videos I have seen that talk about "surf shark" I always fast forward it because it seems so irrelevant to me. The way you explained it made it actually made sense to me and it was the first time I sat through a whole promo for them. Cheers lol
We made the mistake once of sailing our little ODay 192 north out of West Palm Beach for an afternoon day sail. We stayed within a half mile of the beach. When we turned around and tried returning to port we learned how close the Gulf Stream is to land. We had to motor against the current. It was frightening to be speeding through the water while barely making progress along the beach.
You're a total hoot, Sam! So hilarious! And very skilled in many ways, especially sailing. You are living the dream, my man! Keep it up! Can't wait for your next presentation.
Sam I am a long time windsurfer and love ripping across the bays on plane. Foot straps are the key along with a harness to pull down the boom and therefore the mast. When your dialed in your back foot is pushing out against fin pressure harness is pulling down on mast foot hands are just steadying rig with micro pressure adjustment. Once you get it you’ll know how to get on plane and it’s the biggest rush! On another note I’m building a Paradox sailboat and my first big trip will be Biscayne to Bimini and cruise the Bahamas for a couple weeks. February 2026….at least that’s the dream !
Just before 17 minutes is a fishing kite. He has different lines coming off clips on the kite to different rods and it makes the baits dance on the surface. You want to stay up wind of boats doing that. Great video!
The VPN commercial/ information given was good. Often I skip the adds. The way you present your sponsor, I actually listened to what you said. Really enjoy your videos. Thank you 🙏
It's great to see how you improvise at any problem. And that foil, pumping and holding on, seems a real work out for all body, and fun dor sure. Great stuff dude.
Another great update from Sam Holmes Sailing and Wind Foiling. You have so much fun Sam and I enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.
omg. i loved what is the TH-cam Humor! Putting that 'found' NyLock back on, one-handed with channel locks. that was Classic! The things you have to do for the shot!!
with the dji osmo action, it's important to see if the battery is fully locked in you can see if that's the case, when you don't see anything red in the locking mechanism, when it only shows the red light I always pull out the battery and put it back in and that usually works
If you've not seen it yet, check out Laird Hamilton surfing big waves on a foil-board in the movie "Step Into Liquid"... pretty rad. Folks recognize you because you've become a TH-cam "Sailebrity"...
Sam, love your adventures! Man, fixing up a free boat and sailing it hundreds of miles. Way to go! I learned how to foil (barely) behind a wake board boat, and I def want to get one of those inflatable wings and give it a shot this summer. Thanks for the motivation! That looks super fun and (as I was hoping) the power required looks to be reasonably achievable with a wing sail.
Sam - In Man o War country ***ALWAYS*** have a bottle of ammonia aboard. If stung, DON'T do anything - just pour ammonia onto the sting. That will kill the stinging cells which have _not yet_ stung you, and also serve to help the "already-stings" feel better. After letting the ammonia do its work, then pull off any strings of tentacles on your skin. If you try that beforehand, you will just make the stings worse.
As soon as I saw where that nut goes and Sam's toolbox, I thought: "oh, boy, we're gonna see Sam use something other than a socket wrench or open ended wrench!"
First step in hoping to save an electronic device that is liquid damaged is remove the battery immediately to avoid shorts. It may come back to life but needs to be opened up and cleaned.
Sam - what is the name of the weather app you said you liked in this video? When you said the name it sounded like "Lucky Grib", but I am not finding an app of that name.
Experienced hands will suggest staying close enough to the Florida coast on a southbound voyage to see the design on the women’s bikinis. Thx, fun vid, Andrew
Those man a war don't hurt. if you get stung you will probably not feel it. Worst case, you'll feel like a little scratch burn after you get out of water.
I'd worry the salt water would destroy that bike up there. Take the wheels off and loosen the headset so you can turn the handlebars sideways, maybe remove the pedals too. You'd be surprised how small a space a bike takes up when broken down like that.
Hey Sam! Always enjoy your vids! What is the make and size of this boat? I am also interested in make model your tiller auto Pilot is. I am on a '72 Pearson 33 and bought a Cape Horn wind vane and wondering if I should have gone for a tiller auto. Thanks in advance!
I think if you look at the statistics, the risks are not extremely high of shark attacks. Sometimes I feel a little nervous before I jump in the water but if I see a shark while I’m already swimming they just seem to swim away and it doesn’t really scare me. I think the fear is more in our imaginations and when you actually see them, it’s not so bad.
Here in Florida you're more likely to be struck by lightning than attacked by a shark. Common sense is the key, take cover when there's a storm, don't go swimming with an open bleeding wound. The man of war jellyfish is the real threat, those suckers are pretty painful, but not deadly...
@@Usachatnow 46,000 +/- a year die in car crashes just in the US but you drive everyday.....56 +/- people die from shark bites world wide...an even better one for you 150+/- people die from falling cocoanuts every year. 😂. Cocoanuts are 3 times more dangerous than sharks. Lol

It’s always a great day when you post. Glad you found your boat!! Gives new meaning to “Solo Sailing”. ⛵️🏃♂️

The loose nut in the cockpit near the drain was exciting! Looks like fun to me!!!😂
the loose nut in the cockpit is 6’1” @ 145lbs
LOL - and he hadn't even drilled a hole yet!! "Hang onto yer nuts, Skipper!!" (sounds like something Gilligan would say.)

I found this particularly tranquil and soothing, Sam. The sailing shots of the gently rolling boat really made me want to be there.

that was a good ad, felt very real and personal because well ... sam is legit, just a normal guy it seems to me anyway
Great Run Down the Coast... Even with that little gulf stream snag near West Palm Beach ⚓
Really cool shots of the Foiling. very cool to watch
Thanks 👍
Thanks for the intro to wing foiling! I will have to try it this summer.

At 13:20, are those crickets I am hearing? Wait, never mind. Must be the auto-tiller moving.
You are winning Sam
ive never seen a jib sailbag. I think I know why, but Im ALL in!
A wonderful bird is the Pelican. It’s beak can hold more than it’s Belly can.
i think the kite on the fishing boat is a rig for catching sail/swordfish.
Killer Video keep the east coast cruising going !
LOVED the surfshark ad. I hate ads. So bluntly honest and informative. Love your channel.
Glad u found your boat always nice to see you post.
Great sailing, Thanks Sam! I needed that!!....⛵⛵⛵
Sam seems very honest person. Not like other TH-camrs who do this for the money. If I ever need vpn I will get surfshark because of you.

Here Sam Comes To Save The Day!!! Hope you are having a great time!
Sam, your camera setup looks like an old timey knight's helmet with the nose guard thingy! Great improv there.
the "what is that?" part is a kite I believe. I could be wrong, but some use a kite to skip baits on the surface like a flying fish (tuna fishing).
love to see you getting some sponsors. keep the adventures coming!
We'll see you in the Keys !
16:22 that's kite fishing! 🎣 simulates flying fish
I am so bad at hydrofoiling. Lake Champlain Vermont. Love the vlog big G.

Hang on two jibs ! You have just blown my mind. That’s lazy and very clever thanks !
They recognize you by that big smile Sam
If you're still in Miami or the Keys I'd love to treat you to a nice dinner. Love your videos. You are living the life my brother.
What a life it's your smile
The fishing boat was flying a bait kite. Keeps live baits from diving to the bottom.
Hi Sam really enjoy your chanel thank you for the shark info and promo code cheers from the Salish sea

Did a large boat go by?
No, that’s the wing foil hip thrust.
Enjoyed the video Sam.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Sam, Any chance of you doing a piece on how you plan/navigate, particularly the long trips and European ports, do you use paper charts?
To many people running there mouths on here. Shut up and let Sam sail he’s one of the best you people are dings. Fair winds Sam🌊⛵️
Great video
Love these videos
Good one
How'd the race go with that other sailboat off West Palm ... seems like he was bringing it. The juices had to be flowing.
Doesn't the go pro hat mount on top of the bill?
No way that would look retarded
Great video.
Great as always Sam....So what's up with Zo these days? Was fun watching you two explore the Florida coast.

Where to find cheap sailboats?
That is a cloudwater foil right? How it works??
Its built from a clearwater kit
Action camera. Apparently not waterproof. I LMAO at that.
DID YOU FIX THE WATER LEAK? WHERE WAS IT?
Yeah it was a little leak on the rudder shaft. Fixed with some epoxy putty.
so do you surf surf? like paddle into a wave? easy treasiston from what your doing now!
whew, that looks like a workout!! 😅
Wow! Two spy balloons in one day!

Nose camera had me in tears!!!!! LOL
Crocs with socks? 🤓 Only Sam could look cool in that combo.
Yeah, the Crocs kind of rub my feet when im barefoot so I like them with socks. So good 😊

You only need to use a vpn to spoof TH-cam when you sign up for yt premium. Ive been using yt premium for over a year no problems.
Sam, can you tells us how the B 29 compares to the CD 28?
It sails pretty similar I suppose. Its a bit wider though. I’ll try to go more in depth in a future video.
Looking forward to that video. Was wondering the same myself.
