Camaret. I hope you had the occasion to learn the famous song about the Priest of Camaret ! Next time I hope you'll sing it to us with your ukulele 😁 Regarding your salmon I read "trout" (truite) on the pack. Technicaly a trout is a member or the salmonids family, but it's not a salmon and certainly not "a weird French salmon". Just a trout. 😉
Cheers, mate! Great passage! I'm based in Poole, southern England and hope to venture to France again in my boat - Contessa 28. Really nice to see real sailors in small boats who are not in quarter of a million buck super yachts making these epic passages! Good job, fair winds and following seas!

I could really sense the anxiety of the sailing, the passage and the mental battle against wind and waves. Sam, this video particularly pulls us in. Great job!
At 16:33 the "Salmon" you are cooking isn't exactly salmon, the package says: "truite saumonée". That's Sea Trout (aka Salmon Trout) and explains why the skin is so different.
Loved your use of the navionics voice-over to describe current sailing conditions/ destination. Really adds to the story telling when its used during the passage as opposed to a recap later on. Same goes for the 360 cam sail changes. Thanks for bringing us along with you Sam!
Been watching your videos for the past year or so. My Father used to take me out sailing as a kid with his buddies up in mid-coast Maine. I remember getting anxiety from how they would sail - getting the edge as close to the water as possible. Never thought I'd want to go sailing again in my life but you proved me wrong. From the way you explain what you're doing to the places you explore. It's a world full of wonder and excitement. What really makes these videos special is your vibrant, wholesome personality which makes the viewer feel as though we are watching a good friend on his adventures across the seas - a place few of us are able to explore. Thank you so much for posting these travels. I lived in France for two years and was fortunate enough to travel to Saint Malo, Dinard, Dinan and Saint Lunaire. You are bringing back fond memories. Ps. French salmon is very different, and the Merguez sausages are wonderful!
Again a nice video. The Bay of Biscay can be terrible when it comes to waves (see eg Igor Stropnik's videos where he sails various catamarans from the Netherlands and France to Croatia). By the way, I love these sleepy little French towns. Not only along the coast, but also inland. There is a very special atmosphere there which I really like with old buildings and a lot of unpretentious history.
At 19:02, see the little church and its broken spire? It was actually blown off by an English cannonball during a battle in the 17th century and never got rebuilt. I live in the US but my hometown is close to Camaret, I’ve been following you for several years and it’s so cool to see you there Sam! Fair winds to you

I think I'm still satisfied with sailing closer to home with my little San Juan 21 and my Hobie Adventure Island. But thanks, Sam for doing what you're doing so we don't have to and can just enjoy your videos!!

Watch out for White Gladis and her Orca Pod when you get near Gibraltar Sam. They've sunk two yachts already. A British yacht was attacked the other day and nearly sunk and had to be rescued. The pod took out the rudder which left a gapping hole in the stern.
Love everything about sail boats/sailing except the seasickness and constant danger...i used to work on the North Atlantic and Davis Strait in winter on a small ship...60-70 days on, 30 days off, ..no running into ports for bad weather except the most extreme weather forecast and even then maybe not. Sailed that coast many times. Not sure I would call those big waves for that area, when the swell is as tall as your mast, then they are big. Mind short and steep, so not nice. You were lucky to not get fog. Pre GPS we have been fog bound for a week. Also had the fog descent half way through the Chanel du Four, went from one buoy to the next…until we lost sight of the last…scary.
