Iv'e been listening to Sid Mark on the radio for close to 60 years. Friday With Frank, Sunday's with Sinatra , and even when I was away at college, I found Sid on an New York station broadcasting on Saturday nights. He has brought me such joy playing the music of Frank Sinatra over the decades he feels li!e family. Thanks Sid.

Was looking fwd again to catch Frank Sinatra Jr again soon until I read earlier this year in March of his sudden passing while on a singing tour, Like his Dad, I'll surely miss him and Grateful I was able to catch him in Jazz Supper-clubs many a time, indelible memories!!

I am now an elderly Lady but will never forget my teens! We also as young girls grieved when he separated from his wife , the Kids Mom! We loved her also! A History lesson !!!
He looked so much like him, but he has the same stoicism and mannerisms too. It Cannot have been easy to be a musician in your own right and perpetually in Franks light. Yet he seemed to hold his father in such reverence, which is a testament to Frank as a father I guess. I remember hearing his father say once, "I look at all these kids of celebrities taking the wrong path, and I think wow I really got lucky, thank God, my kids are doing great".....or words to that effect. I had not known Sinatra's interest in recording songs he'd never done before, though I heard "My Foolish Heart" and a few others on WPEN, off the complete Reprise collection. Even at that late stage in FAS's career, that album would have been fantastic.
RIP Sid. In the mid 2000s in my early 20s I was a regular listener to Friday's with Frank as I would drive my young family around here and there. It seemed to keep our babies calm and quiet while we drove.
I love hearing and seeing Frank Jr. in interviews on TH-cam. He was so entertaining and had a fantastic sense of humour that had me laughing - a lot - and delivered in a slow , deliberate but very knowledgeable and descriptive manner. I found him a fascinating individual to listen to and to hear of so many really interesting accounts of experiences he and his dad had over the years. Many people have really good things to say about what a good guy he was, too. What a shame he passed on unexpectedly at such a relatively young age.
I had a chance to see him at PARX Casino in Bensalem, PA, when this was taped -- months ago but something came up. I thought that there would be more time to see him again. God had other plans. "Regrets, I have a few ..."

Yes, he died not long after this taping.. He looks weary from the road. Nightclubs are hard on the human body. The smoke, the drinking, the drugs.....they all permeate the clubs and make it difficult for a nightclub singer to escape. And mix in having had heart problems run in your family (not sure about the MARX side) is not favorable to one's longevity. But Frankie Jr. lived a long and semi-prosperous life. Never saw the riches that his famed father had, but he was able to once buy a Cadillac. A prized possession of his.
The man sitting behind Frank Sinatra, Jr. resembles an old friend of ours and Frank Sinatra and whose name was Al Steinman. He died in 2009 of cancer. Al was a great guy. We met him at Moby Dick restaurant in Santa Barbara, which he was co-owner. We frequented the restaurant twice a month. We live in the San Luis Obispo area. I introduced Al to Frank's album, "Watertown," which is a great album. The restaurant was decorated with Sinatra memorabilia.
I saw both Senior & Junior in Chicago. Surprisingly, I enjoyed Junior more. It was a small setting and he was very gracious. Guess I saw Senior on a bad night. He just wanted to get the show over with.
Jr was very intelligent!!! Adored his father and it’s wonderful to he at least worked side be side with his dad … even though it was seven years… I’m sure that time was embedded in his heart…. Frank Sr also. RIP… now you and you dad can be together again.

Too bad he died at just 72, considering his dad lived to be 82. As a Bing Crosby aficionado, and like Sinatra's music very much also, I only wish that Bing's sons would have picked up the mantle of their father; Sinatra Jr. was a perfect "mouthpiece" for the Sinatra legacy, knew the Music Industry very well, the participants, and behind the scenes. Could be that Bing was a generation ahead, and such "opening up" into their Dad's business just wasn't done. Also, Bing never sung "with a set Studio Orchestra," as he sung more independently--although John Scott Trotter, and songwriters, Cahn and Van Heusen were Bing's favorite songwriters........but I so enjoy Frank, Jr. in his very matter of fact, knowledgeable, in informative tone. A former employer of mine - retirement age when I joined the firm 30 years ago - said, when asked 'What's your favorite song?' SOFTLY, AS IN A MORNING SUNRISE. He was surprised that I could tell him who wrote it: "Words by Oscar Hammerstein II set to a pre-existing melody by Sigmund Romberg." Frank Jr must have loved it too - enough to record and perhaps introduce younger listeners to its beauty. A poignant 'Is that all there is?' sort of lyric, that fits the tune to a 'T'. "Softly as in a morning sunrise The light that gave you glory Will take it all away . . . " Somewhere there may be a video of Frank Sinatra Jr reflecting on why he selected certain more obscure songs to record. Would love to have asked him, jokingly: “What made you 'pluck THIS one from obscurity'?” A world-class musicologist, he would have had an enjoyable story to tell. 20 years ago I purchased tickets to see Frank Sinatra Jr perform with Winnipeg's world-class symphony orchestra (which had backed at least one Sinatra impersonator I've seen twice since). It broke our hearts when his scheduled tour of western Canadian cities had to be canceled, and tickets refunded without explanation. I like to think this song would have been included. Unforgettable was written by Irving Gordon, not Riddle. Riddle did a specific arrangement that Nat King Cole went with, but it was a Gordon song. It's surprising that Sinatra Jr. didn't know that.

I MET FRANK JR BACK IN THE EARLY 80s in Las Vegas Talked to him for about 10 minutes and then he invited me over to his house and asked me how my family was! It was then I realized that I was a doppelganger and he mistook me for someone else we laughed and he said well I'll be damned! Can't make this shit up! NOW THIS IS THE WEIRD PART! My father had a restaurant back in the 50s at 4 am in the morning Frank Sinatra wanted a spaghetti dinner so my dad said if you don't mind waiting I can make you one! FRANK SAID IT WAS THE BEST HE EVER HAD AND I STILL HAVE MY DADS RECIPE! WHAT A HOOT!
Jr would have had a better career and happier life if his parents had named him Tony or George or anything other than Frank Jr. His name did him no favors.

I always loved to hear Frank Sinatra Jr talk and sing. But when he would speak he had so much knowledge of the history of not only his father's music but musicians, composers and arrangers in the business. It was a pleasure to hear him. Sorry he is gone.

I MET FRANK JR BACK IN THE EARLY 80s in Las Vegas Talked to him for about 10 minutes and then he invited me over to his house and asked me how my family was! It was then I realized that I was a doppelganger and he mistook me for someone else we laughed and he said well I'll be damned! Can't make this shit up! NOW THIS IS THE WEIRD PART! My father had a restaurant back in the 50s at 4 am in the morning Frank Sinatra wanted a spaghetti dinner so my dad said if you don't mind waiting I can make you one! FRANK SAID IT WAS THE BEST HE EVER HAD AND I STILL HAVE MY DADS RECIPE! WHAT A HOOT!
Jr would have had a better career and happier life if his parents had named him Tony or George or anything other than Frank Jr. His name did him no favors.
