Only been ice fishing for three years and your videos have improved my performance and catch. Thanks for all the free advice and well done to you and your mate for keeping me informed and entertained.
Great instructional video. I too love the Frabill Thermals for ease of storage and set up. I like to tread a button on the line. That way, if I'm fishing a specific depth, I can tell how much line to let out with out using my flasher or camera. And, the button slides up and down the line to adjust if you move to a different depth.
May want to take a look at circle hooks. Our group got rid of the treble hooks/quick strike rigs this year and will never look back. 100% hookup, zero fish damage and the ease of hook removal is unbelievable! And yes multiple fish 28.5, 29.5 pounders.
Somewhere around the 9:30ish mark. Hahaha "tip-up-cly" Idk if it was intentional but I've been chuckling. On a real note though, if you could do a review on float suits I'd really appreciate it. Happy fishing Jay and family.
Hey have you ever fished just north of lynn lake mb.? I used to fish and camp on a lake named vandekerckhove...man those were fun trips! 21 hr drive from my house in northern mn. Love watching your ice fishing videos!
I just fixed up a bunch of old wooden cross tip-ups. Used this video as guidance for rigging. Looking forward to a trip out! Frozen smelt still a functional bait?
Used these on a really cold day at the lake th-cam.com/users/postUgkxDn2sw8y7H6oNOV0envADWPlTV9pvctAA the spool was really fluent in letting the line out and the whole mechanism was really responsive to any hit from the fish, it was also great that you can adjust it for big or small fish. The light it came with works great in the dark. The only thing that I had problems with is the depth droppers clasp is really weak and it wouldn't stay on the hook unless you threaded the hook through the springs
Hello Jay I know the ice isn’t quite out yet but are you going to be using Summit fishing’s new pole mount on your boat for the summer.. just wondering how strong the pole is when moving around with bow mount trolling motor. It looks light in videos.. thanks from your neighbours to East in Dryden 😀
@@JaySiemens I just ordered it after talking to the owner, I ordered it with the ram mount bracket after watching some reviews on you tube.. I guess I will see shortly 😀
Do you ever use live bait for northern? Or do you buy them dead? if you use live bait that died is there a special way to preserve them? I'm from Wisconsin and don't get out as much as I want so I want to try and save money on bait.
Jay, what habitat, water depth, type of water do you look for to fish spring pike? I’m hoping to do some in Alaska over the next month but trying to narrow down where to target the big boys! Thanks
I can't speak for flip up, but I got an eskimo quick fish 3 thus year and love it. Check out Facebook marketplace, stuff is going for super cheap right now
it sucks, here in wisconsin they close the northern season as late ice fishing happens. ice gets off around the 2nd week of april and they close northern season first week in march:((
With or without a closing, a very informative video with great fishing action. Besides, after losing all the oxygen to your brain with all that running, it's excusable to forget to close it out. Lol
Noooooo. Stop the ice fishing lol. We haven't had ice for about a month now and it kills me seeing you still able to be out there lol. I haven't had as much fun as I did this year ice fishing in a long time. I'm ready for next year already lol
There is no way that shop is actually used as a shop... lol just saying! Look how clean it is. Also, you can get waxed line made for tipups that wont absorb water as much.
I bought clams.. they fucking suck. Don't fit in the bucket right. Too tight and don't reach the bottom so can be hard to get out.. .. also that measuring board has a huge design flaw. Small cut out relief for the fingers in the fold part so you don't need to release the handle to fold it.

Thats great to hear! I appreciate that!
Hands down the best part of the day is when Jay post a video. Always amazing content 👏.
Love the in depth tutorials man! I don't know about you, but I'm getting excited for some open water small mouth fishing.
Best part of my day is when Jay posts!!!

Videography is in point!
Okay, I rarely do tip-up fishing... until now. As a runner, this could be my winter cardio. ;) Great vid, as usual.
I have done this method for a few years now and I love it. I use to buy the all ready made ones from cabelas and it can get expensive.
Yeah definitely!

Not sure yet! I played with it in the fall a bit, was tough to get it locked in solid.

I think all those pike were bigger than any pike I've caught this year😂😂😂. Great video
Love it. Keep working on that cardio 😁
Maybe i missed it but do you use a flouro leader between you main and leader for pike?
Jay, what habitat, water depth, type of water do you look for to fish spring pike? I’m hoping to do some in Alaska over the next month but trying to narrow down where to target the big boys! Thanks
Whenever you cut the hook out of a fish with the bull cutters, does it cause future damage to the fish?
started pike fishing cuz of u jay
Do you use a quick strike on a jig? We always used a single hook but was wondering if using treble would be worth trying
Great how to video you guys! Any tips to how you are choosing the depth and area to fish come this late in the ice season?
wow those nice catch… which lake is this guys? we went wizard lake in calmar alberta but not this kind of size.
cool looking sled ,can we get a video on the setup on it?
Great video!!
Great vid jay!
What cheap flip over shelter do you recommend
I can't speak for flip up, but I got an eskimo quick fish 3 thus year and love it. Check out Facebook marketplace, stuff is going for super cheap right now
Thanks man
Do you use a snap on the main tip up line to swap out rigs? Or tie direct?
Hey Jay, great videos. Is there any chance catch and cook will have a gluten free version?
It's on the to-do list! Hopefully soon!
Jay get some sunglasses on lol!
it sucks, here in wisconsin they close the northern season as late ice fishing happens. ice gets off around the 2nd week of april and they close northern season first week in march:((

Yours shouldn't photography is the best
Sorry your cinematography is the best and I love when you're catching fish
Does adding black color to the flag matter that much? I’ve never had any problems with my plain orange ones.
Not much
