I saw them in the 80's and early 90's at that time of this song. They went through so many different phases in their music scene.1st Southern Death Cult 1981, 2nd Death Cult 1983-1984 ,3rd The Cult...From Punk to Goth and finally Heavy metal but still the top.
Are you kidding me???!!! One of the BEST songs EVER!!! Part of the soundtrack of my life! The Cult are freaking epic!!!! Be back to comment after I watch! You're killing it tonight!!👍🤘❤
Yes, I've seen them a couple of times and they're amazing. Have been listening to them since the 80s, all their albums are amazing, and love their early stuff too.
I'm fairly certain that I got pregnant to this song way back in '89.... 😅😅😅😅🔥🔥🔥🔥 It was either this one or my fave by The Cult - Wildflower. Lol Check that one out! Also bangers-- She Sells Sanctuary 🔥🔥🔥 Love Removal Machine 🔥🔥🔥
I absolutely love this song. I'm 69, and once about 30 years ago, a friend and I were trying to figure out what our teenage kids could do to shock us or rebel against us. We couldn't come up with a thing. Sorry young people. You'll never achieve the coolness of your parents or grandparents. You have no idea. Don't know why I felt compelled to tell you that. LOL Might be the wine.
No need to apologize . It's funny when your kids start asking what your listening to and they're eyes are opened to how what sort of banging tune's we listened too.
The Cult is the bomb. Who suggested this group to you? Awesome! Try Edie and Sweet Soul Sister. The entire album is gold! Btw, crank these up when driving, don't get a ticket, lol. (React to some Tom Macdonald and you'll get your channel views boosted)
I asked him to react to it for my birthday a few days ago but didn't say when my birthday was! He played it almost exactly when it turned my birthday tonight!! 😃💃🔥🤘
Well... about an hour ago it became my birthday, which you could not have known. 😁 and I finished doing dishes and turned on the tv to youtube and BAM!!!! I really wasn't expecting it but there's my favorite song!! Yippee!! Thank you soo much, I teared up for about 10 seconds until I was dancing around the living room!! That was the coolest way to start my birthday out I ever had!! 😍🍻😁 💃🎈🎸🎵🔥🔥🔥 You're the bomb, Twon!!
What was I doing to this song when it came out? Blasting it in the JBL cassette deck in my 1978 Camaro with the windows down, with my mullet flowing majestically in the wind. That is not a joke nor an exaggeration - that's precisely what I was doing. Lots of people will tell you Guns 'N Roses' "Appetite For Destruction" is the greatest hard rock album of the 80s. That's only because they never listened to The Cult's "Sonic Temple." Please dig on "Sun King" or "American Horse."
Totally great band, saw them back in the day, we were running down the sidewalk high as kites, they'd already started playing & we could hear "Fire Woman" outside the theater. Best live frontman I've ever seen perform.
I love this band because they are never boring to watch or hear! Ian Astbury the lead singer is Celtic and you can see some of those Irish dance steps in this video and others! But I loved this song from the first time I heard it and I can't hear it without getting up and moving!! 💃🎵 Turning 50-none of yo' business, by yourself just became not so bad after all, so thanks for putting a big goofy smile on my face! 😁😊🎈
As a 50 year old fan of reaction videos, I always appreciate when younger folks open up to classic bands that I loved growing up. The Cult was one of those bands. I got to see them live in 1989 as the opener for Metallica, then saw them again at Beale Street Music fest in Memphis as a headliner in May 2001. They were just as great and energetic live as they portray themselves in video. Cheers man!
Went to this tour and saw them in Baltimore. Unforgettable. Larger than life. Simply bad ass that this video doesn't even do justice. Easily one of the top 3 concerts (totally unexpected) of the over a hundred I have been to. Loved them before that "experience ", admired them from that moment forward.
So glad I saw them in concert during their Sonic Temple tour! The arena in Tampa was rocking and Ian put on a great show! Bonham and Enuff Z'Nuff opened for them. I miss those times!
BAHAHAHA!! You asked us to tell you about our memories to this song..... you said u know we were all rockin out, partying and maybe driving to fast.... that's not exactly my best memory involving this song.😉😉 Good times and I'll leave it at that!! 🤗😂🤣 Great reaction Twon!!👌
Lol.. My 18 year old son's hair is just like the singer's. Super long, not as straight tho his has curl but the weight of the length from his hair stretches them way out. I'm so jealous 😆😍
@@mizzwinter28 awe that's sweet. My son let me straighten his hair once but said it took too long. I'm jealous bc he literally does nothing but wash it and brush it and it dries naturally beautiful.. Umm I mean tough not beautiful 😆
My favorite Cult video. Ian looks freakin drop dead gorgeous here AND it is a KILLER song. Yes, his hair is "drapin". The most luscious locks in ALL of rock history. This guy just had that it factor that very few front men have. He's got the voice, the moves, the looks and you just can't take your eyes off him!!! Stage presence is through the roof!!! Billy (guitarist) is amazing as well, the dynamic duo. The Cult is ICONIC and TIMELESS!!!
Do yourself a favor. Make sure your headphones are working, make sure your pc or phone is working, make sure the volume will turn all the way to 10, and listen to this song on 11. I don't always listen to The Cult, but when I do so do my neighbors. And they thank me later.
You should hear their song She Sells Sanctuary kick ass too Bruh. Also The Hollies - Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress). It’s got a bluesy rock sound that’ll rock your ass.
And Twon, if you want to see who he was singing about, there really was a Fire Woman... he ended up dating her and she is featured in the video for another great Cult song, "Edie, Ciao Baby" which is about Edie Sedgwick, who was Andy Warhols muse and died tragically young. But Ms. Fire Woman plays her in the video!
Soooo... I commented on your last latest review with a few songs, but then I bumped into your reaction to Steve Perry's (Journey) amazazing voice. Im a 70s-80s wild child & he's always been one of my fave alltime singers. I used to TRY to cover him with my band in the late 80s, but there will only ever be 1 voice like his - EVER. LoL That said, PLEASE review Journey's "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'. If ever there was a song to showcase his range, that one is it. You said you love his voice, so I know it will blow you away in this song. Enjoy! 👍❤
We went to concerts and dance clubs.... we did not hang out. LOL. This band had great concerts. Ian Astbury... great hair, tall sexy with great moves. They appealed to the ladies and the guys love their hard core sound. Go back to the original video you used and read the comments. Ladies really love this video. LOL. Also the videos you have been watching are old with old sound technology. Oh... mic stand, check out Steven Tyler, Aerosmith! He dresses it up with scarves. ❤️m
You're not wrong..... These were fun songs to party to back in the 80's.... they're still fun hearing em now because they do bring great memories hearing them. Glad to see you reacting/enjoying so much great music!
When I was in college, a lot of really good albums dropped at about the same time. On the nights we didn’t go out, we would crank one up, have a bong load, and some Keystone Lights and play Tetris on the Nintendo. Sonic Temple was definitely in the rotation along with Metallica, Black Crowes, Replacements, Iron Maiden and many others 🤘✌️
I saw these guys in the late 80s as a back up band for who? I can’t even remember the headline band! Incredible performance and Best live vocals I’ve ever heard or seen!! I can still remember exactly where I was sitting and the angle of the stage
I've heard this song so many times over my life...Especially back when we had 96Rock. Man, I grew up with all the classics. Now I'm 35 and shit from the 90's are on The River, another classic rock channel. UnU I'm old. Lmao
I saw the Cult live in 1989 when they opened for Metallica and they sounded awesome live. One of the best live bands ever and they were terribly overlooked by the music industry.
I’m 48 now. I remember going downtown to get tickets to this show when I was 16 in my buddys moms station wagon. Smelled weed for the first time at show. In general. Amazing
My memory is our band playing the song. And we played it pretty freaking good. But no way could we ever touch this version. But still every time we played it the people would get up and go balls to the walls all over the place! I miss the 80’s n 90s.
Smokestack Lightning is a 1957 song about longing and desire. It captures the essence of yearning for someone or something that seems just out of reach. The “smokestack lightning” metaphorically represents a force that is both captivating and elusive, much like the object of the singer’s desire.
Reactions are really getting good...Shout out to ya!But yes, totally nailed it I probably did in fact get hyped and did some speeding when this song played on the radio🤓🤣✌
hey cool thanks for reacting....i was so in love with him when i was in college 20 plus years ago...have to listen to this song loud az need good speakers for this song...when i listen to this song so do my neighbors not sorry
It’s a studio version with clips of live performances filled in the appropriate slots... it doesn’t sound quite like this live.. but they are good live.. it’s just the studio version that is the most popular
HEY Twon you messing around my generation now these guys I loved because Ian is Irish. There were so many bands in the 80s and 90s. Motley Crue was my immediate go to Wild Side and girls girls girls kick start my heart Dr.feelgood then Cinderella all THIERE songs were on point you've got guns n roses winger I fell in love with lip winger Europe Carrie was my FAV I loved this reaction the cult I'm pretty sure I got pregnant to one of these hahaha
Ian Astbury was super sexy AND a powerhouse vocalist. They were fantastic LIVE back in my day. Dancing to this kind of music kept most of us out of the gym...any average night in a club, you could expect to lose a good 5lbs on the dancefloor.
One of the most overlooked, underrated and unappreciated rock bands in modern music history! Criminal!
Omg this song still gives me chills.I first heard this when I was about 12.One of my all time faves.
Absolutely!!!❤
I saw them in the 80's and early 90's at that time of this song. They went through so many different phases in their music scene.1st Southern Death Cult 1981, 2nd Death Cult 1983-1984 ,3rd The Cult...From Punk to Goth and finally Heavy metal but still the top.
They used to be post punk
Are you kidding me???!!! One of the BEST songs EVER!!! Part of the soundtrack of my life! The Cult are freaking epic!!!! Be back to comment after I watch! You're killing it tonight!!👍🤘❤
I never want that song to end 🤣
Me either!!!😂🤣😂🤣👍😎
Me either!!! 💃🔥🤘
LOVE, Love, love The Cult. I've only seem them once live and they sound just as good as the records, if not better.
Yes, I've seen them a couple of times and they're amazing. Have been listening to them since the 80s, all their albums are amazing, and love their early stuff too.
Saw them supporting GnR BACK IN 92, LOVE THEM SO MANY GREAT SONGS, SOO UNDERRATED
My sister caught one of Ian’s tambourines at one of his concerts and had it personally signed years later.
80s club dance floors exploded when this song played
I'm fairly certain that I got pregnant to this song way back in '89....
😅😅😅😅🔥🔥🔥🔥
It was either this one or my fave by The Cult - Wildflower. Lol
Check that one out!
Also bangers--
She Sells Sanctuary 🔥🔥🔥
Love Removal Machine 🔥🔥🔥
Well, you I and were doing the same thing when this song came out!!🤘I was only 19 so, thankfully.... I didn't get pregnant!!!😂🤣😅😅
Also, I'll 2nd all the songs listed!!👍👌
I absolutely love this song. I'm 69, and once about 30 years ago, a friend and I were trying to figure out what our teenage kids could do to shock us or rebel against us. Sad to say, the new culture has probably ruined our "old" days, for the next generation. 😢
No need to apologize . It's funny when your kids start asking what your listening to and they're eyes are opened to how what sort of banging tune's we listened too.
The Cult is the bomb. Who suggested this group to you? Awesome!

Ian Astbury is mesmerizing. You can't pull your eyes away from him. He entertains you AND sings. Sexiest legs EVER!
Well... about an hour ago it became my birthday, which you could not have known. 😁 and I finished doing dishes and turned on the tv to youtube and BAM!!!! Happy birthday ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Happy Birthday 🎂
Song is fire! 👍🏼
1980’s BABY❣️❣️❣️🔥🔥🔥🙌Wooooo!!!hoo!!! 🙌 YEAH!!😁🤘😁🤘 🎼🎸🥁🎤🎧 💓

Ian is one of the most underrated front men. He reminds me so much of Jim Morrison (The Doors) in his stage presence. Great voice, great entertainer.
Totally great band, saw them back in the day, we were running down the sidewalk high as kites, they'd already started playing & we could hear "Fire Woman" outside the theater. Best live frontman I've ever seen perform.

I was born in 1972. I absolutely used to rock out to this song!! And still do!!!!
My man. Class of '90, REPRESENT!

Kids these days have absolutely no idea lol
I saw The Cult in Seattle in the 1990s and they were amazing! Thank you ❤️
Find you a girl that jams out to this song. All the others are no fun lol
The Cult powered a lot of dorm parties on base in the late 80's.
The cult did a track in the early 90s called “heart of soul” it was tight
LOVE your reaction to this! Love this song!
This song is at the top of my road tripping songs playlist! Love it!
You Sir hit the nail on the head.
I saw these guys opening up for Metallica at Pine Knob in 91 or 92. What a show!!
That’s a great front man right there! I definitely remember driving around in my ‘83 Camaro with the windows down, cranking this tune 💜
Listening to this at The safari bar in Covina Ca. Great memories !
"She sells sanctuary" is awesome.
So glad I saw them in concert during their Sonic Temple tour! The arena in Tampa was rocking and Ian put on a great show! Bonham and Enuff Z'Nuff opened for them. I miss those times!
I met Enuff Znuff and hung out with them in their hotel room with them for quite a while. Chip gave me some of his jewelry, lol
BAHAHAHA!! You asked us to tell you about our memories to this song..... you said u know we were all rockin out, partying and maybe driving to fast.... that's not exactly my best memory involving this song.😉😉 Good times and I'll leave it at that!! 🤗😂🤣 Great reaction Twon!!👌
😁
This was the theme song to my senior year of high school. I've seen The Cult over 30 times from coast to coast and they never disappoint.
Lol.. My 18 year old son's hair is just like the singer's. Super long, not as straight tho his has curl but the weight of the length from his hair stretches them way out. I'm so jealous 😆😍
This singer used to have his gf actually IRON his hair for him before events and concerts.
😅😅😅
@@mizzwinter28 awe that's sweet. My son let me straighten his hair once but said it took too long. I'm jealous bc he literally does nothing but wash it and brush it and it dries naturally beautiful.. Umm I mean tough not beautiful 😆
I love seeing young people listening to old songs and enjoying their selves bobbing their heads
The honesty is so refreshing. Thank You!

Very good song there good live they become m tv then sales a lot of albums
GREAT band! Definitely need to check out more of their songs.
The Cult rocks... glad you approve... yeah, too many memories

Anything off of their Electric album...you have my permission to do the whole thing, too.
Yes, we used to pre-party to the whole album in my college days in the late 80s :-)

She Sells Sanctuary is their best ever song off the Love album. We just saw them in concert on 5/6/22!
When I was in college, a lot of really good albums dropped at about the same time. Memory from this song: Radio blasting, top down, sun shining, doing 90+ down the highway on the way to Detroit for a concert with friends.
One of my favorite songs !!!
"LAWD have MERCY!" That's what I say when I see Ian in his prime!
"Edie" great song by them

This song will definitely get you a speeding ticket. I’m almost 60 y/old and an ‘80’s kid. This was the sh*t
This brings back some good memories
I've heard this song so many times over my life...Especially back when we had 96Rock. Man, I grew up with all the classics.

this song was on the radio the first time.i got pulled over and got a ticket when I was 16.
You can see in his face the second he realizes how good The Cult really is.

I've heard IAN described as the God of Hair and Microphone stand dancing. This video proves that.
I want his hair!! Love me some of the Cult
Had to dance to MJ and Prince back in the day but when a girl says yes and rocks out to this song back then. hell I married her.

Ian is BEAUTIFUL and such a rare front man. Has it all, including the most gorgeous hair.
1989, sitting in apartment bedroom playing this cassette on a Sony boombox. Roommate comes in and asks me to turn it down. 🙄 Country fan🙄
Ian Astbury was super sexy AND a powerhouse vocalist. They were fantastic LIVE back in my day. Dancing to this kind of music kept most of us out of the gym...any average night in a club, you could expect to lose a good 5lbs on the dancefloor.
