I freaking love you man! Bring us all together with music, old white guy here, I grew up in the sixties, in my gang of musicians and music lovers we didn’t give a rats butt what color or country or universe anybody was from! If you brought the power of music into our lives we worshipped your soul. Music can heal this messed up fighting between all sisters and brothers! Spread the Music, Spread the Love. As the great prophet Jimi said “ With the power of soul, anything is possible “
Quadrophenia is a masterpiece, but if I listen to the album start-to-finish, I’m exhausted. It’s an intensive experience. I saw them perform Quadrophenia live in Anaheim, CA in the 1990’s. Moon was long dead, but Zack Starkey (Ring’s son) filled in. Billy Idol played the “ace face”/bellboy. It was fantastic and Entwistle’s solo on “The Real Me” was something to behold.
The who has written some of the greatest songs of all time... This one Eminence front who are you we won't get fooled again are just some of the hits that are timeless masterpieces... So glad you found them... I grew up on these when I was a kid and still some of my favorite music today
Legendary band. It doesn`t get any better than that. Just fantastic and to the heart. The who was a lasting band, I had one of their first albums, Live at Leeds.
I love your reaction. It reminds me of when this record was released. Quadraphenia gave me the same feeling. The whole record is so well orchestrated. I’m a 67 year old man and you look like your probably in your twenties. Music is has no borders. It doesn’t matter how old or young you are. It can speak to you. Like I always say, “ music never lets you down “
The James Brown vocal analogy is actually accurate. When the band were starting out in 1964 in England they were big JB fans and did a lot of R&B and soul covers. In fact they billed themselves as "Maximum R&B". So yes James Brown was a vocal influence.
Omg it’s awesome that you chose this song from there rock opera Quadraphenia which I believe was ahead of it’s time. You know when a song brings you to a moment in your life, that’s what this one does, you feel the raw emotion in Daltrys performance. They should have gotten more acknowledgment for this but love the fact that a new generation is getting the joy that this band provides with their music
I saw that tour in Los Angeles. My first concert ever. T Bone Burnett opened for The Clash and got booed off the stage. Both The Clash and The Who were epic.

One of my absolute favorite songs of all time! It's poetry, it's sensual, metaphorical, it's hard core.. It ebbs and flows like the ocean waves crashing into the beach or kissing the sand. It's definitely a masterpiece!
The start of this song makes you wonder what in the he!! you're about to listen to, doesn't it? I was never a big WHO fan, but this is one of their best songs. Thanks once again for a great reaction. You are SO expressive with your facial expressions and your gestures. You just naturally are one of the best reactors.
James Brown sound is spot on - probably others have also said The Who were James Brown fans and started out as kids at school and then after leaving school as an R&B band playing Maximum R&B. The music in this sound represents the waves on Brighton beach on the south coast of England - it's pebbles and shingle, not sand, and sounds very like the music.
First concert was 1971, I have seen Pink Floyd, the Stones, Zeppelin, Yes, Jethro Tull, Kansas, Tom Petty, Neil Young, etc etc but the best was The Who in 1979.
OK Sir, How this song hit you, it hit a generation. It is off an album called Quadrophenia it is a 'rock opera' about a man who was schizophrenic. and had 4 personalities, like the band the Who. After much trauma the final song is this one. His soul is crying out for rain. the angst, the pain, is heard in Roger Daltry's voice.." Is spiritual in nature. the souring strings that up lift, presents the juxtaposition of humankind suffering yet hope that someone out there hears our plea. A stunning concept from a 'rock band'. I saw it in you... It hit you like it hits all of us. "Oh God, I need a drink, of cool rain". This band went on to do the rock opera called Tommy. You should probably listen to that one also. Thank you sir. great selection even better honest reaction. Peace out.
Jimmy was quadrophenic, Not simply schizophrenic...just having fun with ya. My fav of "The Who's" and I agree with your review. I can hardly pick my favorite song they work so well together telling the story.

Your reaction is perfect, Twon: "ELECTRIFIED!" That's the only word for it. One of the all-time greatest songs, period. If you ever want to know why "old" Gen-Xers in their 40s and 50s say today's music doesn't match ours, just listen to a dozen of The Who's best songs. I'm not saying there aren't talented artists in 2020, but I almost never hear this level of pure genius.
Made me get up out of my seat to an 1987 concert in Boulder Colorado at the CU campus Rodger Daltrey belting it out "see me. feel me. touch me. heal me" so hard everybody got on their feet. I thought I got electrocuted for a second..😂 you enjoying the real deal bro. All heart
That bit at the start was the symphonic version of a storm. Pete Townsend genius. And the epic, epic vocal from Roger Daltry. His best! And how about that ending? Electrifying! Thanks for making it new for me!
The Who, of course, started way before LZ, since they were producing hits in the us in 1965/66 - 64 in the UK and Europe. They may be overlooked now, but I don't think they can ever be underrated. Just too good to be left out of any conversation when talking about top rock bands - of any era. They just continue into the 70's. LZ was a late starter - lol. At least compared to The Who, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones.
Gary R yeah true they started in the early 60s as Mods. The Stones,The Beatles and The Who. But they didn’t hit the nitro button until the 70s Then they were pulling the huge and wild crowds like Zeppelin. With the release of Who’s Next
Oooooo! You’ve got Rock and Rock in your SOUL! There is so much amazing music ahead of you! You’re on one of the most incredible journeys of your life!
I haven't heard that song since forever, and never sounding this good. And, as it was playing a thunderstorm moved over us here in northern NJ and eased off just as the song was ending. It was like there was another bass speaker coming in from above my head. Stereo in 3D.
This is such an epic song. From the subdued, yet sprinkled with tasty drums and piano chords intro, to the powerful, soaring vocals of Roger Dalltrey just crushing it throughout the song, to the amazing flow of the song and dramatic climax, this song checks all the boxes. Crazy good guitar, check...awesome drumming, check...blazing bass, yup...vocals, omg?! wtf!!! Awesome reaction. Thanks! If you want to check out a Who song that Pete Townsend sings lead on, try Eminence Front.
You should go back to the start of The Who, "My Generation", " Magic Bus" Then you can move on to "Baba O`Riley", "Won`t Get Fooled Again", "The Real Me", "5:15" , "Behind Blue Eyes". "The Song is Over". The drumming of Keith Moon, and the Bass of John Entwistle, are some of the best ever. Then you can have some fun with "Squeeze Box".
TWON!! 😂😭🤣 I knew you’d love it!! I also knew those powerful Roger Daltrey Vocals would kill it!!! 🎤🔥🔥 I love The Who! That was a classic reaction!! This just the tip of the iceberg in general!!! 😂👊🙌✊💯🔥😎 Goin 🚀🔝💯
Man - you see why rock and roll became our addiction and our religion??? The majesty and magic, the depth of performance and emotion, the power and vulnerability of the lyrics. I can never quantify how much The Who has brought to my life. I can't imagine what's coming with this generation of young black artists as they keep diving into The Who (I'm seeing a lot of these reaction videos LOVING The Who), and Rush, classic rock in general. Something completely new is gonna come out of that, and it will be wonderful.
Went to their concert last year, knowing not what to expect because they are getting on in years (aren’t we all). They had an orchestra on stage and every single song was breathtaking!!!
I heard this song for the first time back in the mid-seventies as a teenager. Now I'm an old man and the song still grips me the same. Definitely one of their best songs. Still love it in 2020.
This song by The Who ranks among Top 5 Rock songs of all time. Your reactions are classic, so much enthusiasm, wonder , energy, and awe in your emotions.
I love the way you reacted to Keith Moon hitting those skins.Keith was known to be the fasted by a quarter second. this tune he goes into beast mode. The WHO created tunes off of Keith. He is the lead sound.
You gotta see a live performance video. Any one will do. Just throw a dart. I guarantee Peter Townsend will blow you away. Had such a crush on Roger back in the day. Ooh that hair!
Epic reaction! Lol. Won’t be fooled again -Live Shepperton Studio’s is awesome they have a habit of breaking their instruments on stage lol Behind Blue Eyes is a great song. Many can’t miss with them, thanks man!
Kinda like working with Robin Williams back in the day. I understand they reshaped the entire "Aladdin" movie around his improvised lines for the Genie. And rightly so.
This song elicits an emotion inside of me much like when I listen to Marvin’s “What’s going on” and “Mercy Mercy Me”. All three of these songs are musical perfection into different genres.
This is a top 3 Who song. Unquestionably. I have it at 2 just because I love the chord progressions of Behind Blue Eyes so much that I can’t I can’t put this masterpiece ahead of it.
Bro, this was one of your best reactions so far. I really enjoyed watching how the music electrifies you and hits you right in the face. Music moves the human soul.
The Who were the band of choice, here in the UK, back in the day. Girls liked the Beatles, the Stones were OK, the Who were the business! The Who, The Stones, The Animals, Van Morrison and many more were seriously influenced by American R&B and Soul music. Soul was and still is my first love. I saw the Stax tour in the sixties, Otis Redding, Rufus Thomas, Carla Thomas, Ray Charles, Bob and Earl. Later the Supremes, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Robert Parker, Curtis Mayfield - the list goes on. Good days! There is now some really good music coming from the UK again. Keep an eye on it!
John Towne I disagree. You just cannot compare Thunder with Lightning. Moon was Neil Peart’s idol. Moon was pure spontaneity and Peart had time to develop a high level technique.
Brian shockledge Well, you do have a point there. That’s why in my opinion you can’t really compare two shockingly different drummers. To Peart, which I assume is the one you define as “robotic”, everything was about precision, he studied the drums and dedicated himself all his life. Moonie was dynamite. I adore both and just think comparisons are unfair. Preference is ok.
I wish I saw them live. I was 13 in 1970. I've been to many many concerts but missed The Who and Zeppelin....crushed. I grew up on Eastern Long Island and didn't like NYC much, polar opposite of where I lived. I was nervous about taking a train to Madison Square Garden so I missed a lot of amazing music.
I just ran across your video. Loved it! Also, Big Pete gets it right on the head ..... all four of those songs are awesome. And that's just the tip of the iceberg
The Who, my 2nd favorite band of all time behind only The Beatles. This is the final song in their double album Quadrophenia. And that is Keith Moon on those drums, my favorite drummer. Roger -Waters- Daltrey (the lead singer from The Who) has a song called Under A Raging Moon (which is also the name of the album it's on) that is an homage to Keith Moon and has such a perfect line about him: "And the wild man, he laid the thunder down"
Twon!! Ok I think this might officially be your best reaction to date!!! 🤣😂✊😭. You managed to “Sit Up” , You Played The Drums 🥁😂, I messaged you during the song, you had that “classic stank face” 😳, you jumped up, and were pumped up and *“NUMEROUS OTHER ONE LINERS”* 🤣😭✊🙌😎💯🔥
Something you need to know about this song. It's on a concept album called Quadrophenia which is written from the perspective of a 17 or 18 year old teenage boy that's battling the things in life that all teenagers had to deal with and overcome. But on the album, on the song previous to this, Jimmy (the main character) contemplated suicide as he guzzled a bottle of gin while sitting on a rock as the tide came up around him. But then he realized the most important thing in life is love. And then he allowed love to reign over him and it gave him a new perspective on life. To me, Love Reign O'er Me is the greatest song ever written. BTW, if you haven't done so yet, you should react to "Bargain" by The Who. It's equally as stunning as LROM!
For the most iconic scream in rock- you’ve gotta hear The Who’s “ Won’t Get Fooled Again”. You’ll probably recognize the intro from. one of the CSU shows.
Man...if you can listen to this one and not feel it, you are probably already dead. never gets old. there's a ton of great who stuff to check out. i'd recommend Eminence Front, A Quick one while he's away (the version from the rolling stone's Rock n Roll Circus is KILLER), I can see for Miles, The Real Me (some of the most ass-kicking bass playing you will find) and maybe check out some of the album Live at Leeds (the extended version)....many consider this one to be one of the greatest live rock albums ever. it is BALLS TO THE WALL.
Please lil brother, grab a couple of music minded friends, and listen to this entire album as loud as you can blast it! Shrooms would change your life if you add them to the menu. The greatest rock album ever composed...
the who were [to me] the first band that could have been considered punk in the early and mid 60's. their album from '67 called 'the who sell out' was the first one i bought at 14 years old that year. and just when you think that was their sound they slap you upside the head with something like this. there was nothing called a play list in those days - just vinyl and every body had the who. they went all over the map with their music. great days that will never return. just glad i can go back with the music !
You picked up on it! James Brown was a major influence on The Who and Roger Daltrey especially. The Who did cover some James Brown material before they started writing their own.
James Brown was very big in England. Believe me, Roger Daltry listened closely and then added his own little edge. The Brits loved American Blues. Him and Robert Plant sang with such emotion and depth that it seemed like either they singing or me listening were going to turn inside out.
Don't forget Rod Stewart. I'm not joking. In his youth, before sailing and the rest, Rod had the chops. Had the poise and the charisma. Don't believe me? There is actually a wonderful video of Rod singing acapella, in flats in Germany. Gasoline Alley. Give it a listen and then judge.
I absolutely LOVE watching the younger generation react to The Who. It brings me back to 45 years ago when I first discovered this masterful band.
I freaking love you man! Glad your mind is blown!
You should have seen this live in concert! Incredible!
The greatest song ever written. If this one doesn't give you goosebumps, you better check your pulse. MASTERPIECE

Yes. Song is incredible!! One of best ever… that type emotion rarely gets displayed in most songs- not to this level. Pure Mastery. TY.
I love The Who, especially Keith Moon, who was one of the greatest drummers of all damn time.
Roger Daltrey used to sing lots of James Brown covers in the early days of The Who in the 60s. Check out their first album - My Generation
Entire Quadrophenia album is great listen to it

There were certain things about being a baby boomer that were truly inspiring, and this is one of those things.
"Tommy" actually pre-dated "Quadrophenia."
Jimmy was quadrophenic, Not simply schizophrenic...just having fun with ya. My fav of "The Who's" and I agree with your review. I can hardly pick my favorite song they work so well together telling the story.
Quadrophenia became a movie too! It's not about a mentally ill individual though. It's about class/style groups in 1960s England and a young man's journey to figure out who he is.

“Baba O’Riley“, “Behind Blue Eyes“, “Won’t be fooled again“, “Who are who“ 🤔 Damn so many more just drawing a blank 🤦🏻♂️😂✊💯🔥🎸🎤

This is the kind of song that makes one LOVE music! Just a total total masterpiece! Nuff said.
I love this song Rodger Daltrey has a great voice and yes the who is a highly underrated band that is freaking awesome
patricia gass always considered The Who right up there with LED Zeppelin the two Super groups of the 70s.
I think there is a difference between underrated and overlooked. More the latter, in this case.
Yeah I agree with that
The Who, of course, started way before LZ, since they were producing hits in the us in 1965/66 - 64 in the UK and Europe. They may be overlooked now, but I don't think they can ever be underrated. This is my favorite reaction of all time.
Oooooo! You’ve got Rock and Rock in your SOUL! There is so much amazing music ahead of you! You’re on one of the most incredible journeys of your life!
Back in the '70s musicianship was taken way more seriously than it is these days.
The scene from Quadraphenia when this is used is just powerful.
Vader's Rage I see those chalk cliffs in my head every time I hear it.
@@1177kc ....as do I. It's been years since I've seen the film, but that whole scene is burned into my memory.

I’ve been listening to both James Brown and The Who for 40 years and I never thought about the similarities. Now it seems so obvious. Great insight.

For a Pete song I'd recommend However Much I Booze on the Who By Numbers album. So much feeling from Pete!!
One of the greatest vocal performances ever!
True....
You should go back to the start of The Who, "My Generation", " Magic Bus" Then you can move on to "Baba O`Riley",
"Won`t Get Fooled Again", "The Real Me", "5:15" , "Behind Blue Eyes". "The Song is Over". The drumming of Keith Moon,
and the Bass of John Entwistle, are some of the best ever. Then you can have some fun with "Squeeze Box".
Just a musical masterpiece
One of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Thank you Pete Townsend for giving it life and Roger Daltrey for giving it soul.

Keith Moon once blew up his drumset during a live performance and the rest of the band didn't know it was coming .
Pete Townsend said in an interview. We just let Keith do a drum solo and we add the other music

That drummer you obviously appreciate was probably the most talented and beloved lunatic musican the UK ever produced.
This is one of my favorite songs of The Who- and they have many great songs
Thank you Twon! That song is so powerful! Awesome reaction! You get it!
I just ran across your video. Loved it! Also, Big Pete gets it right on the head ..... all four of those songs are awesome. And that's just the tip of the iceberg
One of my favs from the who...and one of first one's I'd heard ....lol
The Who, my 2nd favorite band of all time behind only The Beatles. This is the final song in their double album Quadrophenia. And that is Keith Moon on those drums, my favorite drummer. Roger -Waters- Daltrey (the lead singer from The Who) has a song called Under A Raging Moon (which is also the name of the album it's on) that is an homage to Keith Moon and has such a perfect line about him: "And the wild man, he laid the thunder down"
Roger Daltrey - singer (Roger Waters is Pink Floyd)
@@Johnny67557 D'oh! You're absolutely correct! I'll go hang my head in shame for a moment.
"Who's Next" is one of rock's most iconic albums in my mind.
Super group of the 70s
Very cool observation about Roger sounding like James Brown, since he was Roger’s idol and The Who covered a bunch of his stuff in their early days!
You're going to love The Who.
Try their Rock N' Roll Cirxus version of A Quick One.
Could be the best TV performance in Rock history.
😂😂‼️‼️‼️❤️
Lmfao 😂😂✊❤️👊💪🙌 CLASSIC!!!! 😂🤦🏻♂️
This has to be one of my favs from The Who. I love the energy we can hear in his voice
you just can't beat those band it doesn't matter what your into they are f.....g incredible
ohhh you soooo not ready for this bro, gonna be fun to watch we are here for You!
Hahahaha! I had this big smile on my face waiting for you to hear! 😂❤️
Can't hate THAT!
Keep in mind this is the ending to an hour and a half double album too , that's why the end drums are sooo epic
one of my all time faves, love yer passion lad, good on ya mate
"He made me get out ma seat!!"
Perfect response to this song :)
The whole album is great.
The Who has some powerful awesome songs. Thx for the reaction! Love how you get in to it 💖
the who were [to me] the first band that could have been considered punk in the early and mid 60's. their album from '67 called 'the who sell out' was the first one i bought at 14 years old that year. and just when you think that was their sound they slap you upside the head with something like this. there was nothing called a play list in those days - just vinyl and every body had the who. they went all over the map with their music. great days that will never return. just glad i can go back with the music !
I've seen The Who twice and this was my favorite song! 💞✌
this was so much fun to watch!!
You are great. Love the way you get into this great tune!
You picked up on it! James Brown was a major influence on The Who and Roger Daltrey especially. The Who did cover some James Brown material before they started writing their own.
#NoLimitNation 💯🔥 Thanks Twon!! Love this one!!
Imagine hearing this in high school....when it first came out...oh we been down the road~ So glad You enjoy and share! keep on !
James Brown was very big in England. Believe me, Roger Daltry listened closely
and then added his own little edge. The Brits loved American Blues.
Him and Robert Plant sang with such emotion and depth that it seemed like
either they singing or me listening were going to turn inside out.
@@ddelaney712 You don't have to convince me. Rod's version of " I'm Losin You" with Faces is one of my favorites.
