I came across this video today, 12/4/2018. Melody, you were creating 'messy canvas' long before messy canvas was a thing! I love your videos, old and new!!!
Tip. Put a very light coat of spray adhesive on the contact paper before you transfer to the canvas. Let it dry and THEN transfer contact paper onto the canvas. It won’t hurt the canvas or leave a residue and will also prevent the paint from bleeding underneath the stencil.
You always make things look so stinkin' easy! I will say, practice is what makes things easy. I've been doing a lot more with my explore. I'm in love with that machine.
Melody, I use the repositionable contact paper as transfer tape. It does awesome on vinyl. I'm not sure how well it would do when sticking it to contact paper.
I'd like to try this, if I go to my camera store with a picture what do I ask for or to tell them what i need. This is a great technique and looks like it can be doable. Thanks again Melody.
Hi Melody...when you were weeding this, how did you know what to weed out? Did you make a negative of this image in DS and then weed it out? Sorry, its a tad confusing to me. Thanks in advance for your reply and for all your videos!
Very good video. I have question, when making stencil with letters (subway art) do you have to do something different so all the writing (letters) come with or the detail (those letters with designs like little heart inside the letter and stuff like that? Hope my question make sense. Thank you in advance!!!
Did you ever try using freezer paper with the wax side down? It works great with fabric better than vinyl in my opinion. If you're afraid to use a iron on canvas I'm sure a heat gun would work fine!
Hello Melody! Love the video.. would you be able to show us how to make a Stencil of a person as well? Would love to spray paint their image on various materials!
So I did the calibration on the print out of my sketch. Now I can't seem to get past that part. As long as I put the paper print out on the mat, it will print it out. When I put vinyl or anything else, it keeps saying that it can't detect sensors. What am I doing wrong?
Hello Melody! I'm hoping you will be able to help me with a situation I'm having trying to create a project similar as the one in the video. What I'm trying to do: The image that I created I just want to print on regular/(cardstock) paper however when I print the image is not reflecting on the whole paper like I thought it would. is there a way I can make this happen? Also design space is telling me that the picture is to big. I'm not sure what I need to do. If you can please help. I would really appreciate
Can you please tell us how to do the actual picture...newbie here....My ather passed away would love to put hid=s photo on a glass block and give it to my sister for christmas....Thanks

beautiful and very sweet. i'm sure my niece would absolutely go nuts for a painting of her like this (if i had the skills which i don't!)
Spray painting is another good way to paint stencils w/o getting any paint under the stencil - and it's fast!
I love this tutorial! I would love to do this I can not find another company to print the stencils? Would you know another sight?
Love it! I will be trying this!
