To explain why India is so high, the study says:
3% Gay/lesbian/homosexual
9% Bisexual
1% Omnisexual/pansexual
2% Asexual
2% Other
Also the survey is about sexual orientation, not lgbtq+, cause there are no trans.Don't forget that every survey has its own limits, but also dont think you know everything and try to discredit serious studies just on the basis on your own assumptions
About 130 MILLION bisexual Indians sounds like a stretch no matter how you reason it out. Given the vast majority of Indians are Hindus, I'd attribute such statistics to more fluid understanding of sexuality (based on Hinduism understanding of the "third gender" from my preliminary research), so trying to attribute such a thing to the more westernised understanding of LGBTQ+ labels seems...unmeasured to say the least.
@@placeholder6974 Also keep in mind thats its a percentage, of course when you say 130 million it seems huge, and its actually not 9% of India, its 9% of the fraction of the 19, 069 aged 16-74 people that were indian, and it is said that for India (along with other countries), people asked might be more urban and have higher education than the country average. Also, if being bisexual was part of their religion, why would there only be 9%? I think being bisexual is pretty clear, and dont see why they would misinterpret being bisexual, or why they would have a different version of such a clear word. And independently from the fact that their vision of bisexuality doesn't join the western LGBTQ's vision of it, don't mean they are not bisexual.
