    Yes, the 50mm can be a bit soft. At first I thought the lens was having some front- or back-focusing issues, but after doing some tests, I knew, it was just that the lens tends to be a bit soft. I still think this lens is awesome as a run-and-gun/light-travel lens. Atm I own the R6 with the RF 15-35, the RF 70-200 and I use the 50 1.8 to close the gap. In the wide range and the tele range the 2.8 are more than enough and the only range I would need a faster lens is the standard zoom range. I am saving up for the RF 28-70, but that will take some time, and during that time the 50 1.8 will suffice.

    • @DanielWhiteWithCanon
      @DanielWhiteWithCanon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh yea the 50mm is by far the easiest lens to work with all others are beasts. I have stopped shooting wide open all the time so it gets sharp at around 2.8 and up.

    I just got the 50mm. After using it on the gimbal and run and gun. I have come to the conclusion it is a little soft and not wide enough. The bokeh are is not butter its just blurry. It does shoot a good main subject around at f/4. I mainly want a RF lens that's fast and light for video for my gimbal. I also didn't think the IBIS alone was enough to stop hand held camera shake. Will try the RF 35mm in the 500 variety. Canon should really rethink their pricing from prime lens . Esp. for people that own over 10K in EF lens. Also would keep people buying glass from Nippon and not the CCP.

    • @DanielWhiteWithCanon
      @DanielWhiteWithCanon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I like what you said about the bokeh burry not buttery. I have been looking for a way to articulate that exact feeling while shooting with the 50 1.8.

    Great comparison. I see you mentioned you also like the 100mm 2.8 macro. Do you recommend that one over the new RF 85 macro F2 for photography? I’m in between which of those to get for portraits and macro photos.

      @DanielWhiteWithCanon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi hectrhurt the EF 100mm 2.8 macro L is amazing. I haven’t used the rf 85 yet but from what I have seen the 100 is the better lens. And I can’t remember off the top of my head if the 85 is a true macro. Anyways the 100 is a great second hand option they can be had for around 500-600 dollars which is a steal.
