TL:DR: Achillo isn't as badly nerfed as i feared, but i still do not support nerfing something for the express purpose of forcing a packing playstyle on it and solo players in general need some love from the devs

The issue is, it did need some of those nerfs genuinely because it was out performing some of the other mid-tiers which made playing those other dinosaurs relatively....pointless(?) Meta wise I guess. For the longest time, Cerato was king or well known for taking things on bigger then itself and was the best mid-tier to boot before Achillo was added to the game (?). The main issue is they stated it was to encourage group play which shouldn't have been the reason why it was nerfed. It should be nerfed because when it was in its prime, it was strong IN groups. It was fine for solo play and was strong to fend itself but in doing so, made it too strong in groups over pairs of 2. At the time, mob boss wasnt really worth even building into and you were better off with your own kind or with others. Now by nerfing it more, sure it's harder for solo players to survive but it's more balanced for group play and yes, not everyone wants to be in groups but just like with any other video game that has multiplayer (dead by daylight, evolve, any other game where there is groups of people working together) groups will ALWAYS be the center focus by developers (majority of the time). As much as it sucks they're nerfing it hard to the point solo is a struggle, it is more then likely is to nerf it for the group aspect strength of the dinosaur then anything else. Do I think the amount of nerfs it got was fair? Not entirely but it just simply means you have to work harder for your kills (become sweaty or a try hard to put it more bluntly). Hopefully any of this makes sense as I rarely make posts but I felt the need to say something in regards to the rant which ties into this video as well. I love Achillobator and mained it for a long time but it's not what it use to be and I cant even play it half the time unless I want to get mauled by packs of Utahraptors which is a different can of worms in itself.
I personally wish the game’s combat played more like an MMA game. I don’t like running in circles to fight. I really feel like they could push into a difference of attack style across the diet divide and serve both the RPers and the PvPers. Herbies should be geared towards staggers, knockdowns, and bone-breaks. Carnies should be geared towards attacks that actually hold onto the prey/opponent. Herbies want the threat to go away, Carnies want to keep the prey close. That would lean into the team-like mechanics, but within the dietary divide. And at the same time it would naturally facilitate more life-like struggles.
@@ghostie8963just nerf the group abilities to make it not op in groups simple especially now that the smaller raptors are much stronger deinon can stay on dinos for a long time now and raptor strike’s is better than ever so its op with the small raptors still and they want that and you should never force a gameplay style makes people lose interest
I hear you on attack nerfs Jynn. My solo carnivore of choice, Dasp, had the heavy bite go from 120 and 5 second cooldown to 90 damage and a 10 second cooldown
@@Nachtkalmar I main it aswell, imo its pretty bad and only really good at ambushing. I run the crushing bite to ambush, only switch to the one where you do 100 damage regardless of weight/armor when fighting an ano. Its nice to just crawl around and ambush but with the footsteps being so quiet its gotten worse and ambushing highly depends on prey just not being aware enough. Getting caught in the open by a pack of small/medium tiers is a death sentence
Achillo was a really fun lrg sized Dino hunter, then is slowly just got to the point that anything medium can out run and out stam it it seems. Idk, it just feels like it survivability dropped
Heyo Jynn! I highly suggest you rerun the metri fight, with the metri maining its claw attack instead of its bite. As of currently, the claw attack does 30dmg for a (1,1s) and bite only does 20dmg with a (0,5s)! Which can make a huge difference when fighting, just wanted to make you aware of this before you start stalking the metri population. This video also made me really want to try out achillo, it seems enjoyable!
I’m really glad someone commented this so I didn’t have to haha. I’ve beaten so many Achillos as Metri by literally just face tanking them with claw attacks, so when I watched that fight I was like, uhh, no 😂 Also for the record, I don’t consider myself particularly good at pvp, I’m probably not much better than the average player, but knowing Dino stats is extremely helpful for combat.
Also @FarooProductions, is Metri’s bite speed really more than twice as fast as the claw attack speed? Because if that’s true it would have higher DPS, which it very much doesn’t feel like in combat. If I had to guess I’d say the bite attack had something like a 0.8 second attack speed or something, but I could absolutely be wrong of course. Just curious

Because I’m currently on metri and his bite is nowhere near twice as fast as his claw, it’s maybe 25% faster at most. So whatever the stat sheet says, they may need to change it lol. Again, not trying to be contradictory on purpose, just trying to understand and help others understand 🤷♂️😂
@JynnGaming That is true raptors in general are well suited for that area. My main curiosity is for critter spawns to maintain hunger. I've waited till half hunger in Steggo Mountain a few times and found it not difficult to get full I've been activly ignoring burrows and players deaths to focus only on passive critter spawns.
Idk what server she plays on but she had a good point in that video lots of nerfs wanting the community to play in groups lol sometimes we like our me time but I haven't touched officials in awhile it's just boring right now but she seems fun to play with long as she doesn't try to kill me
Do you recommend reg bite over raptor strikes? I jnow this video is a month old but i feel like the attack speed from raptors is soo much faster and they also made the timer alot longer to keep your stack up aswell. Beside the bite it seems we run the same build, besides i run acceleration to get away from the stomps because stomp dose crazy damage
i've been using Raptor strikes lately myself, and it seems nice now that they extended how long you have before the bite expires. It's really good for killing crittters too
Is there a reason why you dont use raptor strikes? It recently got buffed so each stack lasts 30 seconds so its easy to keep your stacks and damage high
mostly because i just haven't tried it out yet. Raptor Strikes used to be really difficult to keep stacked on your target, if you were hunting small and fast things
Big boy Raptors still probably one of the strongest mid tears other from Strack he’s able to kill every other med if you know what you’re doing, and you’re not spamming kicks, which don’t do much damage also make sure you lies your jump. in order to get behind your opponent
This is so sad to see, they did achillo so dirty. First it was sarc then meg then hatz and now they finally finished me off playing at all let alone solo with the death of achillo on top of the stupidest sound nerf and diet changes. I actually thought id give the ocean dinos a go to try and salvage something from this game and it just became the final nail in the games coffin for me lol honestly at the rate they are killing their own game it wont make it out of beta due to their own ignorance and they will deserve it.

Achillo definitely feels like what could be a mix of a solo predator and a pack hunter which would fit its playstyle well

Gonna take my Achillo for a spin in the dry part of the map Hoodoo and Ripple etc. and see how sticking to those areas feels solo

hmm i'm not sure. Raptor strikes sounds good on paper, but it can be really hard to keep the stack going, especially on faster prey
