@g0phuckyourself Yes it is. I'm not here to get into an argument about semantics with you. Both pleasure and solace are found in anger. As I said.
You say it's self-destructive, then you say it's productive. Sadness can be productive. An alternative to anger is regulating your breathing.
Would a useful motivator bring pleasure as a reward?

    • @CJ0101
      @CJ0101 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@g0phuckyourself Anger releases endorphins. Does just getting shit done not bring with it pleasure? You said before that anger gets shit done. But sadness doesn't? Anger doesn't always have to involve losing one's patience. And anyway, maybe that made it more valuable.

Focus on gratitude. You are a powerful source of energy. When you do this, you will get what you want because you are in alignment and focusing on all you have instead of a lack. My Dad served his country too. He said one of the best ways to heal is not only to stop eating processed sugar and other processed foods will heal many things, period. Exercise as best as you can manage. Eat right. Be judicious in how you take meats--just what you need to be healthy, not more, ideally.
More important than all this: love everyone and hold no grudges. None. Be at peace with all. And love every bit of youself from infancy, childhood, adolescence, teen years, and so on till the present moment and forward---and love every bit of everyone else too---not that loving the behaviours of others is required, but love every bit of everyone themselves. My Dad always says, "why get mad at a dog shitting in his backyard? We love the dog anyway, don't we? Do we get mad that dogs are dogs? People are like dogs, they shit in their own backyard and don't know any better---even if they say they do. Love those shitty people, they're just like dogs. So, love them anyway!"
As I said, my Dad says this all the time. Forgive all, even when it's seemingly irrational and seemingly impossible. It will take lots harmful energy out and even the temporal-body will be thankful for this and healing will happen.
I'm a teenager, but I like to quote my Dad; my Dad said: "Harm no one, not even yourself. Serve others 99% percent of the time, yourself 1% of the time or less. Pray a lot, even if it is simply in written format. Feel love for all in your mind, in your communications with others, in your actions, and in your emotions."
Brother, I hope all that I said above brings you joy and healing! :-D

I just learned about stoicism since about a week ago and i realise that i am fully stoic by nature. Altough with my own twist obviously. i think that studying a specific 'way of life' will harm you more than help you. Use multiple ways of thinking and combine them into your own way of life. A bit of bhudda, stoicism, spiritualism, realism, atheist, religious.. however, my way of thinking leans mostly toward stoicism then anything else. Nice video! Very interresting

I appreciate God for Stoicism and how he has made me discover it and manage my life with it. I confront issues with humour and smile, i do not seek to get angry because i find it to be a reflection of my own clownery and it also isn't worth ruining my peace of mind. Anger is the enemy and should not be taken seriously. A deep breath time to time(or just Meditation) can help replace venting anger in a more calm matter.
Remember, your Tranquility is the Utmost Priority, leave to "God" what you can't control, seek and strive to control what you can and worry yourself needless bcs anxiety yields no positive result.

I'm 18 years old and I've been practicing stoicism daily for the last two weeks straight, I find that it becomes second nature to fall into the stoic perception the more you get into it. My life has been significantly more beautiful since I have more knowledge of myself & the manner of life around me than ever before. Several high stress events were quite menial in my mind as they came and went, and I find even physical pain can be lessened with strong training of the human mind. if one persists and disciplines themself everyday they have the power to shape their own brain, I hope that everyone in this comment section can find that. We all deserve to be accepting of our world, and it is what the planet desperately needs in the present day. Thank you for this video ❤

The part about your mother, who had a stroke and couldn't swallow anymore without fear of aspiration, just made me do a double take.
That it made you think about doing something as simple as how nice it is to swallow a gulp if water when thirsty, it brought tears to my eyes to know that there are people out there that understand.
My ex partner poured a caustic acid down my throat in july 2018, which melted my oesophagus. After coming out of the medically induced coma I was put in, I remember how thirsty I was., I remember when I was allowed to take small sips of water, which I couldn't swallow.
Being in ITU at the time, I didnt realise just how badly my insides where damaged. Added to the fact that the doctors, nurses and my poor , poor mother, hadn't told me what had happened. For my own benefit.
I havent had solid food since then, I try to explain to people what a beautifully agonizing torture it is to be so thirsty and hungry whilst not being able to physically get anything down me.
So, instead,as someone who loves to cook,I feed other people in order to enjoy food vicariously.. also become a master of soups!
Since then , I have had 3 esophageal dilatations( stretching my throat from the inside) and a feeding RIG inserted into my stomach in order to get sufficient nutrients into me as I nealry died from starvation since then.
    Before my "accident " I was 89kg by March 2019 I was 32kg.
I am now 68kg and slowly getting better. I've found peace with not being able to eat solids, most likely ever again, unless I have an esophageal replacement ( which I'm not prepared to go through with)
The ice cube discovery was amazing ... I froze strawberry milk or anything else yummy and sweet so I could suckle on it without the doctors and nurses going nuts.
Going through this is what has made me think a lot more about life and motivated me to get back into philosophy.
Tell your mum she isn't alone.
Also, thank you for giving me a platform to vent. 😊❤

I can't believe this... I've been an advanced Stoic Practitioner for the last year without realizing I was doing it.
It's a long story and explained in my videos but I've been fighting depression, anxiety, ptsd, and ocd on different levels and stages throughout my life. I took it from David Goggins but he basically says the key to happiness is being comfortable with being uncomfortable. To do something every day that is uncomfortable. As of this last year, my feet are calloused, I'll sit outside in the cold half naked. And to top it all off, I'm starting the perfect job for a Stoic. Diving in the Pacific Ocean for clams. In the middle of winter. Off the Oregon Coast. Happy I found this. Thank you so much for the time you spent making this.

The laughter thing got me! I’ve ALWAYS been the person to laugh when ppl tried to get a rise out of me or sneak diss me! When my car got towed for expired insurance & had to pay almost $1000 to recover it, police gave me a ride to the train station, I laughed at the whole thing in the back seat on their car & even took a vid for later reminder/negative imagery! Life is a movie man & I always remember how I still have another day to live & that simply makes me feel better! Maybe some of us saw the toxic cycle of life acting-becoming a victim-we acting, and realized that the middle state (which is usually the longest & POINTLESS) is a waist & decided to remove it! Life acts-we act! Stay bliss 💚

I love this! I identify so much with the self deprecating humor. I practice this already even though I just now became aware of Stoicism. It's the best way to disarm an insult. By insulting yourself far better than they could have. To me it just makes their insult seem inadequate, and it's hilarious. It makes them think "damn it, why didn't I say that instead?"

Listening to this video made me realize that I have most of these same behaviors and humours about myself. I already had great admiration for the great stoïcs of antiquity, like Marcus Aurelius, but I discover today that I already am a stoic, a taoist and a marketing guy in my own way. Marketing and sales was always a way for me to create opportunities for human contacts and see the world. In my own way, I was always chasing synchronicity, without caring too much about it. I was in the Canadian Navy for 6 years, from 1981 to 1987 and it made me discover that I could remain myself, deep inside me, while adapting to almost anything and not be affected by it. My best dreams are when I sleep in strange beds in far away hotels or when I fall asleep on an uncomfortable couch. I often cry tears of joy or of fascination, but never about death or terrible deseases or accidents. I find that courage occurs when one is stoic about taking tough decisions and doing the right thing. I find that ''Life'' as a whole is already one big miracle and that there is no reason to expect any other small miracle within it. In other words, everything should be seen as perfect as a whole and so are we, as for our role in this world. The beauty of life is found in the harmony and equilibrium of Nature, human life being an integral part of it. Note: I still have to understand what Nietzsche disliked about stoicism. universalminds.co.uk/how-and-why-nietzsche-despised-and-hated-stoicism/

I really love the screen image you chose to display for this audio. As i listen to the audio, i'm gazing at the picture of this street, allowing my imagination to add subtle movements of the flag, or gentle breeze through the tree leaves, i imagine hearing the tune of the street performer, suddenly the street lamp glows a little brighter and I begin to notice the foreign flag. And the end of the street, the bottom of the hill i notice the water, and there's a ship. But what are those boxy things in the water? Barges? Pylons? Oh! They are the legs of a bridge!!! Oh yes, I see it now! Is that the Brooklyn bridge? I think so... if it is, I think I have walked on that street, or one nearby.... suddenly I'm inside that painting, in that time period. I can feel the roughness of the wool coat, the heaviness of my rubber boots, the chill of the evening mist.... i realize that I havent hear the audio at all and will have to restart the audio.... i will need to find this painting, and maybe hang it in a waiting room...

Watching this now is making me realise i already strongly follow stoic thoughts. I’m very happy with what i have even though i’ve lived a tough life, i don’t have a lot of money but i have love and it’s all i really want. Also a Mini cooper S, just because of the endless thrill i get from driving one. Is that materialistic? I don’t think so, it gives me excitement whenever i drive and not because of what other people think, but because it’s fucking fast and i love feeling mortal. The orgasmic sound as it purrs when i slowly press my foot down, feeling like every MPH i go up in, the higher the likelihood of my life ending. The raw power i hold in my hands makes me happy. BRRRRRRRRRR CCCCHH BRRRRRRR
The moral of my comment is that if you find something passionate, even if for most it seems materialistic, then you should fight to get it. If you have something because it’s expensive and you want people to know you have it, then you’re undoubtedly materialistic.
