- Raiden (Arcade) All Bosses (No Damage). It is a vertical scrolling shoot 'em up released in September 1990 by Seibu Kaihatsu for Arcades. It is the first installment in the Raiden series and Seibu Kaihatsu's first major hit.

Imagine a scenario where the two Raidens (The one from Mortal Kombat and the ine from Metal Gear) play this game and talk about a Transformer train combiner giant, also named Raiden.
They would also play virtual ON, and both of them would play Raiden

I remember reading an interview mentioning that Raiden was, despite being technically rushed and on a tight budget, paid attention to such small details, such as the flash on explosions.

Always loved the Raiden games. Pure, awesome, non-bullet hell shmup bliss.
It get's awfully close to being a bullet hell near the end here though. Some of those patterns are brutal for a game from 1990

Is there any reason for avoiding power-ups intentionally?
He does that so that he can fight the bosses for a longer time.... For showing us all the boss transformations and bullet patterns while being absolutely Awesome..

Land Crown on the SNES version was the lamest shmup boss I've ever faced. Should be called, "Do you even care?"

Sooo.... Raiden II is to a good extent a remake of Raiden I.... And Raiden X is a remake of Raiden II.....

That explains the missed out details, like the plasma whip charging , wing sway and absence of VTOL jet animation when fighting standing bosses.
