I've had nothing but book failures lately so seeing your shelves and which covers look good while you say if you liked it or not was great to give inspiration to find something hopefully good! Also, I started thinking about your door being all the way open and it's made me realize I've lived three places and never once had a door that even had the option of opening all the way like that. I'd rather have the shelves but whatever works best for you!

I put my big mirror where the door opens so if the door is open all the way i can't see it but when the door is closed its not a blank space
