    Just fitted a 2m x 1m lantern today. All pretty straightforward and am pleased with it. Time will tell I guess.

    Installed a 1m x 1.5m today, so easy to install, even with all the packaging one part was scratched and a clip damaged on the hip, bit of double sided tape fixed it, very happy with it.

    Ive looked on the fitting gude and it shows a 6mm overhang all around the finish membrane. I've also watched every video on TH-cam demonstrating the korniche install and everyone takes them flush with the upstand. Im not saying everyone has installed them wrong but ive decided to go with the 6mm overhang as shown by korniche

    Advice for anyone installing an upstand: make sure the corners are a perfect right-angle. Use a square or laser level to check this.
    My roofer built an upstand that looked great to the naked eye but actually wasn't fully square on the corners. Even the lantern surveyor didn't spot this. When it came to installing, the lantern wouldn't sit properly, which has now delayed everything. The lantern has to be removed so the roofer can correct the upstand, and then we'll have to attempt the lantern install again.

    It seems like there's no overhang for a drip edge?
    The base is sitting in 10mm or so .
    This doesn't seem correct for me and I believe the manufacturer said there's meant to be 6 mm drip edge?🤔

    Under the new part “L” of the building regs, windows have got to be double or treble glazed, the glass from what I can see, isn’t double glazed, so does this products glass conform with the new Part “L” of the building regs. I have asked the company but got no reply.

    Seemed a good product and ordered on on the strength of this video. Unfortunately although well packaged on the outside to prevent damage. not the same can be said of the inside and my eaves beams are scratched where bits of machining swarf have not been cleaned off properly and were trapped between the two components causing the scratches. No doubt I could return them, but that will delay my build even further, with no guarantee that the replacement parts would be any different. Ideally the components need to be cleaned properly prior to packaging and wrapped individually before bundling together. I do not have the time to get the parts replaced, requiring me to have more time off work to accept delivery once again, so I am getting some touch up paint to try and disguise the scratches, but it is a shame that what seems to be a good product is spoilt by poor packaging and something that could easily be prevented. I will see how installation goes next week.

    Frankly mine wasn’t engined to quite the same standard! The holes for the bottom row of cable ties were drilled through the end of the profiles rendering the cable ties useless. Made it much harder to get the thing square as only the upper cable ties were doing anything. Have to say I’m disappointed. A proper QA check should have noticed. Made for Trade need to up their game.

    Actually scrap that the info is on the link posted by someone and to the guy going on about it being 69mm or whatever , the info suggests that's the minimum so you could do it out of 3x2 or 4x2 do 3 pieces wide its a solid near enough 150mm upstand and no need for ply

    Hello, if the roof is 3000 x 2000 how many pieces of glasses should be? Could be 4? Or should be more than 4 to keep it safe.

    • @Carl-yu6uw
      @Carl-yu6uw 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can say from experience that the glass panels at 2.6m long and 34kg weight do exhibit quite a lot of flexibility as they taper to corner points, and so it can be harder and a bit nerve-wracking to fit the straight, rigid aluminium glazing bar to these..In future I'd go for intermediate rafters on the frame to keep the glazed units size more maneable.

    When ordering the size of your lantern should you measure the out side edge of the raised beam in order to you to order correct size? For example if my outside edge was 2000mm x 3000mm do I order a matching korniche lantern. Hope this makes sense.

      @@stuartholding4525 ive seen the spec and korniche require the frame upstand to be 69mm , how can i build a frame that size is 3x2 timber with the ply / osb on outside..
      If it is say 90mm and you sit the lantern on the outside edge, what happens with the finish on the inside with the extra gap of timber that the frame doesnt cover?
      I know you can plasterboard the side but the top part where frame sits , would look rubbish

    • @stuartholding4525
      @stuartholding4525 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@baconsarneybroonsauce6913 the reason it has to be outside edge is because it makes fitment easier, I discovered this when fitting my 3x2 lantern, and due to building regs for my roof this seemed impossible, in the end I bought some 3x2 lengths and screwed them down matching the base of the lantern then had to lead flash and sat the lantern on this. This then made inside look right.They are a good lantern but this is an issue they have overlooked !
