I don't normally comment but the standard of the job was nothing short of perfection. Well done and I have subscribed as well. I will be doing this on my new garage roof soon and I will be coming back to this video and asking 100 questions too. Again, well done.
The steam loco just passing by is the Flying Scotsman, No. 60103, ( I got the no by stopping the video), I am really enjoying the project keep up the good work - Thanks!
I fit GRP roofs in suffolk. Little tip. Of you use your roller as a trowel and put the top coat down thick it self levels leaving a beautiful finish first time👍
Just a bit of advice from a grp flat roof specialist, you should never double apply the top coat unless 1st coat has only been on less than 24hours. Can pretty much guarantee that topcoat will crack in acouple of years
Great job guys! Permanent no opening window is a nightmare... It looks nice but you can’t open it and we getting lots of bugs and spiders there, stick in one place :( Anybody who likes skylights remember get a one you can open 👍
Yes indeed. 👊😎 Been looking forward to this all week Stu. I’ve been painting the outside of a house this week. If I wasn’t getting burnt to a crisp. I was getting soaked. Me neck is mahogany. And my face is white! I was using one of them old school steel H frame scaffolds. Vintage heavy bastards. It’s been like doing PE in an oven. Thanks Stu. Boss job that. Get an impact driver for them big Screws. Best thing in the world them. It won’t frig your elbow up. As it rocks back and forth until it’s in. . Rather than just go full power and twist your arm off. Some fucker nicked mine last week. 😫
Love the videos inspired me to build my own extension current constructing the flat roof and would appreciate some more info regarding the flat roof windows 👍
Is the train from the northern historic line? Rawtenstall to heywood? They run steam trains on that line on a weekly basis. I see them all the time. They even do Thomas the tank engine days for people with children for a day out, worth a visit for anyone with young children who love trains, highly recommended 👌😉 bit off subject hey useless info for anyone that interested lol
Just watched almost all your video's stu. Love your work, I'm buying a new house and need new roof but it's in God's county.... Yorkshire!! Only joking, keep up the good work 👍
Hi STU, great video. We are going to do the GRP fibre glass roof on our garage. Can you please share the names of the products, you used. It seems that you didn't leave any gap between the osb board and wall. So is it not required if using osb t & g board. PS: I have been suggested using ply and Cure It resin. I saw your comment that why ply isn't advised, so we will go with OSB 3 T&G boards. If you can share the name of the Resin, Topcoat and Catalyst, that would be great. Cheers
Im sure that windows like that require to have angle up stand as size of that window will bend in middle and water will be trap there, its says in instructions
Hi can you get these sort of windows for a pitched roof as we are having a extension built would look great instead of velux windows keep up the good work lad's
The glass should only be sealed around the outer edge of the frame and glass. I just fitted two by same manufacturer and they said do not bed the glass on silicone. Maybe the spec has changed since you fitted yours.
@@Stucrompton1 That's the torque setting kicking in i'd imagine so he doesn't drive the screws in too far when putting quite a bit of pressure on the drill!
Hiya stu great video pal as always and hear you regarding your brick saw and the gaurd. However take the gloves off pal. That's the real risk there. Hope you don't see this as criticism. Cheers pal
Also if you would have put vertical studs from bottom of roof to lantern you could of insulated all the way to glass and wouldn't have a 4ich cold spot and it would of held the vapour barrier all the way to the top
Hello Stu. I plan to have a flat roof on my conservatory the size is 6m x 4m. What size roof lanterns should I put and how many and price please. Thanks man love yr videos
Nice parapet roof Stu! Although personally I’d use ply to cover the roof not OSB. In years to come when you get a leak the OSB will just break up with water damage. Ply is far more resilient. Just my opinion. Extension is looking cracking though Stu 👍🏼 love them roof lights.
Great job Stu. How tall is the ceiling ? I’m getting a similar 5m extension done and mine is 2.4m in ceiling height. Which I’m a bit disappointed with given rest of my house is 2.6m
Might sound like a stupid question but isn't there meant to be an air gap above the insulation to let any moisture out and stop the OSB just going mouldy? Genuine question and not having a pop

Kcs polishing skills are on another level, the glass is like a mirror
Wow !!! Love the glass, it's all looking fantastic a proper, proper job indeed 👍 you guys have been working hard, brilliant job.

Yeah a couple of people have said, is it rare to see that train Robert?
Stumbled upon this while researching. As an architecture student, this was very instructive, entertaining and enjoyable to watch. Cheers!
Can tell he’s a top class joiner

Lovely job Stu,you get stuck in with a bit of everything,Like my dad.
Quality craftsmanship. ...lovely to see trades who care 😀

If I GRP my roof and want to apply a 2nd coat of fibre before topcoat how long is idea to wait begore 2nd layer? Thx
Thank you very much for the shot of the train that was incredible
Impressive
Those windows look great and look fairly simple to install 👍
That thing is built like a brick 💩 house!!! Nicely done Stu!💥👊🏻😎 It turned out amazing man!🔥🤟🏻
top job Stu and the other guys
Superb as always 👍🏻
I can't qait to see it completed, those sky lights are awesome! great work as usual KC, Stu, and the rest of the crew.
Looking cool thanks sherry
You’ve changed ya opening tune that was a belter of a song ! Oh well another top tune and top job
Suggestions for an opening song, belter by Gerry cinnamon quality song 👌
“Superb” is the word
Hi Stu, I think that was the Flying Scotsman! Great job by the way
yup, 60103 is the Flying Scotman! Not just any train!
Great job ,looks amazing
Loved the sky light 😉
Bobby dazzler stu.really like the roof light glass.well done stu KC and lee 😁👍🏻
Cheers mate
The random steam train was The Flying Scotsman Stu, most famous steam engine in the world.
Wow well glad I caught it then 😁

Stu, most videos screw the upstands to the joists, but this method looks better to prevent thermal bridging.
top work man looking forward to see the end product enjoyed the video
could you let me know on where to get these glass windows from please

very smart indeed. Great work.
Looks good but why are they level? Surely should have a 60-80mm slope so the water runs off?
They’re not level they have a slope on them Lee did a spot-on job Lee is very special joiner you honestly don’t think he would put them in level🙄
R R the roof will be slightly sloped that there fitted too, so it will still run off
Nice video well done
Quality as always stu 👍
Thanks for watching Darren
@@Stucrompton1 love watching mate always a pleasure
Really nice job.
How long would it take to install one of these roof lights in to an existing flat roof. Look great by the way
Beautiful
Hi, great job. I am after some flat roof roof lights as the ones in your video. Can you recommend a supplier.
Top job. Especially in this heat

Good job. Am I seeing right, no protective frame around the glass unit?
What a cracking job pal and gang, be in touch about them rooflights, thumbup
Am your fan bro
Killed it.
Spot on👍👍
nice work..
Looks fantastic Stu, hope to see it when it's all complete, nice train as well 😀

Hi Stu. That random steam train is the Great Central Railway
Number 60103 - Flying Scotsman - hardly a "random" train :)
It is not The Great Central Railway.
@@garywalker7493 well Gary if your not into steam trains, like us, it probably is 'random'.
The plastic damp bags u put around those window frames is that a must ? I think it was just around the frame part ,
Nice work Stu. Lanterns looking stunning. And what about that sneaky steam train...👍🏾
Looking good mate cheers yeah cool to see that train
Perfekt work... 😍😋💪🥊
Top class
Looks great - would’ve been nice to see the fibreglass process rather than just the finished product .... great job none the less 👍
Stu, have you got a link to the rooflights? thx
top job as usual!!!
You really are a jack of all trades stu...
Do you mind me asking do you work for yourself and are you always busy??
Excellent , good job 😊
In your next video can you show detail of flashing thx
I would get done for indecent exposure
That "Random" Steam train was the Flying Scotsman buddy! 🚂
Sorry Stu... hadn't read the rest of the comments telling you what it was.
Awesome job on the roof fellas!
Great job!
Stu...I recently shot a 62...then I went on to the back nine! Bwa! Cheers :)
Hahah
Can you send me details of the triple glazed windows. I am making a house extension in April.
hi guys can I plase get more information where I can bay the windows and all material for GRP?
Thanks
Excelent job, 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you , Stu .

Pekná práca, rád pozerám tvoje videá.
cracking video and the Flying Scotsman as well.
Awesome job Stu! What's the life expectancy of GRP flat roof before maintenance/replacement 20yrs?
Nice to see wooden up stands for roof lights, the plastic ones are a bit naff, especially for GRP.
Nice drainage on the roof as well lads, love it! Was hammer action being used on that drill to drive them screws btw?
It's an impact driver not a drill 👍
No it’s just a noisy drill lol, not an impact driver
@@Stucrompton1 Yeah i have the same drill (not an impact as you say :P) Nice one Stu, all the best!
Cheers pal
Smart!
Hi stu isnt there supposed to be expansion gaps between osb boards and all the way around the perimeter ?
Also if you would have put vertical studs from bottom of roof to lantern you could of insulated all the way to glass and wouldn't have a 4ich cold spot and it would of held the vapour barrier all the way to the top
Sorry just realised it’s a warm roof .doesn’t need venting .
Quality lads 👍🏻
We were advised by building control to use all the materials we used Paul so all other opinions don’t matter. Cheers pal
Ply isn't suitable for fibreglass. OSB3 T&G is what's recommended
Is there an overflow pipe for rain water of the roof
Yea on 2 sides
Where does the rain water flow to?
Looks the bollocks stu 👍👌🏼
Did you not have to put insulation onto the upstand?
Hi Stu, excellent job mate. I am after similar roof lights but 600x2000. Where can I get them from?
Great job Stu. How tall is the ceiling ? I’m getting a similar 5m extension done and mine is 2.4m in ceiling height. Which I’m a bit disappointed with given rest of my house is 2.6m
2.4 is standard
stu crompton - thanks mate
What is that silicone called that you used to fixed the glass with!?
Cheers
Great video. Are the roof lights secure Stu? Held in only with silicon ?
Yeah that’s what we used and they are held secure in the framing they supply
You sloped front to back but then what is the slope to the corners?
KC and the sunshine band
Hi . Where did you get the roof window and frame from ? And can you install the glass straight on to the upstand with out the frame ?
Great job brother👌, this is koti from India, where you are doing this great job?
Great videos and great content. Is there no rainwater drainage required on a fibreglass flat roof?
Thanks.
Really tidy job buddy! That glass looks great. I’ll definitely give you a nudge if something come up.
Great job stu👍👍 is there a fall on that glass.
Yeah there’s enough fall 👍
Stuart what are those suction pads?
Hi mate just wanted to know the cost of the full extension if you don’t mind please cheers 👍
What's the brand and model of the skylight?
Might sound like a stupid question but isn't there meant to be an air gap above the insulation to let any moisture out and stop the OSB just going mouldy? Genuine question and not having a pop
Contact building control as they told us to do it this way. Cheers
The blade would only graze you lol, it will go straight through bone mate. How do you like the BT Engineering gear?
Great stuff buddy
