The biggest thing that MS2024 needs to be able to spread the workload over all threads of the CPU. It is absolutely insane that the current one only works on 1 or 2 threads of the CPU. It's 2024, let's not use 1998 coding anymore.

I share some of your concerns, but I think it’s too early to jump to any conclusions, at least until there is a lot more detail provided in the monthly dev updates. The trailer showed a lot of nice things as to how they’ll improve immersion, which makes sense since that’s what sells it for 80% of users, but it doesn’t mean the details you mentioned didn’t get implemented for us in the 20%. I imagine it’ll be feasible to install both 2020 and 2024 side by side, so that at least we can have a period where we use both, as things get updated and moved over, which is what I intend on doing. Thanks for the video Blu!

I am not able to imagine a scenario where they would get rid of it, and hard toggle all those assistances to on. You guys really have some serious trust issues. The best example that they listened to the hardcore sim Community (us), is the latest update for groundhandling & groundeffect which are pretty solid. Maybe still not on par with xp, but a very good step in the right direction. Btw, when the turbulence setting is on „realistic“ its even harder to fly than in reality, soooo… not that much optimised for gamepads i guess :D.

As a developer what I can say about retro compatibility is that the add ons will work as expected(assuming great retro compatibility is implemented), but if you want the new features to work, the developer will probably need to roll out an update. For example, android 14 still supports older apps build for older version of android(for example, if I build an app for android 10, it will work on android 14), It work’s but new features that came with android 15 won’t work until the developer updates the app.

A game on XBox; a Simulation on PC. That is how it should be. two separate but parallel systems. Both PC and XBox are not compatible and both have suffered because Microsoft sees XBox as a money-maker and needs to keep it going. XBox helps keep the franchise afloat but in my opinion as a simmer and one who is experienced in business a clear cut division should be made. If that means more work for Microsoft and Asobo then so be it. I have both an XBox console and a PC.

The flight models are pretty good for a simulator. They could always be better. I currently hold a commercial pilot license with a seaplane, multi engine, night rating, just finishing my multi IFR and airline transport pilot license soon. My current training is on a PA44 Seminole and the Carenado model is pretty good. Yes, it’s could be better… but I think the biggest things missing is the forces on the controls to get the real feeling of the aircraft.
The biggest issue is how seaplanes handles, but I think that’s something that could be fixed over time.

Seems like you are reading way too much into this. If a developer says they are developing for 2020, then it just means they want to reach the larger user base of 2020 than target something for a smaller user base in 2024. It does not mean the aircraft will not work for 2024. The way Seb spoke about the enhancements, you'll get some for free, the more complex ones you'll need to tweak and enable. Providing a free update is what all developers should be aiming for, this is BAU, there's absolutely nothing to be concerned with here.

I agree with basically everything you have said in this video, but I also wanted to add another thing. What happens to MSFS 2020 and its satellite data streaming service? I can only assume that once the new simulator releases at the end of this year, it will only be a matter of time before they cut the servers for the scenery streaming for MSFS 2020 and switch them over to 2024? Maybe they will not do that, and will keep servers for both sims for a long time, but it should be a big concern for MSFS 2020 users. Luckily, I'm still using X-Plane 11 anyway, although if MSFS 2024 releases with a vastly improved flight model that competes more closely with X-Plane and P3D, as well as having good compatibility with existing aircraft (particularly the Fenix A320 as I really exclusively fly the A320 series), I would consider switching. For now though, X-Plane 11 is still a very competent simulator even if I do have about 400gb of mods.

So many new study level planes were supposed to drop by now, yet we are still waiting. For example, the 777 seems to have vanished from development existence as far as I know!

  • @alpinebravo7090
    @alpinebravo7090 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

It is already the case that developers have to update their aircraft to take advantage of changes in the core physics of the sim and code new parameters introduced in the SDK (eg the new ground handling physics/variables). There are no 'global' changes to the way aircraft fly (unless its changes to the atmosphere). 2020/2024 will almost certainly share the same core physics engine as developed for 2020, but it will be up to individual developers to decide what they implement in the flight model of their individual aircraft - again already the case with the choice between CFD and non-CFD aircraft. Expect to see more emphasis on CFD though (with remains unpopular with developers as it is hard to retro-implement).
This explains why a developer can develop for 2020 and then bring it into 2024 with little additional development cost.
What we can hope for is that some of the new SDK variables that will come with 2024 will be better implemented than at the moment and with better supporting documentation.

My concern is them turning Flight Simulator 2024 into some kind of Forza Horizon game, making looks matter more than quality and reliability. We still don't have CB clouds in FS 2020, neither a good live weather.
About the addon aircrafts, it looks to me that the demand is for modern and easy airplanes, simply to take it from A to B and done. My interest in flight simulator is - and I know I'm just one guy in the comunity - to use both old and modern airplanes, as real as it gets, with depth in systems, procedures and consequences. But it's getting more and more difficult for developers to make complex addons when we have this concerns about if will worth buy the new simulator or stay on the current one "more limited" and not lose the invest we made into it.

Ok first you state that you want a better flight model, but then you also want to be able to use your old planes. I think iit'll be either one or the other. if they improve the FM to a big extent, as you want them to, then your old planes need to at least be updated. So there may be in interim in which they don't work properly, unless the old FM is left in an another option, like they currently do with the legacy model.
Anyway I'm not worried. I convinced this will be an awesome sim, even if it may have some initial bugs, as all complex apps initually have. But it'll be another swesome ride, despite all the worried minds out there. Either way you can always run MSFS 2020 next to the new one, if you don't feel confident about migrating :) For me, MSFS 2020 already feels dated after having seen the trailer for ''24 and Novenber can't come soon enough!

I'll repeat my comments from a similar YT: My main concern is if they'll finally get AI-based ATC to work. The biggest roadblock to immersion (and usefulness to real-world pilots) is being able to "realistically fly IFR in the system" and both MSFS 2020 and X-Plane 12 still have a long way to go in that regard. It's really frustrating when your outgoing transmission choices are very limited compared to what they are IRL and some of the ridiculous routing (particularly approach vectoring) provided. These are supposed to be sims, not games, and that needs to be higher-priority than the areas they highlight in the teasers.

In my experience I 'lost' a good amount of my favourite aircraft in the transition even though it was said they would all work, so take it with a pinch of salt because they just like to take your money and leave you living in hope that one day those planes will work which they wont unless the developer cares to update it..

Most the current scenery, there will be a couple moving figures, but most are static. You will notice landing in an airport where people are frozen. Also, the ground vehicles seen are very detailed now. Some current scenery, the ground vehicles aren't all that detailed. And as you mentioned, grass now moves, etc. However a lot of scenery, they put in their own custom textures. So you will have grass blowing outside the airport, but grass off the runway is just static texture. The bar for quality has been raised.

Of course there is always room for tweaking but it’s pretty damm close to real, there are variances due to how developers tune that model, no Simulator will ever match the real world experience even with motion rigs.
Even in real world conditions two identical type aircraft will have their differences.
Bottom line is, It’s a Simulator and the best you can hope for is something similar to how the real aircraft behaves. If you think your going to jump from any Simulator into the real world and expect to fly without proper real aircraft experience then your fooling yourself.

I dont have most of these concerns, imho MSFS has the most accurate flight model out there, can it be improved? yes, but I d say its already on a path of diminishing returns, whats holding it back is are well defined planes, fine tuned so well, that only a few payware addons reach that level of quality at this point.
With addon compatibility I think its not really that much of a technical jump to create much of opportunity for issues, like some points which may be small compatibility issues is stuff like planes that do not have openable doors or their doors open in a way, that was not considered in development of FS24, lack of defined places on planes for new features, like not defined hooks where the ropes shold go on, and minor stuff like that.
My biggest concern with 24 is how fast internet connection will it need to run & look smooth, second after that is how long will it take for wishlisted stuff that is planned for MSFS24+ to get into the game, especially the Shared cocpit & Force feedback support (tho that one also kinda depends on hw manufacturers), and my third concern is that the MS will still want to avoid having weapons in the game, which imho really holds it back, tho there is a ray of hope, considering that in the new trailer the A-10 seems to have a gun (tho its so blurry shot, we can only guess)

In all honesty, if I buy a 3rd party $30 FS2020 plane, and the dev wants to charge me $5 to revamp it for FS2024, I'll be fine with that. As for how long it takes...Microsobo need to give 3rd parts devs the new SDK ASAP.

@@atistang no need to. You said you're worried about the Sim being dumbed down for casual gamers. Was msfs2020 dumbed down?

@@Msfs2024HD no, but Microsoft Flight 2012 was a bit. What I'm getting at is I hope this isn't a situation where due to budget or time constraints they have to choose to skimp on flight models in exchange for all the extra missions. Maybe someone making decisions decided to put more effort into attracting a broader range of gamers vs attracting mostly flight sim enthusiasts.
I don't think this will be the case, but it's possible.

@@atistang well this is not ms flight. I don't think ms is going down that road again. 2 years ago asobo hired Lead Engineer from IL-2 Sturmovik, Andrey (Petrovich) Solomykin. He's one of the leading flight model developers. Google his name. I don't think they would hire him if they wanted to dumb down the sim

I'm not too worried as it's probably time to buy another $5,000 PC.

I'm worried that I bought the last one because it would be upgradable for years to come... and it didn't make it four years before they started wanting that wallet again.

Hey men, love your videos, but it seems like you are completely not up to date, they have made it clear that the msfs2020 addons will be able for the player, to convert to msfs2024, and that they will give the developers early acces to the SDK to make use of the new flight model. The last one seems very logic for me, as you stated that with Xp12 you have the same as Xp11 and that devs need to update it to have the new features. Love from Amsterdam brother

Asobo made LOTS of things clear before MSFS 2020 dropped that still haven't happened. We're all just very skeptical this can be delivered this in such a major update. Xplane 11 to 12 was HARDLY a significant upgrade and how many study level addons smoothly transitioned from 11 to 12? Some developers even charged for upgrades! Now I realize MSFS is FAR less of a shitshow than Xplane, but I'm not gonna be surprised when out new sim starts crashing.
