The biggest thing that MS2024 needs to be able to spread the workload over all threads of the CPU. It is absolutely insane that the current one only works on 1 or 2 threads of the CPU. It's 2024, let's not use 1998 coding anymore.
It's not running on 2 threads. At least 6 to 8 cores get good utilisation. Now, if people cannot comprehend that AMD CPUs with 64 cores will not perform well, then sorry for that
@@athgt6630it does not utilize more than two cores. Please don't comment on stuff you don't understand
@@clibbbb I don't need your permission for commenting on the things you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Do some research before making yourself sound clueless
@@athgt6630 but you don't have clue what you are talking about. You're just a miserable lonely little person arguing with people online to get some social interaction
Shout-out to Miltech Simulations for saying their FS20 aircraft will be updated for free for FS24 as soon as it comes out!
I share some of your concerns, but I think it’s too early to jump to any conclusions, at least until there is a lot more detail provided in the monthly dev updates. The trailer showed a lot of nice things as to how they’ll improve immersion, which makes sense since that’s what sells it for 80% of users, but it doesn’t mean the details you mentioned didn’t get implemented for us in the 20%. I imagine it’ll be feasible to install both 2020 and 2024 side by side, so that at least we can have a period where we use both, as things get updated and moved over, which is what I intend on doing. Thanks for the video Blu!
I pray the default atc is somewhat fixed and doesn’t fly you into mountains
I want to be able to actually request my descent
Just do vatsim bruh
@@jasonjada2259 what about people that don’t want the level of vatsim and prefer playing casually on console?
@@atdaniel2205 they are lost, now with msfs2020 and you can be sure they will be in msfs2024 ... go for sayintentions, costy, but almost perfect!
@@jasonjada2259 what about people that don't like talking to people? Otherwise, I'm happy with the progress of Beyond ATC and I really don't expect 2024 ATC to meet those standards.
My concern is that MSFS 2024 will be a game rather than a simulator
It’s just adding replay value with a built in career mode. Fsx had this with all them corny missions
FSX was a simulator. They had tons and tons of missions
@@SpidaMez exactly
Thats what I thought for 2020 they would ruin themselves if they went more game base scenario based. Look at fir fighter simulator and all those scenario based simulators they are fun for 30 mins then its all the same. More just not looking forward to redownloading all my addons payware and freeware lost my codes for payware so not sure how that will work.
Why is that a bad thing?
Yep, have a big motion platform and when moving from DCS to MSFS to differences in heave are immediately noticeable.
I'm a real world pilot light single and twins.i use VR for that real experience and the only unrealistic thing for me is the crosswind .You won't get anything as bad as that in the real thing well over the top.
Turbulence is also completely wrong, it seems to be either heavy Turbulence all the time or off. The ground physics are also nothing like real life every feels the same and it's like driving a car.
Remember when PMDG was developing a 777?
right...
When PMDG goes dark they go DARK. Not a word from them regarding the 777 in weeks!
There is a 777 visible in the trailer at JFK with all the United planes so…
@@taxiway207 imagine if asobo bought it and is including it as one of the high fidelity flyables? Rumor has it they bought the twin otter by aerosoft , as it’s no longer available to purchase..
@@vincebagadonis8016 there’s a twin otter in the trailer too so probably. And they bought the A-10 currently in development by DC Designs and they bought the FlightFX Vision jet and likely the Got Friends Edgley Optica. They bought lots of stuff.
I think the key thing missed in this video was the talk about Marketplace items being moved over right? PMDG for example is on the marketplace so I'd imagine it also move along as normal. Of course we're five months out from an actual release. I think we'll probably get more clarity as we get closer to release.
This is a great question!
Blu, Bluebird was talking about updating their 757 to take advantage of any needed NEW features made available in 2024. For now, the assumption is that all of the planes will work with the old FM in play and third party devs will opt into the new one which doesn't take a lot of work to do.
biggest concern is the flight model as it is probably optimized for xbox players on xbox controllers so they can easily do the helicopter pickup missions
Yes this is my concern it’s clearly aimed as a console GAME albeit a very pretty one.
Flight sim has always been just that a sim at heart I only hope this continues.
Google Andrey (Petrovich) Solomykin. He was hired by asobo 2 years ago. Maybe that will give you an idea how the flight model will be or if it's going to be an arcade game.
They will likely have difficulty settings again. The flight model may have its issues, but there is a reason real pilots still choose to fly msfs.
Thats kinda bullshit imho. They already implemented assistances so i could fly the b747 with a mice and a Keyboard. I am not able to imagine a scenario where they would get rid of it, and hard toggle all those assistances to on. You guys really have some serious trust issues. The best example that they listened to the hardcore sim Community (us), is the latest update for groundhandling & groundeffect which are pretty solid. Maybe still not on par with xp, but a very good step in the right direction. Btw, when the turbulence setting is on „realistic“ its even harder to fly than in reality, soooo… not that much optimised for gamepads i guess :D.
@Dgboroflyer LOL. You're sitting at a desk in front of a computer screen. It's a game, regardless of whether it's on console or computer.
You Boomers are insufferable.
I'm not concerned about anything, I've spent a good 600hours on 2020 I am excited to finally be able to have a career within the game and actually feel like I'm flying commercial or on a rescue or delivery flight..... bring it on! 2020 blew my mind 2024 will be nothing but better from what they have learned with 2020
Out of 600 hrs (I have 507) ...how MANY CRASHES & how many Aboso CHALLEDGES have you completed? Show us the proof.
As a developer what I can say about retro compatibility is that the add ons will work as expected(assuming great retro compatibility is implemented), but if you want the new features to work, the developer will probably need to roll out an update. For example, android 14 still supports older apps build for older version of android(for example, if I build an app for android 10, it will work on android 14), It work’s but new features that came with android 15 won’t work until the developer updates the app.
Alot of dev have no more info than us on the backwards compatibility of their add-ons, and Microsoft confirmed that they will give an early version to developers so they can verify that it works correctly as I understood
I’m sticking with 2020 until I see how good it really is, and if my stuff will still work.
Weird how my brother saw me flying on FS2020 and asked if there are things to do like transport or jobs kinda like roadrunner. I told him this new one might be like that. I hope its both a sim and somewhat a game.
A game on XBox; a Simulation on PC. That is how it should be. two separate but parallel systems. Both PC and XBox are not compatible and both have suffered because Microsoft sees XBox as a money-maker and needs to keep it going. XBox helps keep the franchise afloat but in my opinion as a simmer and one who is experienced in business a clear cut division should be made. If that means more work for Microsoft and Asobo then so be it. I have both an XBox console and a PC.
@@MegaPeedee I can't afford a gaming PC at the moment or else I'd be on there full time. It's my pass time and glad it's on console. Last flight sim I played was 2004
@MegaPeedee Xbox is the reason asobo can hire more devs to keep working and giving us all these free updates, planes and realistic gps. The Xbox doesn't take away anything from the pc version. Remember the Xbox is just a lower end pc
Agree with these and other comments - even though I cleared coaches, shaders on pc and game the dam micro stutters every time arriving at airports etc is a must fix for me in either version 🤔
Oh blu! Its been a while man. You bring me nostalgia of pre fs2020 lockdown vibes. The background music is beautiful man, adds to the feeling of nostalgia. What is the music bro?
Looking forward to what Jorge has to say at Expo next week on this topic. The flight model is a much debated aspect of MSFS 2020. I have many IRL pilots that recently moved from XP over to MSFS and their biggest gripe is the flight model and how the planes handle on the ground. Really hoping with all the new bells and whistles and programming that they can improve 2024 in various areas.
Yea im looking forward to hearing what they have to say
I mean most of us serious flyers fly payware anyway. I barely use default aircrafts
The new default airliners are gonna be worth a try imo. The inibuilds a300 for example. It certainly isn’t “study level” but every button in the cockpit works and you can do A to B flights with high system functionality, just no failures. If the a330 is gonna be like this, I think it will 100% worth your time to fly
I don’t think the 787 and 747 are that good, many things in the cockpit don’t work but inibuilds system depth is rather good
Asobo said that EVERY default aircraft in 2024 will be payware quality, even the aircraft Asobo themselves are making.
I love the default TMB 930. Fly it all the time. The Cirrus SR22T is pretty good too since it got updated.
@@reason6835I love the cirrus just wish someone would make a sr20 and normal sr22
I have a question! Does the current 2020 sim have multi screen? Many years ago I could do it. All I can do is stretch the view to my 2nd and 3rd screen, which distorts the view. Your thoughts?
The flight models are pretty good for a simulator. They could always be better. I currently hold a commercial pilot license with a seaplane, multi engine, night rating, just finishing my multi IFR and airline transport pilot license soon. My current training is on a PA44 Seminole and the Carenado model is pretty good. Yes, it’s could be better… but I think the biggest things missing is the forces on the controls to get the real feeling of the aircraft.
The biggest issue is how seaplanes handles, but I think that’s something that could be fixed over time.
Yes, I'm a real world pilot and agree. But the crosswind effect seems over the top to me.
The helicopters are not good imo
I expect nothing from 20 to 24 so, therefore, I'll be happy with whatever happens. Maybe it's because I'm old(er) but as long as I can breathe, have all my limbs, and can reasonably get around, it's a good day... yeah, sure... this can cause anxiety, but there's so much more out there to be anxious over... such as will PMDG hold off their release of the 777-300ER until 2024 at this juncture? In the meantime between XP/MSFS I'm quite occupied with what I have.
I feel the activities will be static scripted events like the landing challenges that once you do it there is no reason to do it again. They will just add new ones with patches and there wont be like a dynamic mission list to choose from. Would be nice to be wrong.
Thats what i think too. But I hope we are wrong
Fully agree with the 3rd point. Msfs was released in 2020 and we got to 2024 with PMDG T7 to finally have everything we used to have back in the hangar. Well, with some exceptions, for me notably the Q400.
These are good questions and concerns. It's dad that we aren't able to ask these to the devs and actually get answers. I also am concerned about the development cycle taking a long time. The Sim drops in mid November but then they do monthly updates which makes me feel like we'll get an incomplete sim that takes 10 years to complete.... again. I was happy to hear that VR would be available day 1.
Actually I have the same concerns. 1 won’t it be too much of a game instead of a simulator. 2 will my add ons work properly. Is it really better from a flightsimmer point of view. For myself I’ll wait like six months before I consider to move to msfs 2024 . I aspect a lot of issues in the beginning and I’m interested in a realistic flight experience without having problems with the software.
Seems like you are reading way too much into this. If a developer says they are developing for 2020, then it just means they want to reach the larger user base of 2020 than target something for a smaller user base in 2024. It does not mean the aircraft will not work for 2024. The way Seb spoke about the enhancements, you'll get some for free, the more complex ones you'll need to tweak and enable. Providing a free update is what all developers should be aiming for, this is BAU, there's absolutely nothing to be concerned with here.
Microsoft is STILL working on it (over 40 years of developing) ...sounds like BOEING talking.
I agree with basically everything you have said in this video, but I also wanted to add another thing. What happens to MSFS 2020 and its satellite data streaming service? I can only assume that once the new simulator releases at the end of this year, it will only be a matter of time before they cut the servers for the scenery streaming for MSFS 2020 and switch them over to 2024? Maybe they will not do that, and will keep servers for both sims for a long time, but it should be a big concern for MSFS 2020 users. Luckily, I'm still using X-Plane 11 anyway, although if MSFS 2024 releases with a vastly improved flight model that competes more closely with X-Plane and P3D, as well as having good compatibility with existing aircraft (particularly the Fenix A320 as I really exclusively fly the A320 series), I would consider switching. For now though, X-Plane 11 is still a very competent simulator even if I do have about 400gb of mods.
In a recent dev q&a msfs said that 2020 and 2024 will share many of the same terrain data. Minus the new stuff ofcourse
My question is will new planes like the Airbus 330 by Aerosoft will be available for folks that own msfs2020 as a downloadable/payware olanes that will work on msfs2020?
Backward capabilities
I have very similar concerns, thanks for making this video! personally I plan to hang back on release until the dust settles and we know what's what regarding add-ons. Honestly, as cool as the new sim looks, I don't feel a rush to jump on board like I did when 2020 launched since 2020 is great, so may even give it a year for all the major bugs to be ironed out.
Hopefully all these questions will be answered at Flight Sim expo…please do let us know so we can decide what to do come November. Thanks 🙏🏽
I only just got a computer strong enough to upgrade to 2020FSM, better graphics. but I like how FSX worked better. pivoting around external view with the hat switch and I miss the missions, it looks like they are bringing back missions in 2024
Congrats on the upgrade man
I thought the devs talked about updating the code that is behind the sim, so it runs more efficiently and up to date code that is used more nowadays instead of the older code that was used in FSX etc.
Thing is if the code is truly changed, how will the older products that were designed in the old code work in the 2024 sim.
sure hope the default aircraft physics is on the same level of the PMDG / ini builds type aircraft.
I will wait a little while one 2024 is released and see what the reviews so.
Microsoft said that they will give developers the SDK well before FS24 is out so products should be fully compatible by release date if developers don’t slack
I'm looking forward to MSFS 2024 but I am worried about the VR experience just being ported and not worked on properly, it felt like getting blood from a stone just to get conformation of VR support
How much will the professional edition cost? I hear it will be pricey.
I'll hope for; different modes, ie gammer, simmer, flight sim geek. 2) Better VRMR support. 3) Better Mapping/SDK to and of Peripherals. Software cross over? Hope for free, expect we'll see some upgrade charges however. Thanks for the thoughts.
These concerns seems like normal issues that will come. You can technically put a transmission made for 500hp on a 1000hp engine, but it won’t work well if at all. This was clear with Xplane 11-12. It will be the same for at least a year with Aircraft for MSFS. It will also take scenery some time to come over.
All true!! Nice review man keep it up!!
I’m guessing it will take 1-2 years for major developers to release updates for our favorite addons in order for them to be fully compatible with MSFS 2024. And like you, I’m gonna wait for my favorite aircraft to be available for 2024 before moving over to the sim.
I hope not lol
I’m worried, did they say anything on pricing? I wonder, with even more streaming of data and scenery, will they make it a subscription?
Why would they make it a subscription?
@@Msfs2024HD cause it is essentially a mass online multiplayer game that requires a constant connection, they are updating it regularly with new planes and better landscape and cities and all that cost a lot of money. So for me the question is rather, can they allow not to do it? That might also explain why msfs 2020 might remain somewhat in parallel. To add, those cost continue while any one off payment has long disappeared in MS Accounting.
@@svenwdMicrosoft is publishing, they have no need to make it sub based. They get a % cut of everything on the marketplace (part of why paint packs cost for Xbox users). They are making constant income just from that alone
It's on Steam also, so no paid subscription. Not sure if it will be on Gamepass.
@@svenwd is there a subscription for msfs 2020?
Also wonder if the career style applications like A Pilots Life 2 from Simbit World how will that be compatible. Or virtual airline addons.
I have 2 concerns. Will my hundreds of dollars worth of addons work on day 1? I highly DOUBT it. Also, will we all need to spend a ANOTHER 1k + on a new video card as we all did so that MSFS2020 could run at a decent frame rate?
I highly doubt that as well.
It probably won’t need a new GPU as the underlying rendering tech is much the same. The movement away from main thread limited systems may even improve the performance on current systems.
They already announced the minimum specs are the same for 2024 as it was for 2020. You should see similar performance
Hopefully we'll get a much better development rate of 3rd party study level aircraft addons for 2024. How many study level aircraft do we have for MSFS2020 over 4 1/2 years in? like 4 or 5? So many new study level planes were supposed to drop by now, yet we are still waiting. For example, the 777 seems to have vanished from development existence as far as I know!
It is already the case that developers have to update their aircraft to take advantage of changes in the core physics of the sim and code new parameters introduced in the SDK (eg the new ground handling physics/variables). There are no 'global' changes to the way aircraft fly (unless its changes to the atmosphere). 2020/2024 will almost certainly share the same core physics engine as developed for 2020, but it will be up to individual developers to decide what they implement in the flight model of their individual aircraft - again already the case with the choice between CFD and non-CFD aircraft. Expect to see more emphasis on CFD though (with remains unpopular with developers as it is hard to retro-implement).
This explains why a developer can develop for 2020 and then bring it into 2024 with little additional development cost.
What we can hope for is that some of the new SDK variables that will come with 2024 will be better implemented than at the moment and with better supporting documentation.
Hello hello from France bro ! You're right !
Would love an actual working weather radar.
Dont we all lol
I'm an old school "sinner" ah I mean simmer.. and to me I like to keep things simple..
I have a basic set up. (Laptop, ..joystick.yoke..pedals throttle ..pedals .) Everything shuld be portable and carry ready..
I still use MSFS 2002 PROFESIONAL EDITION..( It keeps me current on basic operatios of the basic airplane I fly the Cessna 172...or Baron Beechcraft..
I got my PPL in 1979 and flight Sims were primitive...and lacking but it keep me sharp in basic procedures..ie Preflight..Startup..Communication..flight maneuvers..take off and landings techniques..navigation (VOR..ADF..)
Anything else was like..icing on the cake..
Flying is a very physical activity and there is a lot of "bumping and grinding" going on in real airplanes..
I haven't dip my toes into the new waters yet.. MSFS 2020 YET...
I am still reticent...like an innocent young lady going to her first dance..
I have seen the good..the bad..and the ugly of flight sims..
And know the pitfalls of investing in the wrong flight sims..
I am a DIY type..so I like building things in my garage that don't cost too much..(cheap..)
Anyway...I like what I see for the future of flight simulator tech..
But just remember this..
Simulators are Tools...NOT TOYS.
TRAINING IS THEIR #1 GOAL...
CYA...

Wondering the same thing myself. I hope they have drastically improved the flight model.
I think Imma get the 2024 on day one… but I’m gonna keep the 2020 alongside the new sim. I should’ve done that with the XP11 to XP12 transition, but I didn’t have disk space at that time.
My concern is them turning Flight Simulator 2024 into some kind of Forza Horizon game, making looks matter more than quality and reliability. We still don't have CB clouds in FS 2020, neither a good live weather.
About the addon aircrafts, it looks to me that the demand is for modern and easy airplanes, simply to take it from A to B and done. My interest in flight simulator is - and I know I'm just one guy in the comunity - to use both old and modern airplanes, as real as it gets, with depth in systems, procedures and consequences. But it's getting more and more difficult for developers to make complex addons when we have this concerns about if will worth buy the new simulator or stay on the current one "more limited" and not lose the invest we made into it.
I in enjoy the same level of fidelity as you. I understand and agree
I don’t think we have enough information out to be either worried or excited yet.
Too late im already worried haha
My head hurts. My mid-range PC can barely run 2020. What happens now?
I like to get games/simulations at launch, I did with MSFS as with other favorite titles. But this time I will probably wait a couple of months. Not too much for the issue of addons but rather because of the early bugs that we always get. Plus the fact that I am still happy with the MSFS 2020 so I don’t feel an urgent need to update. The jump from MS FSX to MSFS2020 was way more exiting…
Ok first you state that you want a better flight model, but then you also want to be able to use your old planes. I think iit'll be either one or the other. if they improve the FM to a big extent, as you want them to, then your old planes need to at least be updated. So there may be in interim in which they don't work properly, unless the old FM is left in an another option, like they currently do with the legacy model.
Anyway I'm not worried. I convinced this will be an awesome sim, even if it may have some initial bugs, as all complex apps initually have. But it'll be another swesome ride, despite all the worried minds out there. Either way you can always run MSFS 2020 next to the new one, if you don't feel confident about migrating :) For me, MSFS 2020 already feels dated after having seen the trailer for ''24 and Novenber can't come soon enough!
I'll repeat my comments from a similar YT: My main concern is if they'll finally get AI-based ATC to work. The biggest roadblock to immersion (and usefulness to real-world pilots) is being able to "realistically fly IFR in the system" and both MSFS 2020 and X-Plane 12 still have a long way to go in that regard. It's really frustrating when your outgoing transmission choices are very limited compared to what they are IRL and some of the ridiculous routing (particularly approach vectoring) provided. These are supposed to be sims, not games, and that needs to be higher-priority than the areas they highlight in the teasers.
If you think for one second that your aircraft from 2020 will work flawlessly as they did, you are thinking wrong..
Laminar Research said the same thing and it eventually turned out that yes you could load them in a fly them, but they weren't realistic or as they were before, things were broken and ultimately the promise they made was sugar coated to prevent customer upset, which eventually happened anyway.
In my experience I 'lost' a good amount of my favourite aircraft in the transition even though it was said they would all work, so take it with a pinch of salt because they just like to take your money and leave you living in hope that one day those planes will work which they wont unless the developer cares to update it..
comparing Laminar research to Microsoft is wild. We are talking about Xbox etc. , the addons purchased in the Marketplace will all work and i don't think there is any reason to believe not so. Or, at the very least, not for the fact, that something happend in Xplane.
@@trapy3550 if you change anything involving flight model you have to make changes to the aircraft to ensure they fly as originally programmed to. That was the primary problem when transitioning on xplane along with various datarefs that broke specific things.
@@PilotLH not in the case of MSFS though. The base structure of the flightmodel persists, new stuff is getting added on top of it, leaving the option for the devs to either enable it, set numbers and tweak them for their flight model or to ignore it and use the existing parameters in order to make their aircraft fly, as they want them to.
MSFS isn’t xplane
@@trapy3550 we’ll see
Main question - do I have to buy a new computer to run this?
Currently there is two ways of coding aircraft into MSFS and MSFS2024 will supports both:
XML code- goes back all the way back to FSX. this is a very old technology and very inefficient.
HTML5/JS and C++/WASM - This is a better way to code complex aircraft and more efficient. And I believe MSFS2024 will switch all to this coding eventually.
It's pretty simple for me. I have invested MANY thousands of dollars into MSFS2020. I have placed a moratorium on buying anything new until 2024 comes out and we see what happens with it. I have been through this with P3D, I have now been through this with XP11 to XP12 transition... There are 3 aircraft I bought for XP11 that have NOT been upgraded. One was simply discontinued, and the other two we are still waiting for updates (and those will be paid upgrades, not free)... So for now, I am sticking with buying XP12 aircraft ONLY.
I spent way too much on the PMDG 737 to not have it in MSFS 2024. I am for sure staying back till that plane is supported.
Asobo has already said that all 2020 payware will be compatible for 2024. But obviously it will be up to the developers to update their products to take advantage any new features.
Great video and couldn't agree more with everything you brought up 👍
Scenery probably will work, but perhaps will stick out like a sore thumb. You notice all human figures now move in the sim. Most the current scenery, there will be a couple moving figures, but most are static. You will notice landing in an airport where people are frozen. Also, the ground vehicles seen are very detailed now. Some current scenery, the ground vehicles aren't all that detailed. And as you mentioned, grass now moves, etc. However a lot of scenery, they put in their own custom textures. So you will have grass blowing outside the airport, but grass off the runway is just static texture. The bar for quality has been raised.
PC requirements should be the same as for FS2020. I hope to see more retro planes. FS2020 add-ons will be compatible with 2024.
You have a great voice and excellent presentation skills. I hope you leverage them into a fantastic career. Best wishes.
Thank you so much! That means alot!. Will have to wait and see what opportunities come my way.
I was hoping for a lot more info about the base sim itself rather than just another trailer that was basically the same as last year. Hopefully we'll get a lot more info at FlightSim Expo. I actually really think MSFS 2024 will be WAY better in every way than 2020. It's an entirely new engine instead of the SUPER old FS9 engine which was the source of most of the issues with it's limitations.
I'm sticking with flight simulator 2020 myself at this point. I have everything set up how I like it and so many add-ons for it I don't want to have to transition into a new product yet that is probably going to be buggy and have issues for some time. I'm also concerned about it being more like a game than an actual simulator.
I'll just use 2020 until 2024 is stable and compatible with my add-ons. I've done this when 2020 came out. I've used FSX until June 2022
Whole heartily agree with everything you said. Great video.
The inclusion of gyrocopters is a good indication the the flight model has been overhauled and if they did do a good job, that other sim will have almost zero relevance outside of plane selection.
Please, a replay system that's like the Aerofly FS4 replay system! The 'experimental' replay system in MSFS 2020 is clumsy, not intuitive.
Oh yea i forgot about this! Much needed!!
the number one concern has to be the performance, no? will you get above 20fps with anything less than a 5090ti?
I should hope so as they’re not testing it with a 5090.
Not the old flight model argument again, I am a real world pilot,I have friends who are real world pilots and they are all happy with the current flight model. Of course there is always room for tweaking but it’s pretty damm close to real, there are variances due to how developers tune that model, no Simulator will ever match the real world experience even with motion rigs.
Even in real world conditions two identical type aircraft will have their differences.
Bottom line is, It’s a Simulator and the best you can hope for is something similar to how the real aircraft behaves. If you think your going to jump from any Simulator into the real world and expect to fly without proper real aircraft experience then your fooling yourself.
Yep the age old flight model debate continues. Lol Personally i just hope they make a significant upgrade to stop everyone from complaining about it. Such as the twitchyness in some planes and the tendency to float the whole runway during flare. But you are right it will never be EXACTLY like real life
It’s a little bit more than “room for tweaking.” Hold them to higher standard.
Blue Game thanks for the vid. I have the same questions. I've been a MSFS user since 2000 (I've owned all the editions). I've purchased aircraft scenery, aircraft flight sim magazines and multiple types of hardware (PC, joysticks/throttle rudder pedals etc.). If what I currently own for 2020 (PMDG aircraft and scenery) don't cross over this maybe the end of the line for this hobby. I've invested to much $$$$ to have to replace it all again or wait months for potential updates. I also have P3D with multiple aircraft/sceneries when i step away for a year or two while awaiting 2020 edition. Heartbroken!
Microsoft said all add ons will be compatible as long as the devs update using the sdk
My biggest concern is my PMDG aircraft as those are my most expensive ones
I just like to fly about not bothered taking it seriously. Which is good becase all the flights I've done i have never managed to actually land anything.. .
I dont have most of these concerns, imho MSFS has the most accurate flight model out there, can it be improved? yes, but I d say its already on a path of diminishing returns, whats holding it back is are well defined planes, fine tuned so well, that only a few payware addons reach that level of quality at this point.
With addon compatibility I think its not really that much of a technical jump to create much of opportunity for issues, like some points which may be small compatibility issues is stuff like planes that do not have openable doors or their doors open in a way, that was not considered in development of FS24, lack of defined places on planes for new features, like not defined hooks where the ropes shold go on, and minor stuff like that.
My biggest concern with 24 is how fast internet connection will it need to run & look smooth, second after that is how long will it take for wishlisted stuff that is planned for MSFS24+ to get into the game, especially the Shared cocpit & Force feedback support (tho that one also kinda depends on hw manufacturers), and my third concern is that the MS will still want to avoid having weapons in the game, which imho really holds it back, tho there is a ray of hope, considering that in the new trailer the A-10 seems to have a gun (tho its so blurry shot, we can only guess)
Also do you remeber when there was a new propeller physics, I think in Sim Update 8 in like early 2022? I think the addon compatibility jump to MSFS24 will be even smaller than that.
Yea good points John about aircraft missing features such as compatible hooks or doors.
I really hop they found a way to include shared cockpit. Thats been on the wishlist a long time and i believe they pushed it back for 24. And yes we need weapons in msfs
From what I’ve heard almost all mods for fs2020 will work for fs2024
what's the price for 2024 sim
i feel the same as you do. The flight model still leaves to be desired, especially on default planes.
I massively agree with the first point
I fly a cessna 152 irl and in game it feels like and arcade
Considering my Community folder is around 1.4TB (yes TB)- I will need a whole new SSD for 2024
Mine isn’t far off either what with all the add ons Fenix PMDG and the numerous Orbx add ons etc.
u sure ur not using a certain site for some of those? 😂😂
@@frankkky7375something something plaza
My two hopes; even better graphics and more realistic ground traffic.
As for Aerosoft, this tells me they want some features form 2024 and the relative sales difference between the two doesn't concern them. We'll see if this pays off, but I would say they are in the minority at this stage, but sooner or later more developers will adopt this mindset as 2024 popularity grows and I expect it to grow really quickly.
Is the CRJ550-700 from Aerosoft? I have that one & it is broken, the auto pilot won't work
Should work fine. Did you try reinstalling it?
@@svenwd It is a fresh re-download yesterday, the AP beeps when I click it but wont stay on & I don't have it at full throttle
sorry but its most likely a user error
@@wrongwayfeldman5393 strange, key binding issues maybe? No idea, all I can say, it does work for me. It's not a flawless plane, but I could take it on vatsim which I guess with your issues, you most likely can't...
The features that were an issue easily fixable or/and exist for decades in other simulators:
- realistic flight model
- Correct ILS and visual landing aids
- Weather radar
If they don't take that in account, they don't take in account simmers as most of the money come from gamers who are not really simmers.
As they did not really advertised on these features, I'm a bit concerned.
Fenix and PMDG, now those are realistic planes with amazing flight models!
I'm just gonna sit back and wait for the reviews and patches for MS2024!
Great video. You hit the nail on the head about the three of the four most important concerns. Others worry about puffy clouds and being able to destroy their airplane by flying into a thunderstorm. I'm most concerned about two things:
1. The flight model physics. Will all the planes I own now be improved? Or will I need to buy all new ones? In all honesty, if I buy a 3rd party $30 FS2020 plane, and the dev wants to charge me $5 to revamp it for FS2024, I'll be fine with that. As for how long it takes...Microsobo need to give 3rd parts devs the new SDK ASAP.
2. Multi-core optimizations. If you fly in FS2020, you know. 'Nuff said.
I also hope and pray the new SaaS model works. Recent connection problems (being discussed at length on the MSFS forum) make me nervous about the future.
Ya, a great game that accelerated the acquisition of my pilots license! Careers will further enhance aviation learning just like in the real world!
Re concern 2. This is why the moment they announced 2024 I stopped buying add-ons I was THAT burned! (im fully expecting them to announce MS2028 in another 2 years!) I dont believe anything they say till it comes out and ppl have tested it
I doubt many of the non-aircraft addons will work at all. I imagine the aircraft themselves will work, but only at their current level of fidelity, unless further upgraded to the 2024 flight model. Speaking of flight models, I really hope they give the helicopters some attention. Not many of us have flown them in real life, but if you have, you know incomplete and lacking in fun, the current rotary wing flight model is. Keeping my fingers crossed!
I will not be surprised if PMDG will announce that the 777 will be released for MSFS 2024 only. If so, it’s bye, bye for MSFS for me. Will then go all in for X-Plane instead.
I just want to know if my planes will carry over
We will just have to wait and see
The flight model is my main concern. All the missions and whatnot look great and really interest me, but I hope they didn't take away from the work going into flight models. I also slightly worry that they gear the game more towards the casual gamer and dumb it down.
How is it dumbed down? Because you can do missions? Lol
@@Msfs2024HD I guess you just need to reread the post you commented on 🤷
@@atistang no need to. You said you're worried about the Sim being dumbed down for casual gamers. Was msfs2020 dumbed down?
@@Msfs2024HD no, but Microsoft Flight 2012 was a bit. What I'm getting at is I hope this isn't a situation where due to budget or time constraints they have to choose to skimp on flight models in exchange for all the extra missions. Maybe someone making decisions decided to put more effort into attracting a broader range of gamers vs attracting mostly flight sim enthusiasts.
I don't think this will be the case, but it's possible.
@@atistang well this is not ms flight. I don't think ms is going down that road again. 2 years ago asobo hired Lead Engineer from IL-2 Sturmovik, Andrey (Petrovich) Solomykin. He's one of the leading flight model developers. Google his name. I don't think they would hire him if they wanted to dumb down the sim
I'm not too worried as it's probably time to buy another $5,000 PC.
Hahahaa omg
Had the same situation with xp 11 and xp 12 still waiting for thranda to update my Bae 146 which cost me around $150 nz dollars to xp 12 and the fjs 727/737 to xp 12 ,orbx charged me around $10 nz dolllars to update great Britain to xp 12.probably happen to msfs.
I'm worried that I bought the last one because it would be upgradable for years to come... and it didn't make it four years before they started wanting that wallet again.
Hey men, love your videos, but it seems like you are completely not up to date, they have made it clear that the msfs2020 addons will be able for the player, to convert to msfs2024, and that they will give the developers early acces to the SDK to make use of the new flight model. The last one seems very logic for me, as you stated that with Xp12 you have the same as Xp11 and that devs need to update it to have the new features. Love from Amsterdam brother
Asobo made LOTS of things clear before MSFS 2020 dropped that still haven't happened. We're all just very skeptical this can be delivered this in such a major update. Xplane 11 to 12 was HARDLY a significant upgrade and how many study level addons smoothly transitioned from 11 to 12? Some developers even charged for upgrades! Now I realize MSFS is FAR less of a shitshow than Xplane, but I'm not gonna be surprised when out new sim starts crashing.
@@vincebagadonis8016 Hey men, I dont wanna be that guy but I cant remember asobo saying things before 2020 launch and not including it after. Just for my information, would you mind pointing some out? Cuz I really have trust in this
