When I was a little boy in California, they used to test the air raid sirens and the teachers would teach us “duck and cover” where we’d have to crawl under our desks and wait for the teacher to tell us we can come out. Those air raid sirens used to scare the hell out of me and I’d cry my eyes out. I was in kindergarten and those early grades (1st, 2nd). To this day, the sound of an air raid siren makes my stomach tighten. Even today, they never mean anything good. It’s either a tsunami, a tornado, or you’re getting nuked. This video was a cringe trigger for me. LOL! Thanks for sharing.
For everyone wondering why it says it's a test so many times - notice how it rotates towards a different direction each time? That way, everyone around can hear that it's a test clearly, and not just one general area of which the siren was pointed during the first warning.
Because these ones are programmable with just an SD card. Older sirens are mechanical and can fail easier. These can reach many directions and can play any thing needed.
LlamaFluff Ide very much like to see your source considering this speaker is mechanical as well (because it rotates). a traditional air raid siren is a simple electric engine which emits sound in 360 degrees. The only benefit to this siren is that it can play more than just an air raid tone, but why would that be important? you dont need a siren to distinguish between an air raid, and a tornado, regardless the message is still duck and cover.
You should here the alarm that goes off in oak ridge Tennessee first Wednesday of every month. It’s the nuclear alarm that they test, but it sounds like an air raid alarm. If your not from oak ridge, I’d imagine it’s a shock as they don’t tell you it’s a test at all.

***** So would I.
+Smiley don't go to vault 111 ha ha ha 😄😄😄😄
That's because the siren can't rotate in one direction otherwise it breaks.
@@budgie508 What?
@@MrTurnermason I meant if the siren just rotates past 360 degrees it will just break
@@budgie508 It does not have collector rings so it can't do full 360.
Also the commenter is talking about the voice telling everyone it is a test.
@@Bloxer No need to spit out the obvious, I'm just gonna dip out of here since I've lost my interest in sirens.
Tornado siren: yay I’m the best meme
Nuke siren: hold my radar
Sirenhead: doesn’t matter they all work for me
@@ThomasFarquhar2 yup

@Puppu Jinks the guy who was minding his own business going to a charity deserved to die?
@Puppu Jinks he did do bad things, but not anything bad enough that he deserved to die, he was a better person, and I used to hate him too

Its not scary anymore
Siren head must've eaten a Mexican or some shit and couldn't handle the frijoles
I dont know why, but that speaker creeps me out, also why is it a speaker rather than the traditional engine siren?
Hyperion there are many types of sirens. I think this is a newer one
We have the speaking ones in my town. I hate when they test them. I always feel so damn unsettled and creeped out.
Where I live we have lots of these. You kinda get used to sound. But whenever I see them, it still creeps me out
Am I the only one that loves sirens and alarms? I always get goosebumps, like the Nostromo self destruct sequence alarm is top tier
Walking into math class like...

I love when they test the tornado sirens locally, and when the closest few turn off, you can hear the others in the distance turning off one by one.
Yep because the sound takes a minute to reach you
@@Fo4assaultriflefan92 sound does not travel that slowly my friend.
@@Fo4assaultriflefan92 Sirens can be heard for up to 5 miles and even then the delay is only 4.5-4.7 seconds.
The world would already be over by the time this thing finally went off.
They wouldn't say this is a test if the actual bomb was going off
+Collin Mustico the sirens are not for bombs but for the nuclear emergencies such as a reactor malfunction on one of FPL's numerous reactor sites.
They have to state that it is a test before people actually start panicking.
You should here the alarm that goes off in oak ridge Tennessee first Wednesday of every month. It’s the nuclear alarm that they test, but it sounds like an air raid alarm. If your not from oak ridge, I’d imagine it’s a shock as they don’t tell you it’s a test at all.
so this was only a test???
Jon snoon yes sir
"This is a test"
Me: ok
"Actually, it's not."
Me: *HOLY SHIT*
😂
*The twist of fate*
Waiting for the siren and only hearing "This is a test. This is only a test" had me feeling anxious.
Quite appropriate for a nuclear siren. No up/down notions, no harmonies, just.. AAAAAAaaAAGGGGHHH!!!!!
Was expecting an alarm, not a fax machine.
right!

Thank you
What if we all heard "this is only a test" and we woke up outside the simulation.
I dunno man 🙈
7:49 why do they keep saying this is a test from the beginning of the video?
