4:39 the siren is pitching up because when the rotator shuts down, it diverts power to the chopper motor instead which makes it more powerful and faster
Nah, I believe it went to AC power when It's Powering down with that wild of a fluctuation. It Might've been low on batteries. I Believe that the batteries were low, but very surprising that they still had enough power to rotate the siren Since they Run On DC and When the batteries are Low, They Switch to AC to recharge them while still allowing the siren to sound. At some point if it's running on AC all of the time, then they need to be replaced like at power down where it randomly went to AC power. If the siren didn't have AC power applied to it, It would keep going while gradually losing the ability to make sound until it dies completely which then leads to more battery replacements.
3:54 sounds like a broken record on the words to the song "This Old Man" LOL how's this for these lyrics "This old bolt, high and Low; it's mal-funk-schning, O lord No with a sticky soleoid when will it stop? very soon then it will drop" :D

That Charloe Thunderbolt has been progressively getting worse over the years. A video taken about 5 years back showed it being sick (unable to wind up all the way), but still being able to maintain a steady and decently loud tone. It was about 2-3 years ago that videos started appearing of it sounding like you hear in this video. I also just remembered a video of another 2000 series Whelen having an unusual malfunction, where it started doing the test message before cutting it off with a series of popping sounds. I’ll reply with a link if I find it.
th-cam.com/video/HcV8O2HVo_E/w-d-xo.html Alright, it’s a Whelen WS-2008 in Vernon, CT. The description mentions that it wasn’t a problem with the siren itself, but with the radio (it used live voice).
