You guys got it all wrong. If something that catastrophic happened major agricultural areas like that would no longer be able to sustain themselves and most of that land would actually either just return to nature or become victim of desertification. Modern agricultural practices are only practical due to our modern circumstances they wouldnt be sustainable in a situation like u described. It’d be areas like down south and new england with lots of smaller family farms and lots of intact nature still preserved that would be best suited for survival. Also areas with a maritime industry too. Especially new england imo. If for nothing else simply because most every city in new england was already designed for a time before the comforts of the modern amenities that these other regions truly rely on. New england could lose all modern ammenities n most cities would still be plenty liveable without them. Same cant be said for most of the US

The Dallas-Fort Worth Area is called the Metroplex. It is a complex of several metropolitan areas (200 towns and cities). The Metroplex is the 4th largest metro area in the United States with 7.8 million people. Thats more than Houston or Arizona.
