I appreciate that your critiques don’t try to change the style of the artwork. Like for example, to fix the flat shading, a thing people would do would make it soft shading instead for cell shading, which completely misses the point of it being cell shading. But you kept the cell shading to fit the style and technique, and you instead focused on making it look better by thinking about the form You also do a good job at pointing out what people did well and what you like about their artworks. A proper critique is about being helpful and constructive, which means pointing out what was good and finding what could be done differently next time. You strike this balance in such a healthy way and I think it’s wonderful!
Your advice is really good. I have the same issue with the arms too. I copy everything directly from reference to have correct anatomy but it turns out looking flat... Now I realized I don't have to copy everything one to one
man i didnt even know there were different categories of clothing folds.. no wonder i cant seem to figure out how to draw folds, i guess i have to research them now :P
Hai! I've recently got back into drawing, rn I'm using pencil and paper btw. Anyways, I found your channel yesterday and it has been very helpful with some of my problems and was wondering if you had any suggestions for accessories if/when I get a drawing tablet.
For the first drawing. I thought that the character was opening a glass door/window. The shading looked like the forearm was being pressed against something. Based of the character of the original which gave of more of a psychopath vibe. I imagine a seen where you look at your window to see him sliding it open, breath visible from the cold air outside.(original had some sort of steam coming from his mouth.)
Might be a dumb question, but say someone (no one in particular) was to request assistance from you with their drawing(s), how might one go about doing so. Say that someone has been drawing for a couple years now and the more that someone draws the more issues seem to pop up and it’s feels like that person is getting worse and worse at drawing as time goes on. 😅
Does she have a discord? I would love to be able to speak with other artists who can help me. I have been drawing for about 12ish days after having quit for nearly 15ish years and would love to be able to have some ppl to help me learn. Everything I am producing now is very clearly that of an uber-beginner.
2:59 i feel like there’s a slight problem with the anatomy of the collar bone? it looks a bit too long, like around the shoulder area of the arm pose. correct me if i’m wrong
I recently got a [TOTALLY LEGIT CUS POOR AND RUSSIAN] clip studio paint, and so far i understand nothing there ;-; But because of this video i tried out shading. And i still have no idea what I'm doing
We all started somewhere, those "better" artists also had a phase where they weren’t as experienced Give yourself some time, practice and it will get better And most importantly; drop the comparisons, they’re your #1 enemy: Other artists aren’t your rivals, they are your inspiration Good luck on your art journey
dont give it up, drawing is a great hobby to have. all good artists had 'bad' art at some point, they just dont post it which unintentionally gives the illusion that they were always good. art isnt a talent people are born with, its a skill that needs to be honed. practice makes progress! i had the same mindset as you a few years ago and nowadays im really happy with my art.

Your advice is really good. I have the same issue with the arms too. I copy everything directly from reference to have correct anatomy but it turns out looking flat... Now I realized I don't have to copy everything one to one
I'm genuinely impressed by this artwork, prefer it more than the reference
I love your Vtuber model it's simple so it doesn't distract from what your teaching yet has a cutesy pixel art style💜
As a beginner I'm not on shading yet but still here to drop a comment to appease the algorithm gods.
You always manage to telepathically understand what I'm struggling with in my art at the moment and then upload a video on it
Shape of shadow always adds up to the result, love it❤
man i didnt even know there were different categories of clothing folds.. no wonder i cant seem to figure out how to draw folds, i guess i have to research them now :P

Everyone’s art is better than mine even the “bad ones” I’m just gonna give up at this point
