Hates color and loves lineart? FINALLY! I'm not a alone! I have found one of my people. The amount of times I've heard people say that coloring was their favorite part of the process when I have always found it the most boring and tedious part of it all, always made my mind boggle. Line art and inking techniques are the most fun and interesting part to me.
i agree, except i am awful at both and that deprives me from the fun of it. (cant pick good color harmonies and cant draw smooth lines, it always ends up on the messy side because i didnt learn anatomy that well...)
I find it offensively distracting. Multitasking when doing art is very detrimental. You might see playing a game as taking a break, but the truth is that it'll permanently affect your focus and energy span for the rest of the day. I think doctor K and Marc Brunet have talked about this.
oh i'm so happy to know another artist who feel the same way about lineart! the hate campaign against lineart recently is something i truly feel is undeserved 🥺
You should check out Heo SungMoo's art, and TB Choi's Basically if people are good enough, or insanely good level like the artists mentioned above then there'll not be any complain, if they do, that's just anti-society hate lol
You say that you are stupid for not using reference, but I look at it as sheer genius for being able to pull through an Armor design like that without looking up anything.😮
@@_sn0wbl00d that just doesn't make sense at all. Basically every professional artists use reference. Even Gi himself did.... it has nothing to do with being an expert or not. Especially since so many beginners do not use reference
I feel you here. I like sketchy styles by some artists with not only imperfect lineart or coloring but even sometimes with imperfect anatomy... but I have to try so hard to stop myself from perfecting my own pieces on all stages. Still can't bring myself to like my own scrible-like takes while loving some other's scrible-like pieces, it's actually so hard to make appealing 'rough' pieces haha.
The notes for the different art terminology used throughout the video were really nice! As someone who’s pretty bad at remembering what different terms can refer to I appreciate the effort that would’ve went into including them : ›
Loved the drawing. I'm not personally a fan of inking but I admire people who can do it. My brain also sucks at colour so I love sketches and inked pieces the most. Thanks!
It's legit such a great thing that pikat decided to do TH-cam as well now, I love her content and her art, legit one of the artists I admire and hope to be able to get to that level aswell. I will be looking forward for more content 😊
Discovered you channel just recently. Your art is awsome, and as an artist myself, I do relate to a lot of struggles that you talk about! Especially the struggle of feeling that you draw WAY too slowly, when looking at how other artists do just fine without a sketch. Your words actually made me realise that, yeah, I shouldn't go too hard on myself and just speedrun a drawing. In the end of the day, for me, it's all about the fun of creating! We're not speedrunners, we're artists, and as any skill goes, we should take our sweet time to grow and learn. Thank you for your content, keep it up! Your art (and, ofc, your YT channel) deserves attention!!
This actually sounds like a fun exercise. I've always wanted to try my hand at creative solutions to not being able to use shading and color, like halftoning and specific brushes and pens. Sounds rlly cool ngl.
This was a really good video and an incredible drawing ❤ Regarding the Kim Jung Gi approach I’ve definitely fallen into that before, but I found it really enjoyable when I was able to get a decent result out of it so my approach became limited construction. I’ll draw out the guidelines I need for things I don’t understand / can’t recall well such as the perspective of the arm in certain poses and more so free hand the other elements I do understand / can recall better. It keeps the drawing process fun while also making sure each element is well drawn since visually drawing out the elements I don’t understand helps me fix it more accurately
I do music as a hobby and holy shit it's so relatable, reworking the draft over and over again until the base structure is set and good, then refining to completion and re-recording and editing stuff just takes forever. Some of the drafts stayed unfinished and forgotten for a few years before I returned back to them with new skills and motivation. I'm still figuring out how to be more productive, but I think I finally accepted how slow things go. I'm glad I found this channel! The videos are insightful and entertaining.
Watching the process of other artists help me a bunch. And when I saw the thumbnail with all of the hatching I was really really interested. It's beautiful and I want to learn it. Seeing this art of Heather is inspiring!! Thank you
the videos at the bottom left are really giving me subway surfers minecraft AITA tiktoks... i love it instead of sketching, i will sometimes do a sketch and then clean it up, instead of doing lineart ...
Girl I love you and your style. I've been struggling to paint since I got a new job, and have been trying to work up the energy to take out a canvas but you're helping pull me out of it
Gonna leave a heartfelt one for algorithm 'n' love of your work ❤ It is incredible and inspiring that you were able to make such a drawing without references. Personally my art devolves into caveman etchings without one. From my experience starting out out in art I learned two things quickly; 1) Take your time. I once thought that the measure of a good artist is the ability to crap out perfect sketches at light speed. Instead I just applied knee crowbars to my drawings by rushing. 2) USE REFERENCES PLEASE BURN EYE HOLES INTO YOUR REFERENCE. Being able to draw this well without a reference is an awesome display of experience and well-developed fundamentals. Keep it up skibidi toilet miku woman.
I love Heather's design (and name, especially because of its origins)! The resignation in deciding to go ahead and add what you were hoping to avoid all along is entirely too relatable. XD
I'm a 3d/cg artist now, you reminded me when I was young the only tool I used to draw was a ballpoint pen because I hated the look of cheap school pencils. Every drawing was pretty much yolo specially since I have always hated doing the same thing over and over.
Drawing with imagination is another muscle to grow, that is coming from drawing from reference. It is true, once you draw with observation you now have basic memory library now to be kept for next usage.
The hands being a problem for future you had me nearly spit out my drink, because I tend to do that too. "Hard? Well, do I have a surprise for you, future me!"
I just came back to drawing after two years of art block and laziness. Hopefully this time I actually get better. And this channel popped up. My art style is monochrome type cuz color is stupid(I'm bad at colors) And I love the final output, this is similar to what I want to achieve
Honsetly learned a lot from this video, very interesting process all in all! I looove color and not that good at grayscale and hatching/lineart even thought I know working on my values would improove my coloring as well, the colors are just too tempting and I even end up doing my studies in color and don't really practice with just values/back and white OTL
I think I fidn your channel about commissions and I was struggling with some other channel that were talking too fast (I'm 36, so old), but I like the way you handle it and make it funny
damn, so cool, i love that. I hate coloring too, as a child I always drew with a pen during school lessons and that thing got back to me a bit, I really tried to start colouring, but I can't, the pen always calls me back, so... "TEAM PEN ONLY"
The last minute chicken wings commentary was wilddddd. I cannot unseee. From beautiful biblically accurate angel to with a body to bald to bald chicken wings TT_TT HEATHERRR IM SORRYYY
Ah yes, I too have a Very Logical Method to my drawing. Suuuuuuper thought out and based on composition and speed... not at all based on what I wanna draw and dont wanna draw.
i absolutely have the issue where i avoid doing sketch layers and taking my time, but not for any other reason than im just impatient asf and need new visual stimulation or i get bored and jump over to the next drawing oop straight to lineart 90% of the time and I'm probably worse for it lmao
I always struggle with tiny details knowing that you're not to zoom in a lot, I either zoom in or not do them at all T^T but with "Fake details" I may not have to worry as much. I'll definitely give it a try thanks :D
i mean perosnally for the sketch thing, i cannot do sketches well. when i go straight to a lineart phase, it turns out SO GOOD in comparison to when i do sketches. and i don't think it's a skill, but a preference, for me :3
As a person with a 7head, can confirm she's got a 9head. Also I likey the wings they look majestic. I now wanna ask if she can smite and or shoot lasers outbof her eyes.
I love how you’re just watching the most random stuff while drawing this 😭💀

yeah. drawing without reference to me, means the person is an expert at what they are drawing, or just know what they're doing
It's called memory, everything is stored in your brain, you just can't always remember it consciously
@@zappers8027 yeah. i also want to mention that as people keep drawing the same subject, they'll get used to it, and eventually master drawing it.
