  • This is Side Two of the LP recording 'Sounds of the West Somerset' [RESM 018]. These are recordings made in 1978 and 1979 on the heritage West Somerset Railway. The heritage railway had only started operating in 1976 with just a few locomotives. There is more variety of sounds than on Side One with the inclusion of the Bagnall 0-6-0ST (with chime whistle) and the Park Royal dmu. There are also some nice signal box sounds.
    The sound quality of the recordings is very good. They are attributed to Aspal Productions and the stereo LP was released by Response Records in 1979.

      Yes, it's much more interesting than Side One. I particularly like the signal box sounds as that is not often recorded.
