- 8th Man Episode 28: At Centre Station, the railroad depot Chief Fumblethumbs and his men are puzzled when a misplaced shipping crate yields a strange object: a robotic arm. While 8th Man is examining the arm two visiting "reporters" arrive from the Republic of Armaco demanding to see the what was found at the train station and successfully tell the Chief what is inside the box demanding it be turned over to them. Then we learn that they are really Dr. Status and Samantha 007, a super-robot who the arm belongs to - Status reveals his true purpose: locate the 8th robot stolen by Prof. Genius and return it to Armaco.

As a kid growing up in the 60's, 8thMan was one of my favorite cartoons. I can still remember rushing home from school and watching it on WPIX Channel 11. This episode was my all time favorite, I actually cried at the end when Samantha7 was killed. Thanks for posting these classics.
+Marc Anthony WPIX one of the few independent stations actually left, still owned by Tribune Broadcasting I think (haven't looked in a few years). When I lived back East loved that channel. I was born about 10 years to late to catch 8thman :(

This is a great cartoon!! Up there with Astro boy and Marine boy!! I used to watch these cartoons back in 1968 with my friends after school!! These episodes should be regarded as classics as they don't make them like that anymore!!

The only episode I remember watching when I was young; I saw all of them, many times. IMO, the best story of the entire series.

Family moved to Brisbane 1967. I absolutely loved this cartoon. I didn't see it again after moving back to New Zealand. Until now!
Used to watch these every day on KPLR channel 11. Haven’t seen these in decades. These episodes should be considered classics. 8th Man rules... the real original Robocop.
8th Man, Astroboy, Marineboy, Prince Planet, Speed Racer, Gigantor, Kimba the White Lion, Battle of the Planets, Macross, StarBlazers...just some of the Japanese cartoons I and many of my generation watched from the 60's to the 90's....great stuff....

This is definitely one of the best episodes in the series. Right next to "Battle of the Brothers" where 8-Man fights Ken. Interestingly, the 1992 live action movie was based on Battle of the Brothers.
this is my first exposure to this cartoon and my son and i love it. i guess my earliest anime memory would only include prince planet in b&w on wsns in chicago. later would include speed racer on wfld. there are flashbacks of gigantor, but just bits not entire episodes.
This cartoon series marks some of my earliest memories as a child. Astro Boy and Prince Planet also go back that deep

Yep. This episode and the ones with Pounce the Robot Tiger and Ken, Dr. Genius' son were my faves. (Of course, I also had something of a crush on Marcia Trim, too.)

Before 8th Man Asian actor Ken Utsi played a character called Starman who was very similar and also a robot. I think it's more than a coincidence
This was my favorite 8th Man Episode. I really wish Samantha 7 could have been repaired and used for good instead of evil. I would have enjoyed seeing them fight as a team!
Yeah this is one of the favorite episodes. That was the first and last time we saw Samantha 7 :(

Do you remember Rodger Ramjet used to get his powers from a super energy pill. Funny I saw that cartoon being played on the Christian Network for some reason they never got the idea that he was a drug addict

Best of the Japanese 60's anime, stories are so good that they could be use today. Just needs to be colorized.....
Not bad at all for the 60’s….lol. I would love for a team to update the animation and story. Is Jenny Sachiko in 8 man after. I remember In The beginning she mentioned how Azuma-San was 8 man and never told her. There was a pic o.n the table with a man lol boy and her. I’m guessing that was her? I really wanna know the story before everything happens
Shame you can't hear anything. This is one of the few episodes I've never seen. Never mind. Found a much better quality version with the correct title too.
I use to love this cartoon, I actually got my father's Camel's cigarettes (unlit of course) and pretended that it replenished my strength like his did....don't judge me.

Samantha 7 makes strange noises. If this show were to see a more up to date reboot, she should give Samantha more of a personality. I would like to see Ken in it as well.

There was also another "Samantha" that 8th Man met later in the series- "Samantha, the Nuclear Witch".
That episode is just called "Nuclear Witch" I can't remember if Samantha 7 is in that one? Don't think so.
The "Nuclear Witch" character was also named "Samantha" (a topical nod to "BEWITCHED", at the time this was dubbed). "Samantha 7" was not seen in that one....

+James Firmiss (IznbranahlGoose) It's a history people tend to forget. Japan wasn't always loved by main stream culture as they are today. After WW2 there was still a lot of resentment so it was not a selling point for the market. Since they didn't want to market it as a "Japanese" cartoon they went out of their way to hide that it was.
I grew up on anime and manga from the 60's. Got a flash for you amigo, that resentment still exists.
Yes I remember in some episodes they made some lame attempts to explain away the Japanese names on some buildings and on the placard on Fumblethumb's desk.

I like how un PC these cartoons are. It makes me loathe mmodern culture more for its depictions of men.
