    The csc files are not the same.. Here it is explained :)
    CSC - If you flash the CSC file, it’ll perform a factory reset of your Galaxy device and wipe all data while installing a new firmware to bring your device to the same state as it was when you purchased it. Go with CSC if you want a clean installation.
    HOME_CSC - On the other hand, if you want to keep your Samsung phone’s data and settings even flashing the stock firmware, you can select the HOME_CSC file.

    Thank you so much. I was flashing stock android using odin on my s7 edge but just used the AP file and experienced problems with the keyboard and repetitions of setting options (after it was done) . But when I re flashed it using all the files i.e. BL, CP , AP and CSC (NOT Home CSC), it worked for me.

    I'm all new to this, but I managed to get into the menu to reset to factory settings on an s8 with unresponsive screen. There's an error message fail to open recovery - cause: no such file or directory.
    I used Odin with the correct firmware and everything proceeds as normal. But in the end the phone is stuck on the first page of the setup.
    When I go into the recovery mode, it shows the same error of fail to open recovery...

    Hi, Great video! I just have a question. I have a Chinese S8 which i bought during a trip there but I would like to make it to run same firmware as the phones back home here in Sweden. Should I pick the Swedish firmware which i want to change to? If i pick the firmware that is stored in my phone, then i will just get a newer Chinese firmware right?

    • @MaowDroid
      @MaowDroid  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that would be about right, I couldn't really find anything about the models that they sell in Sweden, but I'd make sure the processors are the same (model would be better), since the Asian ones should have Snapdragons, but I'm not sure about those in Europe/Eurasia.

    • @MaowDroid

    Really great video, Thanks!! Consider getting a SM-G955FD (Singapore/Malaysia) but is it necessary to flash the stock firmware to Australian firmware? Would you still be able to use those services e.g. Samsung Pay with SM-G955FD stock firmware?

      I would venture to say its not necessary. Perhaps, you might need to do a factory reset with an Australian SIM inserted. If that doesn't allow you to use Samsung Pay, then we might need to flash the Australian firmware, which should be no problem. :)

      Since it's just a .zip file, are you able to use the archive viewer that's built into Windows? It seems like you might have a corrupt download. It's hard to check as Updato doesn't provide hash sums for each download for you to verify.
      I'd try downloading it again, or using either the built-in 'zip viewer' in Windows or 7-zip and see what they say about your downloaded file.

      US Unlocked S8+ firmware: updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?q=SM-G955U1&exact=1&r=XAA&v=&rpp=15

    Do you think you could make a video explaining how to flash different carrier Modems? e.g., Flashing T-Mobile radio stuff on the unlocked GS8 to use the 4x4 MIMO and 256QAM. There's a lot of confusion since there isn't a clear guide on it yet.

    • @MaowDroid
      @MaowDroid  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Maxwell, sorry I was meaning to respond to you earlier.
      So, I did some digging because I did read along the lines of '4x4 MIMO and 256QAM' somewhere. Since the Snapdragon and Exynos versions are different, it's a little difficult to grasp as well.
      Apparently this is a guide (see 3rd post for the 'switch carrier' guide): forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s8/how-to/eng-boot-root-t3608353
      I would imagine that doing so will trip KNOX. Also, you'll need to download the factory firmware for the T-Mobile variant of the S8.

    How about if my s8+ is sm-g955x does it work on sm-g955f? Thanks

    • @MaowDroid
      @MaowDroid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might be able to flash the G955F firmware on your X device, if they've got the same CPU/SoC. The model of your device shouldn't matter if you're just flashing the firmware that is made for the G955X.
      But generally speaking the firmware is interchangeable as long as they are the same hardware variation.

  • @cazieco1242

    Tip: the Home_CSC will not wipe your data. It only removes the root access. The Magisk app will still be on the phone(without root access) but you can't uninstall it. It's better to start with a fresh OS. I recommend you to flash using CSC file not the HOME_CSC.

    • @MaowDroid
      @MaowDroid  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the clarification! The Magisk Manager app should be able to be uninstalled since it's installed as a user app. Also, would flashing just the carrier customisation unroot it? I was thinking that AP was the file that contained the stock system, recovery, boot, etc. images.

    • @cazieco1242
      @cazieco1242 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      MaowDroid when you root the device, the magisk app is installed as a system app. So when you unroot using the Home_CSC , the custom binaries for the super-user access is removed but the system apps are kept untouched. So, the magisk app will remain on the phone with out root access. As we all know without root access, it's not possible to remove the system apps. And about the boot img, the AP file contains everything. Just flashing the CSC won't remove the root access. All the steps in the video has to be followed.

    Hi. Tks for the video, it helps a lot. I would like to know if you can answer me one doubt that I have.
    I bought a S8 from china. New, but full of weird stuff happening in the phone. Weird Adds, strange files on system apps list... Anyway, trying to solve it, after factory reset did nothing, I see your video and other ones telling the same. Flash it, and it will be ok! Awesome. Few days into discovering how to do it and it seems I have a bigger problem than I thought.
    Looking for my firmware, I can find the right model on UPDATO or XDA... but I can´t find the correct PDA version or even the right rom for my buildnumber. I searched in a few places but no luck. My guess it is that it was tempered with before getting to me, since also some sistem files look suspicious.
    My question is, could I use a different firmware? What would be my options to make my phone reliable if I don´t find the correct firmware?
    Thank you very much for your video.

    • @MaowDroid
      @MaowDroid  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A Chinese S8 should have an unlocked bootloader, so I don't think PDA version would strictly matter. As for finding a ROM, you just need to make sure that it works with your model number.
      You should be able to use a different firmware as long as it's for the Snapdragon S8, preferably the Chinese S8 model. What's your S8's model number? I can take a look for you if you want.

      Thank you so much for your effort in helping me. I switched phones, to a, also chinese, galaxy note 8. But i figured something else. All I am getting are replicas, made of cheap parts. For instance, my camera should be 12mp but on mine is only 3mp. GPS fails constantly and so many other annoying things... That happened beacuse I wasnt carefull enough to find a trustworthy seller, and got excited about gatting a AAA phone paying little money. My fault and it wont happen again. I intend now, either keep this knockoff but try to put better parts on it... change camera, change battery, change gps (don´t even know if its possible) and see if it is worth to keep it for a while, or just put them in the garbage and start again, now wiser.
      Thank you again!
