Matthew lilard got the part for shaggy without actually auditioning because before the audition he wanted to get his voice scratchy so he just screamed in his car for 30 minutes, the director saw him doing that and just gave him the part, I think he does it pretty well.

I remember like a year ago seeing a rap video video with Shaggy and I was amazed at how accurate the voice sounded. I found this video today, I wondered if you were the same guy who voiced those rap videos, and so I looked through your channel and found out that you are indeed the same guy, lol.

Matthew Lillard in a short TH-cam video tells his story on how he thought of the idea of Shaggy’s voice. He said that he was in his car in the parking lot of Warner Bros. Studios and he was screaming top of his lungs til he ruined his voice and some dude tapped on his window with a laugh on his face asking if he was ok. so moral of the story is that to do Shaggy’s official real voice, you gotta scream at the top of your lungs til you ruin your voice. once your voice is ruined. make sure you lower your voice enough to the point you sound like Shaggy.

Honestly, after watching this, I only heard Scott Innes' Shaggy. Casey Kasem definitely gave a different tone than this video portrays.
Like, even though I haven’t watched much Scooby-Doo media, that Casey Kasem Shaggy impression is so spot on, man! I can see why you don’t like Matthew Lillard, but to be totally fair, he’s probably the best Shaggy, next to Casey! Zoinks!
I actually learned how to do Shaggy voice by listening to Matthew Lillard because IMO his version is the easiest to imitate.

@@ShaggyMatPat Well here’s a trick I learned and it helped me imitate Shaggy’s voice. Get your voice high, started cracking it, and try saying things Shaggy says in tv shows and/or movies. Also voice impressions don’t have to sound exactly like the character, unless that’s what you’re aiming for but it just has to sound similar to it. So if you can’t you can’t do a spot on impression, try to do something similar to it. It’s a lot of tutorials that can help you out on TH-cam go check them out.

@@ShaggyMatPat Like I said it doesn’t have to be on point, it just has to sound similar. Some of my Simpsons character impression doesn’t sound exactly like Dan Castallaneta, Hank Azaria, or Harry Shearer but it’s similar to it. All I can say is keep practicing and hopefully you’ll get better at it.

In my opinion, Matthew Lillard does a good Shaggy voice, but Casey Kasem will always be the best one. (Will Forte tried voicing Shaggy, but he failed.)

I'm sorry; I hate to be that guy, but the voice impression that you are teaching is not Casey Kasem's Shaggy. The Shaggy voice you are emulating is the one from the 1990's-2000's that was voiced by Scott Innes.
Like I said, I'm sorry to be that guy. Casey's Shaggy never got high-pitched and breathy like Scott's.
