    Lucas, prince of darkness strikes again. The charging system on the TR-6 is inoperative. On a 12 volt system you want 13.8 to 14.2 volts with the engine running. 11 is not going to cut it. 9:05

    I had a '67 E-Type Roadster I bought in 1974 and sold in 1983. In the Army and reassigned to Germany with wife and baby. Not practical to take with us. Wanted to buy another but the prices went up significantly in the four years we were overseas. Still my all-time favorite car.

    Nice to see over the bonnet of an E-Type again, great car, TR6 was fun, easy to maintain, but a lot of clueless people were hard pressed to keep them running right, but they shouldn't have had one to begin with,

    76 Midget, 67 Austin Healy 3000 BJ8, 71 XKE 4.2, TR 6, Lancia Zagoto TVR 280 I, Ferrari 328 GTS, Ferrari 348 Spyder, XK8 in that order then I retired and off to Mexico. Favorite 348 Spyder a monster and bulletproof.

    I ran into a man who lives in our part of Flagstaff who was putting gas in his 1964 XKE (as I learned, that is what we call the e-type in the states because of the XK engine). The original owner died some decades before and the widow kept it in a heated shed until fairly recently. It has flawless original tan paint and red interior, with careful restoration on the whole machine. I'll have to look for him again at the next Route 66 car show in Flagstaff, sometime in the summer. Just being near it made my ears start to ring.

    I've had a lot of the American Muscle cars, 66 GTO, my all time favorite. They were easy to work on and maintain. Every one that had an automatic trans in it broke, so it was switched to a manual trans. Problem solved. The XKEs TR 250s and MGBs are great. Didn't have any trouble with them. They too were all manual trans cars.

    The Toyota GT 2000 is a lovely car if you are five foot six or less. The two cars made for the bond film had to have the roof removed so Shawn Connery could fit. To Toyota's credit they didn't even twitch when asked and made two convertibles just for the film. I don't think bond ever drove the car that was done by a Japanese girl in the film

      100% correct about the 2KGT never being driven by Bond. Even after chopping the roofs off, Sean Connery was still too large to drive the car, so they reassigned it to a female costar.

    I agree with Joe some of the Datsuns should be on the list ! I’ve owned many British cars and a 68 Mustang the British cars were all fun to drive but you better know how to turn wrenches to keep them going well and they are best To have as a toy or weekend driver because the reliability isn’t there especially with the electrical and rusting conditions that short out the grounding systems

    The 1969 TR6 originally came with dual Strombergs not SU's. The 1968 TR5 was fuel injected, however the U.S. version TR250 was the first year for dual Stromberg carbs.

    • @PimpMyReel
      @PimpMyReel 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK, Lets put everyone straight!!!
      Robert Hein, you are wrong, TR6 and TR7 never had anything to do with the Stag model except sharing a few parts!!!
      Steve Gale you are also wrong Stag and TR6 Did share engines for a time!
      The first 1970/71 Triumph Stags had a 2.5 litre 150bhp, 164ft/lbs straight 6 cylinder motor out of the Triumph 2.5 TC Saloon and TR6, it was excellent re power to weight for the time! The down side was the fuel injection system which leaked like a sieve!!
      Unfortunately someone at Triumph had the idea of taking two very unreliable Triumph Dolomite 1.5 litre engines and putting them together to make a 3.0 litre V8 with Alloy heads and twin carburettors that only put out 145BHP. This was done because Triumph were after more Torque But they did not get it). The V8 delivered 170 ft/lbs of torque. This engine went into the Triumph Stag from 1972
      The TR7 had a Triumph Dolomite 2 litre 16 valve 4 cylinder engine out of the mighty Dolomite Sprint!!! It had 150bhp and 142ft/lbs of torque.
      The front end was made to look like a Lotus although the TVR 350i also bears a similarity! I have one of these with the 3.5 V8 similar to a TR8 but with injection and 197 bhp and 220ft/lbs making it a much quicker car!
      TR8 had a Rover/Buick 3.5 V8 with 137 bhp & 168 ft/lbs and twin carburettors
      Nuff Said!

    • @charlesyeo8660
      @charlesyeo8660 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just wanted to say all of you have some of the facts but none of know all of them.
      1 Stags were never fitted with a straight 6.
      2 The 3 litre V8 was not made from two Dolomite 1500 engines.3 TR7 s had a 2 litre 8 valve engine.
      4 Very few parts were common to all of the models.

    • @PimpMyReel
      @PimpMyReel 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Charles Yeo
      First 20 stags from 1970/71 had 2.5 straight 6. Google it and FWI I owned a UK J reg (1971) 2.5 straight 6 Triumph Stag! 😏

    • @jasonspencer15
      @jasonspencer15 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean?? Stag was a completely different model.....As the only shop specializing in the Triumph Stag in Los Angeles during the 70's 80's and 90's I await an explanation...yes A v-8 or the two halves of a Tr-7 running together....also a much better looking car due to its Italian coach builder body.... Mom had a white one, Dad had a red one and on the weekends we drove the yellow one....My father drove ours every day for years including out to Palm Springs in the summertime and never left us stranded once!!!!!!

    Dayem, NEVER get tired of looking @ the 69 Camaro !
    Jag e-type i never liked when younger but it's a car i can appreciate when older.I bet the designers who made the vette were in love with this car.
    Toyota 2000 GT reminds me of a poor mans Lamborghini Miura & by no means does the 2000 GT look bad.The only thing i found weird when seeing this car for the 1st time was placement of mirrors.
    WHo the hell doesn't love the charger unless your gen Z for ZERO !

    Any 'sporty looking' vehicle with an automatic transmission, isn't worth calling a sportscar. Automatic transmissions are for those who are either too stupid or too lazy to handle a manual one.

    Road runner over a Pontiac GTO?
    No ford falcon xy gtho phase 3 literally the fastest 4door production car for a whole decade, or its competitor a holden GTS. No ferraris, lambos or corvettes in the list. No aston martins or minis where were the mercs or porcshe.
    A triumph and an alfa romeo did not deserve to be in the list at all.
    Shit list.

    Chuck all that American junk out leaving an early Mustang. The E_type, a couple of English sportscars......then everything else Italian, take your pick.

      Chuck out all European cars as they are over hyped, over priced, and over rated. The spare parts are hard to get and very expensive, plus not many performance mods available. Give me a Nova, Comet, Galaxy/Fairlane, you know muscle!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @charliecopeland390

      Allan Byrne All our race cars are not built in UK. Only if raced in Europe. Duhhh! British have great cars don't get me wrong. Germany, and Italy also. But for the money, at half the cost we can put better et's on the strip. Most americans don't care for european style road racing. We have our muscle cars and you have what ever you call it. We are very happy with our cars. I have owned 64 1/2 Mustang convertable, 64 Impala SS, 66 GTO, 73 Camaro. Many others also. Good luck my friend!

    • @allanb52
      @allanb52 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is some American logic, we Europeans identify your cars as being junk...because we are jealous? You think we want to build rubbish cars? Well I am sure not all your countrymen are stupid, but you certainly qualify, just enjoy you gaudy rustbuckets........or try one of the old British cars you guys imported my the millions and still enjoy.

    • @charliecopeland390
      @charliecopeland390 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Allan Byrne Oh come on Allen, we import so many for spare parts! Cheaper by the dozen. We don't need 20hp/per litre. We can kill ourselves with half that cause our engines are so much bigger. Answer me this?! Why does it cost twice as much to build a car that is faster than one of ours? And by the way brother, Merry Christmas! Yoy know we would Not allow a muslim to talk crap to you, even though we do. We like British cars. Who doesn't. We love talking shit too!
