I really can't describe what this arrangement does to me emotionally, how it pulls you through an unknown spectrum of pain and beauty, without any predictable music structure, as if you were pulled blindly through waves but you surrender to it.

This is the song I discovered when my dad passed away 3 years ago and I kept playing it over and over again. I didn't listen to Persian music before that. These kinda of traditional classical Persian concerts aren't usually for fun. They're just art. Very official art exhibition for those with better taste. Great if you have fun listening to them but they aren't done for fun. Very respectful demeanor and atmosphere is because of that. He has the lyrics in front of him bc it is like an orchestra playing music and everyone has them
As an Iranian, I'm glad you listened to this music. Homayoun Shajarian is the son of Mohammad Reza Shajarian, who is a master of Iranian vocal music. As an Iranian, I may be biased, but there is no one in the world who can sing like Homayoun Shajarian. Traditional Iranian music is based on vocal compositions, and few can sing like him. Homayoun Shajarian is exceptional

Shahjarian is truly the master…..the orchestra is also is singing this song with him…..that’s the beauty of classical Persian music…..the music is singing as well…that’s why everyone is feeling the emotion just as Shahjarian does. The Lyrics are hard to translate as Farsi phrases can not be truly understood unless you speak the language ….and know the culture as well. Wish everyone could understand this beautiful song…..even though just listening to it brings such emotions……

The best way to enjoy this magnificent piece is to understand the lyrics of it in its original language and the feeling each word carries, that means learning farsi is the best way to fully understand this kind of poetry. No translation will transform the same feeling to you. That's my opinion
I love listening to Homayoun Shajarian and have been thinking about how translation doesn't get all the nuances of Farsi but we're also talking Sufi writings which is a whole other dimension. Beautiful music. Rips my soul to shreds. I can easily listen to him all day. Because my soul drinks thirstily.

The traditional Iranian( Persian) Music is normally formed from the poetry of the Persian poets from 5-7-10 centuries ago or even farther back , the music and lyrics come together to form the Persian Opera( ASSIL=Traditional) music / songs.
what makes this music so unique is that how the music sends the message of the song, the feeling that you have when someone leaves you and you miss them so much. For me, this music is how I feel this restlessness feeling in my mind and body.

would love to see a reaction to his song called "gholab" or also called " tasnif gholab" . its a poem based song and its just amazing with the instruments played in the song. oh and its also slow paced as you'd like presumably
Nina Homayoun Shajarian learned this style from her father since she was 4 or 5 years old. It is not easy to read from script. It is a very difficult task. Only at the age of 15 or 18, her father allowed her to participate in concerts. You grow old this way.

But trust me on this, You'd be listening to Persian music in a whole another level when you actually speak Persian and know how deep the lyrics touches your soul, You'd be amazed how much massive emotions you are missing right now, There are so many things that are un-translatable and un-portable to other cultures that'd take at least decades to get a glimpse if not a lifetime :)

What I find really cool is the fact that after listening to the climax of the song, even without knowing the lyrics, you looked up (9:26) and I can actually see the emotional effect of the lyrics in your eyes, which we can usually see in the eyes of people who understand and know the lyrics. I don't know, it just felt cool to see the effect it has on me on someone who doesn't even know the lyrics (until then). :)

It’s classical Persian music and bc of that all the band wearing formal and sitting; in other way, that’s the classic artist’s style.
The lyrics originally from one of the Iranian writers / poets from decades ago. He is very technical singer and he is the master of eastern techniques; if somebody understands eastern music so he will amazed by Homayoon’s singing ability and talent. I really liked your reaction video¡ thank you ☺️

Actually there is a very sad story about the poem! Homayoun managed to rehearse this song for the poet Mrs Simin Behbahani a month before her passing. I think they even recorded this visit and the occasion of presenting the song to poet
