Dear nina in iranian traditional music we called it question and answer, the vocal ask something and the instruments answer that question and both of them use a group of common notes. Both vocal and music only speak together when they are saying a same thing or when they emphasize on it . Its hard to explain it in English unfortunately but I hope you understood. And i have to say that mohammadreza shajarian is an unforgettable legend of Iranian music in our time god bless him 🙏

he was a legend but he's very old here. you need to check out his voice at his young ages to grasp how unbelievably beautiful his voice was. it's very unfair to him to be introduced with this clip.

He is STILL a legend . Of course he’s older here and vocal cards , lung capacity , diaphragmatic breathing is much harder as we get older . True that when he was younger , his voice was much smoother but I’ll bet he had cancer here and didn’t know it yet . My brother and shajarian were in the same class . Their teacher came to our house and said that my brother had a much better voice than shajarian but my father said “ I don’t want my son to become a “ motreb”. My dad wouldn’t pay for his lessons . It broke my brother .. he’s 78 and is sad , alone and smokes a lot but my God even now when he sings …. Every family member says : “ your voice … it gives us goose bumps “. It makes me cry … that my father took away what my brother had such talent in and broke him in pieces !

Persia was the largest empire to this date … Cyrus the great wrote the first declaration of human rights and freed the Jewish slaves from Babylon .530 BC. George Washington had that cylinder of human rights translated from the ancient language cuneiform and eventually it be came part of the American constitution/ amendments . Yet the Europeans ( mostly the British ) brought African slaves into America . It’s only been 300 years since slavery ended in the US. Even still to this day america low key racist toward the black community. So yes Persia is very ancient . Persian invented the battery , the first physician who discovered opium as a pain killer was Persian , the first physician to study the body ( a cadaver ) was Persian , those instruments were all created by Persians ( tar means string but has other meanings too ) so guitar / setar etc came from Persia . Setar has 3 strings “ se” means “3”.
Persia / iran is where poetry , peace , tolerance and respect for other cultures , gardens , flowers are cherished . Music is THE most important part of Persia . Unfortunately, the British, French and US have destroyed that country countless times for oil and natural gas . They’ve integrated with a sovereign, peaceful nation so many times and now 41-2 years after Carter out khomini in power , Persians are fleeing their own beloved country . Iran and our king had become “ too powerful “ for the British , French and US… so they made sure we lost our kingdom . A king who worked so hard to develop a country that was ripped to shreds by the British , the US, Soviet Union , the US … now it’s being occupied by China and Russia

Although some of your viewers may not know about Maestro Shajarian is that he was expert in so many traditional Persian musical instruments and their revival within traditional classical Persian music. I loved your passion & appreciation in recognition of the Maestro Shajarian unique vocal quality. I think his musical talents will be taught in universities across the world for centuries to come. Well Done & Thank you so much. 🙏

    Some parts of the lyrics:
You passed over me --- didn't raise your head [to look at me]
I told you about love .... you didn't believe
I easily sacrificed my heart for you/you didn't even think about loving me back
I told you would you smell my flower / You didn't even petal pick it
I saw me having jug full of water / although you were thirsty you didn't drink
In every song, I meant you [all of my songs were about you]/You didn't look at this garden full of flowers
let me know if you liked it I can translate the rest of it as well,

This was too frantic of music, not a typical Shajaran company. Also he is quite old and blunt here. I suppose they've tried to be a bit edgy and creative to compensate his diminished voice. I've never seen such composition before. If you want to hear Shajarian in his best, listen to this: th-cam.com/video/l2RgpIhaW6Q/w-d-xo.html

Isn’t it fascinating that music brings cultures and races together. Without music, life would be a mistake as Nietzsche said.
