    ”The only initiation which I advocate and which I look for with all the ardor of my Soul, is that by which we are able to enter into the Heart of God within us, and there make an Indissoluble Marriage, which makes us the Friend and Spouse of the Repairer… There is no other way to arrive at this Holy Initiation than for us to delve more and more into the depth of our Soul and to not let go of the prize until we have succeeded in liberating its lively and vivifying origin.”

    As a Martinist I find that we often discuss the 3 branches, the lineages, and Christian Kabbalah (though none of it appears in Pasquale's Treatise on the Reintegration of Beings). The initiatic rituals are beautiful, impactful, and simple. Meditation is central. I get way more out of it than from my former membership as a Mason and in the Golden Dawn. But considering that overcoming the fall and reintegrating with the Monad is the ultimate goal. What are the esoteric secrets of the order that lead us to reunion? As per the title of the video.

    This was a great video. Thank you for your efforts in developing this. Since your Pike video, you've really redeemed your content, which was also excellent other than that single stain.
    Only criticism with this video is in having used Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite symbols when introducing the Rectified Scottish Rite. They are separate organizations, though with similar symbolic influences. The AASR is to the CBCS as the Strict Observance was to the RER.

      @@agrippasdiaryone other point of correction, just to supplement your knowledge and correct another error, the AASR offers 30 degrees. The 33rd Inspector General Honorary is an actual degree that also includes rank and particular structure in the order. The use of "honorary" is often confusing for some, but it is an actual degree. The original version of this degree is now considered a sort of "Investiture" and only given to active members of the Supreme Council, with the title of Sovereign Grand Inspector General, also 33rd degrees.

    Thank you for representing Martinism, and although a few things off here and there, did it 10 times better than most do. At the end though, the part about the Scottish Rite was really weird and random. The only thing I can think is you meant to include something about the Rectified Scottish Rite (RER) which is related to Martinism and completely different from the 33 degree Scottish Rite you showed. Regardless, excellent work. And there actually are direct traceable lineages to Saint Martin through Russian lodges for those looking for actual filiation

    • @agrippasdiary
      @agrippasdiary  ปีที่แล้ว +14

      The idea was to present the fact that although the RER must not be confused with the Scottish Rite, elements from the rectified scotish rite and the sixth degree(CBCS) made it into modern Freemasonry. The Order of Knights Beneficent of the Holy City is among the Masonic appendant bodies in England and Wales as a ”green” order.(admitting only trinitarian Christians). Maybe I could have done a better job there, but the subject is so complex, that there will be inevitable misunderstandings.
      I would love to hear more from you. What others things would you consider were off? I am always looking to correct any mistakes and improve my knowledge. Thank you, fellow mystic.

    • @dkcarey1
      @dkcarey1 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@agrippasdiary I think it just went into the "Scottish Rite still exists today" and required the viewer to make the mental connection, could see people losing that point, as I was wondering what angle it was for. Yes its a very complex topic, recapping the few places you did was excellent for people not to get lost, you did a wonderful job. I was wondering as well if that was where you were going with it, because you're right, there are elements that have been been absorbed into the regular Scottish Rite. I'm not in the Scottish Rite, but imagine 29 Knight of Saint Andrew corresponds to the 4th degree of the RER (Scottish Master of Saint Andrew).
      Not sure if you're a Martinist but have seen Martinists themselves do worse presentations getting tons of things wrong. If you're not, you did a hell of a job researching and gotta give props. Most of the "off" things are little or getting into the weeds really. Like the Russian linage thing I mentioned. SM did initiate Russians and didn't just consult with, or maybe I misunderstood what you were saying. Péladan was a major founder of the OKRC which they couldn't really do without him, he was left out. I'd have to go back and rewatch to pick up on the other little things. I know when watching it I wasn't really thinking "WRONG, WRONG, WRONG",.... rather I was thinking "damn, someone's actually doing a really good job on Martinism for once" lol

      Carl Jung was actually a Christian who studied the occult to better understand mental illness. Most psychologists of his younger days studied parapsychology. He would have been insulted by the way people are using his name now to promote antisocial, satanic pathology. He would not be applauding it at all. Most of the people making such claims about him would not be able to read a single page of his work and comprehend it, but they just know that it sounds deep. That's good enough for them to support the delusions.

    • @HealthWyze
      @HealthWyze ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EasyMailmw Jung spent most of his career trying to hide his personal beliefs, because the academic system would have turned against him, similar to the situation now if any professor were to question evolution. The system would have excommunicated him. So, as he wrote about the kind of code that is the language of dreams, he was writing about himself in code. Thus, it could be said that there was a religiously styled order in which is inner circle understood exactly what he meant about himself and religion in general, but it confused his (God's) enemies. He was a bit like Jesus in that regard, using the same strategy. Unfortunately, his strategy tends to confuse people who don't understand him well enough, and so it's easy to mistake his work with occultism.
      I think reading his work is beneficial, but unfortunately, one isn't likely to be able to fully understand it unless he's been through the individuation process himself. And yes, I can see the parallels between this and the initiations of secret societies. There are parallels, but that's exactly why religious practices are so useful for understanding the human mind, because these apparent spiritual forces help to reflect back upon who we really are. He even referred to certain mental changes as processes of initiation himself. The big difference, of course, was that Jung was concerned with self understanding, while the occult arts are just that. They're misguided attempts at seeking more light, but nonetheless they are the outward expressions of our hard coded desire to seek God - to mature into all that we could be. Occultism, while psychoanalytically useful, seeks to deceive people into participating in the forbidden arts leading one towards satanism, self-destruction, and mental illness in general. What Jung practiced was a lot like the opposite of occultism. He would be the first to tell you that we all have the Devil inside, and escaping his/its influence means seeing it for what it truly is. It takes many forms, but it's usually first archetypaly experienced as The Shadow. Dealing with it is always the first stage of individuation. It's Genesis. It's the original sin. The first step to redemption is accepting that we have evil within ourselves which we've been trying to hide from ourselves most, and it's not pretty when the psychoanalyst holds up a mirror to it. A psychologist knows he's hit the bullseye when the patient storms out angrily, in fact.

    I'm technically a (retired) Priest of the Papus lineage of The Gnostic Catholic Church through my ex-membership in the OTO. Sadly Crowley's influence on the OTO's branch which carries this lineage, the EGC (Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica) is lacking to say the least... It mostly only exists to perform Crowley's "Gnostic" Mass which itself mostly exists as a way to get the OTO a public audience. It does have merits and some aspects are beautiful but the egotistical aspects of Crowley shine through. I've modified the script myself now that I've left the OTO to bring it back in line with more Martinist theology as well as my own general spirituality and Gnostic concepts taken from a few of the Nag Hammadi texts be they Sethian, Valentinian, Hermetic or standalones like The Gospel of Thomas. I've performed this variant with lovers and friends which has been more wonderful an experience than I can put in words.
    Many in the OTO don't care much for the EGC but even before Knight of East and West which brings EGC teachings to the regular OTO degree system I had gone through baptism, confirmation and the ordination of being deacon (a role I honestly ended up preferring to that of the Priest since, with clear consent of the Priest and Priestess, I would consciously project the duality of my nature (anima and animus, male and female) into the two with the two "Children" (not actually children, its a symbolic role in the Gnostic Mass) acting as conduits as they stand in front of the Masonic inspired pillars inscribed with LVX and NOX. The ceremony itself is based on The Russian Orthodox Church's Liturgy of St. Basil which is then woven in with Thelemic symbolism, hints at the OTO's true final teachings about s-x magick (censoring for TH-cam to hopefully not bury this comment not because I care) and Martinist symbolism however there are aspects I very much dislike such as the Gnostic Saints being invoked which are arbitrary and *of course* end with Aleister Crowley himself because in Thelema he's the most important thing that ever was or will be which is silly beyond parody.
    Here's some history from a few sources:
    Wiki: "The Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica descended from a line of French Gnostic revival churches that developed in the 19th century. At that time, these Gnostic churches were essentially Christian in nature. In 1907, Gerard Encausse (Papus), Jean Bricaud and Louis-Sophrone Fugairon founded their own, simply called the Gnostic Catholic Church. In 1908, they gave O.T.O. Grand Master Theodor Reuss episcopal consecration and primatial authority in their GCC. Later that year, Reuss incorporated the Gnostic Catholic Church into O.T.O. after the original founders renamed their own church to the Universal Gnostic Church.
    The name "Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica" was not applied to the church until Crowley wrote the Gnostic Mass in 1913, which Reuss proclaimed to be the church's official rite. This marked the first time an established church was to accept the Law of Thelema as its central doctrine. Reuss then announced a new title for himself: the "Sovereign Patriarch and Primate of the Gnostic Catholic Church".
    In 1979, Hymenaeus Alpha X° (Grady McMurtry) separated Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica from Ordo Templi Orientis, and made it into an independent organization, with himself at the head of both. During this period of separation Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica published its own quarterly magazine. However, in 1986, his successor, Hymenaeus Beta, dissolved the separate Gnostic Catholic Church corporation and folded the church back into O.T.O. Since then the Church has expanded greatly,"
    Royal Art Society: "Gérard Encausse (1865-1916), better known as Papus, was one of three head Bishops of the French Gnostic Catholic Church, l’Église Gnostique de France. He was a one-time member of the Theosophical Society and a member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Papus founded his own Masonic Christian Kabbalist Martinist Order, based on the teachings of Martinez de Pasqually, in 1884, l’Ordre des Supérieurs Inconnus. He also founded the Rosicrucian Kabbalistic Order of the Rose-Croix.
    Papus never became a regular Freemason in either Anglo-Masonry or the French Grand Orient. He did, however, organize an International Masonic Conference in 1908, where he met Theodore Reuss, head of the O.T.O., and exchanged patents of their respective orders with him, making Reuss Special Inspector for the Martinist order in Germany. Papus became head of the international Rite of Memphis and Misraim when John Yarker died in 1913.

      OTO has nothing to do with Martinism.
      Martinism doesn’t have anything to do with s-x magic. It’s esoteric Christianity along 3 paths. Chivalric, Theurgical and Contemplative.
      Many Martinists have affiliation to independent sacramental apostolic churches that aren’t RC.
      Don’t confuse these churches with Crowley’s Thelemite “Gnostic” churches. These churches are not Christian.

      Christianity is a remedial sink-hole for people who aren't ready to face the concept of karma and reincarnation. What the Buddha Yeshua taught was that WE and the FATHER are ONE.
      You don't need a church, nor a mass, nor a ritual, you just need the seed of the concept, which is embedded in the word. What is the word? The word is in the NAME.

    The dark night of the soul is a stage of final and complete purification, and is marked by confusion, helplessness, stagnation of the will, and a sense of the withdrawal of God's presence. It is the period of final "unselfing" and the surrender to the hidden purposes of the divine will.
    The dark night of the soul comes just before revelation. When everything is lost, and all seems darkness, then comes the new life and all that is needed.
    The darkest nights are followed by the most radiant dawns and the soul, perfect at last, enters into complete, constant and inseparable communion with the Spirit.

    Regarding AMORC & Harvey Spencer Lewis, there is a two volume book called The Rosicrucian Fraternity in America by Dr. Clymer. The first volume is about 450 pages, second is about 950 pages. It can be hard to obtain a copy, and sometimes it is upwards of $300 when you can. But worth it, as it contains A LOT and I mean A LOT of very interesting information and exposure of a lot of shady behavior and intent by those assiociated with the founding of AMORC.
    There is some very detailed information about the history of Rosicrucianism in America, and exposes some very shady behavior by Lewis & and his associates. For example Lewis trying to Sue Mrs. Hiendel for using the term Rosicrucian is a good example. But it goes much beyond that. Even if you don't agree with Clymer on all his points it is a great book for any serious person interested in the occult and history of Rosicrucian influence in America. It should be in any serious Mystics library for the study of Rosicrucian influence in America. Regardless if you agree with some of interpretations or not. It contains a lot of valuble information.

    • @imFurbs
      @imFurbs ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@adagio333 I hundred percent agree with you.
      I will say after reading a lot of Clymers works, he is a great teacher. And don't get me wrong, there was a known beef and rivilary between Clymers Rosicrucian order and AMORC. So you can expect somewhat of a bias from Clymer, and for good reason, as AMORC and their associates we're doing some very very dishonorable things. But Clymer exposes a lot and is clear in his works. He speaks and writes with logic rather than emotion, and features tons of references and documents from multiple sources in the book I mentioned aswell. also letters, transcripts, etc. And also connects a lot of dots.
      If anything it exposes a agenda of AMORC doing some very shady things. Basically proving AMORC was closer to the exact oppisite of what Rosicrucianism was supposed to be. A inner and spiritual process. Not a commercialized hierarchy with material initiations, and donations for monographs that feature plagiarism and misinterpretations.
      Regardless of the latter, both AMORC, and Randolphs/ Clymers order have attracted a lot of brilliant minds, and have done a lot of good. Even if I tend to agree AMORC is commercialized Rosicrucianism which is contradictory to what the movement intended.

      what about Bota, and what about SRIA, and what Rosicrucian organization do you recommend or what authors. What rosicrucian organization is not going to teach s-x practices with sme s-x as a spiritual practice (or do you feel this is valid). I feel very bad for those who dedicate their life to the mysteries only to get wrapped up in encoded sacrificial detestable symbolism (ie Crowley) or un natural (to me) form of procreative forces toward sm sx. I'm very pro Valentinian and pro Kabbalah currently but I hold no authority higher than my own conscience in morals and ethics (but certainly others are higher in knowledge) You seem to know quite a bit and think clearly. What about freemasonry and what about lone paths. What have you found out and what is that finding traced thru history. What is iyo "true Martinism, true Rosicrucianism and true Christianity. Martinist don't study the Rosicrucian manifestos, don't use the rose cross symbol, and the top Elus Cohen degree title is French for Red Cross- not Rose Cross. Great question! This could be referring to 2 different but simultaneous things. 1) the S:.I:. degree is conferred as a ritual and each order has different rituals that express the same mystical concepts (emphasizing some more than others), so Papus and Chaboseau could have described to each other what their individual initiation ceremonies were like.
      2) there is a transmission (like an Apostolic succession) that is given at the culmination ceremony. In order to cover over any of the possible missing generations from St. Martin to Papus or from St. Martin to Chaboseau, they decided to reinforce its efficacy by giving to each other their individual lineages that the other may or may not be "missing," but are undocumented due to the fractured nature of the various people who St. Martin would have given it to during his lifetime. Hope that helps your understanding?

    It has been called Gnosticism, but it isn't. The fall of man and redemption is ... kind of un-Gnostic. The essence of Gnosticism is that you didn't "fall" by your own fault, but you were trapped by "evil" or rather "material" or "sinister" forces originating from the matter. The "redemption" theme is then counterparted by an "insight" theme and "personal development" theme. Similar, but not the same. The idea that Gnosticism equals "Wild Mysticism" and "Salvation teachings" is just a projection of everything that Catholicism mistrusted. UPDATE: I get it that the Martinist Order is just another complicated teaching of raging systemism, that doesn't really teach individuals to improve their wisdom, but instead do a lot of rites that are *supposed* but not empirically attested to improve the individual.
