Since you mentioned this on stream (hello fellow vod-watchers), I do use your streams as a productive work entertainment to work along with you, Cris! I have been swamped with a project for my student assistent job at uni, but my job entails a lot of work with excel spreadsheets and whatnot which gets kind of boring after you get the hang of it, especially in my home office. So watching you paint your nails and talking to chat makes my work more fun and it really feels like I am just hanging out with a friend, who is also working, both busy but still chillin‘
hey, about people seeing different colors: it could be that you're a tetrachromat (you get to see more colors than usual). most people are trichromats.... perhaps you're seeing what is clearly different colors, that to most people seem practically the same i'd suggest getting more trichromats on the "color picking team (?)" that could make sure shades are distinct enough from others. i expect most swatchers are tetrachromats, since they already have an affinity for color. cheers! xx
what you can do about the colour problems is pick people that dont work normally with colours at random and ask them if they are the same colour or are different, that way you will know if there is enogh difference, normally if people on the lab ae the ones working on the colours they are going to be capable of seeing the difference since they are constantly seeing the colous for work
42:30 it is definitely because it’s gel. i was also terrified at the fact that people hand painted most things instead of sponging, but after working with gel myself for a while it definitely makes more sense.. i think it’s because gel is too goopy for a sponge, you have more time to blend and finesse it because it doesn’t dry as you work with it, and it’s more self leveling for longer. also, i noticed they use a similar thin and sparse brush for these so they blend a lot better than it could with a sponge. hope this helps!!
I would love to see a full black collection. Like only black in different finishes. For example a holographic a metallic an iridescent etc but all different kinds of black
I get so annoyed when people say pink is just light red. Pink is cooler than red and needs a touch of blue. If you were to look at coral chaser, it’s a pale red not pink.
I missed the first 40 min or so of the live - so here catching up on "the drama" on VOD. In my lighting and to my untrained eye, I do feel like Crimson Void leans more towards magenta and less red. I"m not mad though as I do prefer Dead Petals. I appreciate that Simply cares so much and even questioned it with the lab. I also can't wait for the "purple collection" which is just 5 bottles of Midnight Spark
People definitely see color differently. I worked in interior design and sometimes the contractor would try to replace the paint with a cheaper brand. I would say yes but only it's the same color. They'll submit a sample, and my boss could never tell the difference in color but I can always see it. 😁
I'm a graphic designer and we have the same thing. A printer will print stuff and even pantone match and then me and my coworkers can always see when it is off. I think it's partly biological and partly trained to notice small differences like warm vs cool etc
For the pomodoro technique you are not supposed to leave after 25 min (of course you can if you want to, but 5 min are actually not enough to really do something else) 😄 It is just about concentration, you can just strech your neck, drink a little bit of water, go to the bathroom, let your thoughs wander and after that go back to concentration on your task. And like chat pointed out it is really useful to start on tasks because it is less intimidating :) (and also remembering to take breaks, in order to keep your concentration longer) Of course like simply said, not all techniques are for everyone and if somebody has an already good working, established technique in place obviously there is no need to change it. Just wanted to give a little more context, because I think this is something that many people misunderstand about the pomodoro technique
I actually just used the reverse ombre design to test out mixing Holo Taco with gel polish to see if it would cure like normal (got the idea from Emily Susanah's recent video) and it worked so well! It worked best using equal amounts of gel base coat to Holo Taco polish. It did sheer the polish out, but it cured completely in 60 seconds and top coated perfectly, no wrinkling. I'm gonna try sponging a gradient on next, see how that works. But man, there's so many possibilites!
I work in a manufacturing industry where we dye fibber, sometimes there is variance within the same batch. So it’s understandable that there is variance in holo too.
I really appreciate you following up with the lab on this. I do find the colors extremely similar-I used them next to each other in a skittle mani and couldn't tell the difference most of the time. Luckily I happen to love that particular color family so it doesn't bother me that much, but it's always nice to know that our concerns are being taken seriously and looked in to. Thank you for your hard work!
Glasses and contacts can change how colors look as well. My new glasses came with blue light filtering built in, and they skew everything slightly yellow!
I definitely see a meaningful difference between dead petals and crimson void. They’re two different colors to me. Obviously they’re close because of the theme of the collection but they are not the same color to me. On my nails I saw a huge difference
My mom just asked me for Cristine’s website to show her co worker who loves painting her nails. I thought it was so cute my mom has listened to me talk about Cristine and Ben so much she wanted to recommend the polish to others 💗
Thank you so much for addressing the Crimson Void/Dead Petal issue. I felt insane and hadn't realized other people felt the same with what they received. I appreciate the explanation of everything that went into it and I'm sure this won't be a problem again.
It's like with skeins of yarn. Where you can buy the same color/dye, but you want to make sure you buy all skeins from the same batch, otherwise you might see a difference in a whole knitted piece.
I can see a very subtle difference between the two shades when I swatch them on my finger. I appreciate that you are taking our feedback into consideration. I don't want you to feel bad at all. I love the collection as a whole. It's just those two colors and I don't mind that they are similar because my preference is Dead Petals. Also, don't shy away from the darker colors because of this. The colors in this collection are perfection and I would love a darker more orange linear holo in the future.
I for one was weirdly comforted when you accidentally put the cleanup brush into the nice design. Stuff like that happens to me all the time and it is so frustrating. Glad to see even seasoned pros do it too
I had no idea about the drama, and I literally don't care. I believe in you and trust you enough to always approach with the assumption of good faith. You're not trying to get one over on us. Thank you for all you do 💛
When I got my dark holo collection box, I immediately went to do a full Crimson Void mani. First stroke I was immediately disappointed because I was expecting a poison apple red color from the promos, but instead I was wondering if I had picked up Dead Petals instead. Even though I can see the difference between the two colors side by side, I think the issue is more Crimson Void isn’t quite the deep red linear holo we were expecting. It doesn’t sound like Cristine will be reformulating the color of CV so I hope we get one in the future. That said, I’m very excited to do a dark rainbows skittle mani next! Fall vibes are finally settling in.
A question about limited edition polishes, will the HOLO GALA collection ever make a return? i love black listed and featured guest, and it will be sad to run out of them so i almost dont want to use them ever hehe
@@alwaysaroundproud maybe people were expecting a "crimson" holo, but I think the holo flair is making it more cool toned (due to blue flair which is normal in holo polishes), because I swatched and dry brushed on a piece of paper and it definitely has a different base color.

Re: Pomodoro technique, when I was still in school I used an app called Tide. It's a white noise app with the option to set timers, so you can work for 25 min (or whatever you want) with a white noise of your choice on in the background, then an alarm will go off and you can go do something else for a bit, then repeat. It worked really well for me.
It’s funny, I have always thought that Dead Petals and Crimson Void were too similar on my skin tone. I saw a meaningful difference in general, I just never thought it was enough in practice. I always assumed Cristine addressed this somewhere, I just didn’t know where. I finally found her addressing the issue two years after the ✨drama✨ 😂
Personally I wouldn’t mind rainbow flood and violet nightmares being similar as much as cv and dp because rainbow flood was limited edition and not part of the same collection. I don’t think vn is similar to purple slushee at all
all my nails have a nice c curve except for my middle fingers, they have more of a medium curve. i know nobody cares but i just thought i’d throw that out there lol
You can’t have foreign objects like dust or etc in gel, I would assume that’s why they aren’t sponging. Also, gel Is viscous enough to melt into each other rather than polish which you would be getting two different viscosities if you were blending two together.

I'm not on holo taco socials (aside from youtube lol) so it's interesting to hear/read this discussion from the live! 🤔💗❤
I ordered crimson void and while it is a beautiful nail polish I am disappointed it is more of a maroon color rather than red :( still will wear it and rock it tho!
