    On the SNES you can tell they reused DKC assets for the levels

      The flowers in Banjo-Kazooie (Mumbo's mountain is a good example area that contains them) are actually just old DKC or Dreams (can't remember which) assets. You can tell they're done in the same style of flattening a model into a sprite

    That's awesome, I'm glad I finally got to see some gameplay footage of Dream and early Banjo Kazooie. All before the Banjo Kazooie we know and love today.

    That would have been a great looking SNES game.

    So the game in it's early dev-stages looked like it would have played alot like Secret of man/Secret of Evermore but with DKC2's graphic engine. The overall concept was fascinating.
    It's s shame we'll never get to play that game but on a plus note if Dream Land of Giants did get made then we most likely wouldn't have gotten Banjo-Kazooie and Yooka-Laylee.

    snes version of dream was waaayyyy beetter than the n64 port

      Polygons were the new gimmick. I'm feel sorry. :c

      The SNES version was pre-rendered. The graphics looked better because they were done by far more powerful machines ( SGI workstations were over 1000 times more powerful than the SNES). The Nintendo 64 is about 93 times more powerful than the SNES and as such the N64 is powerful enough to have real time rendering but with graphics that were nowhere near as good as a workstation (An SGI workstation was still over 20 times more powerful than the N64). So in order to have a true 3D game they had to sacrifice the aesthetics. We all know that an isometric game does not play the same as a full 3D game. Polygons actually changed how games function, it's not just a matter of looks.

    • @Meta64_
      @Meta64_ 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Trenzinho da Alegria I know that. my point is that the snes pre rendered visuals are far more better. the game looked nicer.

    • @trenzinhodaalegria8012
      @trenzinhodaalegria8012 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It was not a port though. They had to make everything from scratch in a console that has completely different fundamentals. The N64 is a full 3D console. While the SNES was only 2D (A few FX games had their own hardware inside the cartridges to introduce 3D to the SNES however the SNES itself did not have this capability). 3D games are not based on the same technologies as 2D games. They work in completely different ways. And seriously when it comes to Banjo-Kazooie the full 3D game from the N64 is much better than the isometric one (GBA Banjo-Kazooie Grunty's revenge was a pre-rendered isometric game just like Project Dream except that Project Dream looked better)

    • @trenzinhodaalegria8012
      @trenzinhodaalegria8012 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it did look very very nice but a pre-computed game does not have the same dynamic gameplay as a full 3D one.. However I must point that at the time Rare ltd had no prior experience in 3D games so the N64 version didn't take any advantage of the 3D and the SNES version was definitely better in this case.

    • @vico7727
      @vico7727  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The rom is not available to the public sadly. However, we know there are physical prototypes out there so we may get lucky and find one so we can dump it online. I am much more optimistic we will get rom of it at some point since we discovered Dinsour Planet recently and many other Nintendo betas. So getting Dream does not seem that unlikelley.
