What I love about animal spiritual connection is how honest it feels... It's like a physical trip where you feel like you have an actors freedom when acting but knowing it's about you and the animal... They boost and heal wisdom very fast.
On the note of Jacob's Fylgja, I would've never guessed it out of the blue, but once he said it "it's a turkey" and the image of a turkey walking around flashed across the screen I was bewildered how much sense it made, it was like "woooow that is so logical and makes sense that it couldn't be any other way!"
On the same note, I did my own Fylgja "discovering" journey 3 years ago, it lasted six months and I finally got to meet my spiritual half, and it was a golden retriever-labrador mix, it made so much sense, I always had grandious ideas that it was a jaguar or a mountain lion, like no kid, sit down, it's a dog, and it's a dog that like to play fetch, and I indeed sat down, contemplated the revelation and it made so much sense that I wondered how am I not going out into the park to throw sticks to myself 🤣once you meet your Fylgja a lot of your temperament and characteristics suddenly make perfect sense, I kid you not.
And I am so glad Jacob shared his Fylgja with us, so openly and honestly bc not a lot of people want to do that or say it how it really is, so thank you Jacob ^^
And thank you for introducing Darius and letting him tell his perspective, it was most educational and eye-opening!

I've been lucky to have discovered my fylgja/luonto (I follow Finnic tradition) at a very young age, it's a magpie. I've always felt a deep connection to them yet only recently it has really been revealed to me as to why (won't go into detail here tho). The more I work with my luonto the more I feel it is a part of me, we are separate yet the same. In Finnic paganism the aspect of a luonto/fylgja is seen as one of the souls of a person, the one that gives them their personality and the way they take in life.
Although we follow different beliefs, I really love your channel and the community you've built! There are many similarities between Scandinavian and Finnic paganism, and watching your videos on these subjects has been of great help many a time.

Fylgia and Animism is such a fascinating aspect within Heathenry, really does enhance the connection to Nature here in Midgard as much as the other realms and Yggdrasil.

NO WAY!!! I always say "my spirit animal is a turkey" because I see them frequently in random places- and I feel this deep connection with them. I'll get a sense of luck and calm in the air. I think they are so beautiful! I love their colors and how they change in the sun... but others think it's silly when I say it.
Now, I am not a pagan, I *just* subscribed to your channel a video or two ago.
I have been trying to follow some weird, uh.. calling???- I don't know what it is.. I know I need change.
Maybe seeing my spirit animal (even on the internet) on your channel- this could be a sign for me!! ❤️

So I had bee meditating for a long time and I ended up accidently astral projecting. I keep seeing a raven at the doors to enter deeper and deeper into the astral projecting. Then I was attacked by an spirit that was dark, black, and evil. Then the raven came into me and together the raven casted a ball of light around me. This was the only way I was able to come back to my body. Then the next day I had a dream of these ravens lying on the floor seemingly dead and I began to cry thinking how horrible it was they were all dead and it was my fault the raven had been attacked. Then one raven tbe largest out of all the others popped up and looked at me deeply and I just felt so happy knowing it had lived. I have even since been afraid to go back into meditation because I dont want to astral project again and get attacked. Now I am thinking my fylgja is a raven. I always feel happier when I see ravens especiallly knowing their connection to Odin.

Thanks Darius for bring up her book. I have it as well. She does mention that in her experience that Power Animals don't have names. Mine do, but everyone are different. And having a personal name for them are a great way form a strong bond. Instead of just saying Boar Spirit. But, more like Tusk my brother, sister. More power in that.
She also says the gender does not matter in her experience. But, we know in Nordic, Germanic traditions. Our Fylgja us normally the opposite sex of it's owner, so to speak. And an interesting note. A male or female of any given species will many things in common. But, each in of itself will also have their own lessons according to their gender. A natural fact, but a deeper way for looking at it.

So I don't really know if it perfectly relates, for many years now I have dreams of being a small owl off and on, especially on hard times. The dreams started around the time my mom was estimated to have developed cancer. Those dreams kept me going and a reason to push through the days after my mom died. She's been gone for 9 years now but I still occasionally have the dreams. Would this be my fylgia or just a weird coincidence? I'm also extremely new to heathenry and your videos are immensely helpful.

How do I know if I have found my fylgia? I have had minimal luck with spirit guilds in the past but they have felt like companions and not a part of me. Looking for any advice

I use The Self a an animal spirit.
Years ago I did something like that with a guy I meet at Highschool, and aparently I had a fox for animal guide, the thing is that I was able to "grow stronger" and the fox was able to change into a coyote and eventually into a wolf because the trickster nature of both the fox and the coyote spirits and because all three of those kinds of spirits where "all-rounded", or so that guy said to me, its that possible? Because right now I don't know if he just told me that to "catch me", so to speak, or if it is true.
Just to make sure, I don't mean that I was a fox before and now I'm a wolf, I mean that I can my animal guide can switch between all three forms at will.

could spirit animals have any connection with zodiac signs? I don't know what my spirit animal is but I do feel like my sun sign scorpio describes me a lot.
Historically I do not believe there is a connection, and from what I have gathered of new age practices some believe they are connected, while others do see a connection.
There can certainly be commonalities, as a cancer sign (me) has some qualities of a turkey spirit. However I do not personally see a connection between the two

Funny how everyone that has a spirit animal is somehow one of the cool and popular ones. Wolf, bear, Fox, eagle, tiger, lion, elephant, ect ect....
No one surprisingly seems to get snail, skunk, field mouse, platypus, Chihuahua, chinchilla, hamster, koala bear, panda bear, so on and so forth. What I was getting at here is that no one ever goes" oh shucks, I didn't want you as a spirit animal aw, you're a disappointment.", so the majority of this does seem kind of redundant since it's heavily based off of one's personal choice and taste.
I actually just did Jacob's meditation and mine is a mouse. But I know what you mean about wolves and ravens being very common.
I discovered years ago that mine is a toad/frog.
I see this as well, and so I tend to not believe those who say they have big cats, wolves, ravens and such as having had genuine experiences (most of them), but when it's a "huh"-animal like a turkey... yeah, I'll buy that. 😄
The Doe and Buck are my spirit animals. The Buck is wise to not come in between the does , whose fawns call out Mama. The Buck knows Mama is the spirit that gave him life.
They who deny this, deny what is Infront of them, for one like Santa's Reindeer. Female Deer with Antlers. Bet you thought they were Bucks. What do you think the Pope is 🤔

Also keep in mind that people today are more domesticated then people from history. So getting bears and wolf's are less likely. Unless you are in the military or something. 😊😊
My luck, it would probably be a gerbil. And my mothers would be a hamster.

I hope you aware those represent some crooked views... im coming from a video that a figlja isnt like a spirit animal in Native American conception... it would be fine if u said its just how you n your friend that claims he's really good sees it, but they're not really historicly backed... & u, might get things very wrong...

as far as im concerned there is a world of spirit and without it the world of "matter" doesn't even exist.... everything has spirit, this just the way of things.
