I love cats and all the subtle things you can tell about them through their behavior. A kitty who genuinely thought her baby was in danger would likely hiss, growl and attack whatever was threatening it with all her might. A truly threatened mama probably wouldn't even let a human or anything else get close to her kittens.
But this kitty clearly trusts her owner, she just physically and verbally insisted her baby be returned to her littermates without having to resort to violence. So precious.

That makes me miss the days when my husband would bring home litters of baby kittens, most with the umbilical cord still attached. He would find them at his job in abandon cars on the lot mostly. In hot trunks or underneath the seat. He'd bring them home and I'd bottle feed them and our family would love them till they were old enough to be adopted out. Of course we kept some. Had 10 cats till recently. Now we have 6. There's something about cats. They aren't hard to fall in love with. We have been truly blessed with all the beautiful fur babies we've encountered and cared for over the last 30yrs of our marriage.
Sorry about the book. Just brought me back to a happy place. And I needed that today.

I enjoyed your story - thanks for sharing. I take in wandering barn cats that show up in my backyard (one’s cuddling beside me now). Although I’ve never rescued tiny babies, I did capture two kitten sisters about 6-8 weeks old last fall from under my neighbour’s porch. I gave them to my older cat as his adopted daughters and he just loves them. Gives them loving grooming sessions.
Momma’s eyes got huge when she realized the person picked up and removed her baby. Awww good momma

All that stuff is processed in their brains, brains which are used for thinking. Not everything they do is some involuntary reaction like sneezing or coughing. There's thought there.

It's funny how some cats are super protective against everyone and how others are pretty chill with their owners seeing the babies. When our cat had kittens she jumped up onto the bed in the middle of the night and woke us up, and wouldn't leave us alone until we followed her all the way to the closet where she'd given birth. She was so excited to show them to us

My cat basically forced me to come and sit next to her box while she gave birth, she meowed and walked back and forth until i followed her. Cats are very, very intelligent and have feelings just like us humans, without slightest doubt.

@@AedanBlackheartas a pet care professional I can tell you cat bites are no joke, iv been bitten by a 14ft rock python and that hurt less than a cat bite. Plus cats carry a lot of bacteria in their saliva which can lead to a lot of nasty diseases x
