    Couple of quick points. North America spec'd vehicles get a spare (the Euro spec units don't). Also, the new LED lighting system (optional) is bananas. It' "mutes" out sections of illumination to avoid blinding other drivers while still maximizing the illumination to other areas. It really is amazing (but pricey, about $7k in Canada).

    • @shootloadrepeat
      @shootloadrepeat ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Also, the full matrix LED headlights will not be offered on USA spec vehicles because of our dumbshit regulations.

    • @GooseVan
      @GooseVan ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have the Matrix LED in my current cayenne in Canada, never used the feature, lol. I want to know the difference between the current and the new HD, is it just more pixels? BTW, not $7K in Canada, it's in premium plus package that you get a lot more than just the light.

    Many thanks for the confirmation on the wheels ,
    By the way how did they ride -and did Air suspension help.

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      I had no problem with the ride quality but the roads were pretty smooth. Hard to tell what the air suspension was doing in tandem with the standard adaptive suspension. For those that really do off roading it would be good to have the extra ground clearance. I wouldn't need it and personally wouldn't want the complexity. It's my understanding the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control will do more to reduce body roll than air suspension.

    Hi Tom, Would you recon a brand new Cayenne S fully optioned or just grab a preowned 21/22 GTS at a cheaper price?

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like a personal decision to me. Will you use the extra capability of the GTS? How much cheaper is it? The new model has some extra refinement and tech that I find valuable. And the new CarPlay makes things especially easy to keep eyes on the road. Also, the new one comes with a full warranty, which considering Porsche service costs, is an appealing thing. Best of luck. Hard decision.

    • @tonyan6457
      @tonyan6457 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DrivenCarReviews Thanks Tom for the prompt reply! Really appreciated for your advice.
      I am living in Australia. The new Cayenne S coupe costs 190k Aud with options I wanted plus the stamp duty (on-road tax), is going to be around 250-270k Aud (similar to your video, I will have red leather, 18-way seats, pdcc, ptv, Cayon paint, red two-tone smooth leather package, etc).
      Alternatively, if I go with a pre-owned 21/22 Cayenne GTS with 10-20,000 km will cost in between 220-240k on-road (including all taxes).
      PS: I've been driving a BMW X5 40i for three years now, feeling not fast/fancy enough. I was looking into GLE53 but it's even slower than the X5 and drives like a boat which is not what I expected.
      After a few years of hard work, I would love to treat myself and just want to get a good SUV/car before too late.
      Sadly, the Panamera or S-class is slightly too long for my garage and the Macan GTS is too small for me (I'm 6 foot 1)

  • @tjs114
    @tjs114 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just from looking at the patent for the power hitch, I would say that NHTSA wouldn't approve it because it fails to be permanently affixed to certain hard points as required by our laws. That pretty screw drive mechanism it uses to swing is actually where all of the torque of towing is concentrated rather than being distributed to hard points.

    • @TizzleT
      @TizzleT ปีที่แล้ว +1

      US requires higher tongue weight which allows better stability at higher speeds and thus a more robust tow hitch. Euro countries also have lower speed limits for vehicles with a trailer. Different mechanisms for different rules and regulations. Knowing this, I bet most US owners who tow would prefer the stability vs a stealth hitch.

    • @Porsche1969
      @Porsche1969 ปีที่แล้ว

      Please, shut up, dude!
      Here in Germany and Europe almost every car manufacturer has such a power hitch system for SUVs. There have never been any issues with such a system.
      You are talking crap!
      The same goes for the most sophisticated LED matrix lights, which you will find in German premium vehicles. BMW laser light, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen and Porsche LED Matrix systems, like this one in the new Cayenne, are blowing everything out of the water.
      600 meters of pure lighting sensation for a much safer driving at night!!
      American cars with their old crappy light systems are totally outfashioned compared to the advanced German head light systems!
      The new Cayenne is class leading with its LED matrix system.
      The USA is fucking oldfashioned. Your totally stupid "...but the NHTSA wouldn't approve mimimimi..." claims are fucking bullshit, dude!
      Americans are ridiculously oldfashioned in many of these very simple things compared to Europe, period!

    Wait did you say that this Cayenne S, which began at $98k, was optioned to $175k? Also, did you say the sweet spot for the Cayenne S price-wise is about $135k? I’m sorry, you’re saying this vehicle is so excellent that it needs almost $40k in options to hit the “sweet-spot”, especially after talking about how it comes with more standard options? That is just insane.

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Many of the options at $175K are superfluous choices that do little to the everyday use experience. Take $10K off for carbon ceramic brakes (that aren't even available in the US). Many people don't like sunroofs, delete that. Color matched seatbelts are an unneeded $660 option. Different seats that are still terrific would eliminate 5 grand. I could care less about Race Tex headliner, soft close doors and puddle light projectors. Boom. A high performance vehicle that looks great and still has air suspension, Sport Chrono, rear axle steering and Torque Vectoring + is under $130K. And here's the thing, many people wouldn't fully appreciate those performance options. So the difference between a $130K version and one that's lightly optioned at say $105K might go unnoticed to some. And before you say $105K is a lot of money (and yes it is) know that a Jeep Wagoner can be optioned to over $120K. I'd personally MUCH rather have the Porsche.

    • @RZ1402
      @RZ1402 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DrivenCarReviews Appreciate you responding, and yes, it’s good to get some input on the actual option utility! Sticker shock on vehicles like this is hard for me to comprehend sometime, and I’m clearly not Porsche’s market; I think the issue is that the entire automobile industry has started to follow the example of companies like Porsche and BMW, offering more options, a higher base MSRP (recognizing that some of this is due to inflation), and making it so that you really cannot find a base model on a lot.

    It is all nice and dandy to use small icons on a touch screen when the vehicle does not move; try doing it in motion, especially with sweaty fingers or wearing gloves. Can one even see these icons without squinting? I bet Porsche's customers all have Lasik done.
    As for the Porsche quality, does it have critical components like the intake manifold still made of papier-mâché, or they have switched to metal parts after all? The sticker price is only the first installment, then one will be paying through the nose for the service, parts and repairs.

Look at the door handle, I don’t think you can get anything cheaper and its hollow on the underside. The gear lever is invisible and not lighted, thecwindshield wiper control gets in the way, the steering wheel is only manual adjust and is worse than my son’s plastic Microsoft steering wheel, full leather interior means cheap plastic shells on the backside of the seats with some cheap nettong as a document holder…. I can't stand the design of the top portion of the instrument cluster. It's terrible.

    Who exactly buys Porsche's at such insane and ridiculous prices? They are somehow more expensive than Mercedes vehicles, hell, every other German automaker. No wonder I barely see them on the road, or just not as many of them as other Germany luxury brands. The price makes no sense, especially for a base car. Base car at $82,000. Seriously! At that money for a base, you might as well go for a G-Wagon, a Range Rover, an X7 or an Escalde. Totally overpriced vehicles. Imagine paying $175K for this SUV🤣🤣🤣

      Porsche quality is one reason people get these over the competition.
      And as for the price, lots if not most people that buy these cars don't really look at prices, they buy what they want and money is secondary.

      @@bzdtemp Their quality is exceptional. I just don't know if the quality warrants what they are asking though. It seems it's quality over value with Porsche. A base Mercedes Maybach GLS SUV starts at $170,000. Somehow, Porsche is asking $175K for a fully loaded Cayenne. I highly doubt a fully loaded Cayenne is of higher quality than a GLS Maybach or an S-class base, which starts at 114,500. In the mass market vehicle industry, Mercedes is regarded as the pinnacle of quality, not Porsche. Another example is the recently resigned Range Rover, which starts at 106,500. Can you honestly say that a Porsche Cayenne has higher quality than a Range Rover ? I doubt it. Porsche may have better reliability. But I doubt their offerings are of higher quality than those of Mercedes or Range Rover. I've been inside of a 2022 cayenne. A colleague of mine drives a 2023 Range Rover which I have driven as well. I can say with confidence that the range Rover is of superior quality both inside and out. Porsche builds excellent quality vehicles. I just think they price gouge their customers by overpricing their offerings.

      I would buy a Porsche for any amount. As long as I get the quality that I need. Their engineering is amazing. They have been doing that for years now period
