So helpful! Thank you Toby👍
No worries!
Excellent advice on how to brush and how to soften edges.
Thanks for watching!
Nice clear advice Toby 👍
Thanks 👍
I am very new to watercolour and my paintings always turn out muddy, messy, daubed and somewhat ‘childish’ looking. This video was very helpful. Thank you. 😊
You are so welcome!
Great advice with clear examples. Thanks so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Oh wow, this helped me so very much! Thanks, Toby!
You're very welcome!
Lol, I went out watercolouring for 3 hours today & not only did I do every single one of the 6 things shown here but I also did a 7th thing - I used dirty, grey water to wash & wet my brushes in so all my colours had a degree of muddy, grey in them. I knew I was doing it at the time but still couldn't stop myself!!!
Haha I know the feeling :)
Love your tips!
Wow! Great tips! Will watch this video again! :)
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you... very helpful!!!
Glad it was helpful!
This video was very helpfull Thank you
Your ways are a revelation to lil’ Miss Overwork-The-Detail me! I long to paint free and loose instead of obsessing over all the tiny details and spending hours on a sketch which finishes with me cross and exhausted with a muddy, overworked sketch! I’m completely turning it all around thanks to your videos and am starting to produce small, lightning sketches with much freer washes of colour - I laughed out loud recently at one happy little sketch I’d done - I’m at last enjoying it all again, so thank you Toby, revelation!
haha brilliant :)
Muddied a piece recently. Thanks for your timely video, Toby! :)
Happy to help!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
I love your technique and videos. I would. Love to see more beach drawings. Thank you so much from Ft. Walton Beach, Fl.
Awesome! Thank you!
Fantastic tips thanks
Happy to help!
superb ;) - that's going to solve a lot of my muddy and complementary colour mixes.... great to hear about the balance of water/pigment ;)
Glad to help!
A helpful lesson -- thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for the great tips. I am new to watercolor.
Glad it was helpful!
However this is an interesting video with good tips to be aware of, thanks for posting.
Glad it was helpful!
If you don't like that lighthouse sketch so much, you could solve that problem by just sending it to me! Lol. I think it's lovely; it's simple, distinctive and imposing. I do see the 'murky' area that you pointed out, but I just thought of that as a nice bit of texture, weathering and shadow. Which I really like.
I do think that we as artists nit-pick and regret areas of our own work, that no one else would notice or see anything wrong about.
Don't they say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder? Perhaps the lighthouse is a case in point.
Hehe thanks 🙏
Came because of the thumbnail (hilarious), stayed for the awesome content. 😊
Legend!
Excellent. Can you please give me us some advice about how to move the brush in the hand, when changing direction when painting, like moving round a flower doing the petals, I find I need to turn the paper around because I struggle controlling the brush. Thanks
Great ideas!
Yes I agree with you there. It's a sometimes technique only! 😂
Thanks 🙏
I understand what this was about, but I loved the light house. Is there possibly a time when grubbing works?
YEs I'm sure there is, gets a differnet kind of texture - just not too much It think
I started off with acrylics and got used to the habit of going back and forth with the brush and did all those mistakes and trying to fix them only makes thing worse XD
hehe - very different skills, my acrylics are awful ;D
Bonjour TOBY que pensez-vous de l’utilisation du cercle chromatique que l’on trouve dans le commerce Merci conseillez vous son achat et si oui lequel?
I have a very cheap cold wheel from Amazon
I see alot of 'dirty' pallets...should'nt you keep them clean ? Can you clean them ,how ? Or...not ?🤔🎨
I clean them occasionally, no need to waste all that paint
Trotzdem danke!
My pleasure, translation is only so good
